Weston Wilson has elected free agency.

Wilson was designated for assignment on Saturday and passed through waivers unclaimed. He then refused an outright assignment to Triple-A Norfolk. The versatile 31-year-old is now free to explore options on the open market.

Mets claimed RHP Jack Anderson off waivers from the Twins.

The Mets continue pilfering Minnesota’s system for additional pitching depth with Anderson becoming their latest import. The 26-year-old offers some versatility as a multi-inning reliever, posting a respectable 2.19 ERA across 12 1/3 innings between the Twins and Red Sox this past season.

Astros sent OF Jake Meyers outright to Triple-A Sugar Land.

Meyers elected free agency rather than accept the outright assignment. It became abundantly clear that his time with the organization was basically over when he was shipped to the minors following the emergence of Taylor Trammell in early July. He hit just .213 (30-for-131) with three homers in 57 games this past season.

Astros selected the contract of C César Salazar from Triple-A Sugar Land.

Salazar has proven to be a capable emergency stopgap option behind the plate for Houston over the last couple years. The 30-year-old backstop gets a spot on the club’s 40-man roster to prevent him from being poached by another organization heading into the lockout.

Astros selected the contract of RHP Roddery Muñoz from Triple-A Sugar Land.

Muñoz winds up with a spot on Houston’s 40-man roster heading into the offseason after being picked up from the Reds in the Rule 5 Draft last year. The 26-year-old reliever made just four appearances for the Astros before being shipped to Triple-A for the rest of the year in early April.

Marlins sent RHP Patrick Monteverde outright to Triple-A Jacksonville.

Monteverde loses his spot on Miami’s 40-man roster heading into the offseason after allowing four runs over four innings during his lone relief appearance at the highest level this past season.

Orioles claimed LHP Philip Abner off waivers from the Mets.

Abner was cut loose from New York’s 40-man roster earlier this week. The 24-year-old lefty posted an inflated 7.11 ERA across 19 innings between the Giants and Diamondbacks this past season.

Orioles claimed RHP Josh White off waivers from the Marlins.

White heads to Baltimore as organizational relief depth after allowing five runs and recording only two outs during his lone appearance for Miami this past season.

Orioles claimed RHP Chase Hampton off waivers from the Cardinals.

Hampton is a worthwhile zero-risk pickup for the Orioles since he was one of the top pitching prospects for the division-rival Yankees just a few years ago before injuries derailed his career. The 25-year-old spent time with the Nationals and Cardinals at the end of last year following New York’s decision to finally move on. He’s a literally lottery ticket at this point of his development.

Orioles sent OF Leody Taveras, OF Heston Kjerstad, C Yohel Pozo and RHP Yosver Zulueta outright to Triple-A Norfolk.

Taveras has already elected free agency and the rest figure to follow suit. The biggest name here by a country mile is Kjerstad, but it was actually Taveras that wound up having the biggest impact for the Orioles last year, racking up 482 plate appearances, hitting .219/.288/.345 with eight homers and 11 steals.

Phillies claimed INF/OF Shay Whitcomb off waivers from the Giants.

Whitcomb has shown flashes of potential but has yet to establish himself as an everyday option at the big-league level. The versatile 28-year-old finally received an extended look with San Francisco this past season after being buried by the Astros for a couple years. He hit just .226 (21-for-93) with two homers and two steals during a 32-game showcase. He’s too old to be considered a prospect anymore and he’s probably running out of chances to carve out a role in the majors. Philadelphia is an interesting landing spot considering they don’t have a ton of bench depth entering the offseason.
