Tobias Myers allowed seven runs in 1 1/3 innings and took the loss against the Reds on Monday.

Myers gave up four hits, walked three and struck out one. He fell to 0-2 with a 5.71 ERA. Myers was put in a tough spot as he was recalled from Triple-A once Christian Scott (hip) was placed on the IL. Predictably, a road matchup against the Reds on short notice went poorly. Myers was already out of the game when Eugenio Suarez hit the grand slam to make it 9-0 with seven of the runs being Myers’ responsibility. He’s lined up to face the Phillies on the road this weekend, but Myers isn’t a recommended fantasy option at this point.

Yusei Kikuchi (shoulder) threw a bullpen session before Sunday’s game against the Red Sox.

Kikuchi’s bullpen session was the first since he was shut down with his shoulder injury. The left-hander will assuredly need to complete a few more sessions — and then at least a pair of rehab starts — before he could be an option for the Angels’ rotation later in the second half of the season.

HLs: Mets fend off Braves after ninth-inning drama
With offensive contributions from their stars and rookies, the Mets did enough to quiet the Braves' late comeback attempt to earn the win at Truist Park on Star-Spangled Sunday.

Grayson Rodriguez (back) is expected to return to the Angels and start Friday’s game against the Twins.

Rodriguez looked sharp in his most recent rehab start; firing 5 1/3 innings of one-run baseball for Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday. The Angels have already optioned Sam Aldegheri to the minors who was previously scheduled to start that contest, so assuming no setbacks for Rodriguez, it should be the 26-year-old on the bump for that contest.

Mike Trout (hamstring) was able to run the bases with no issue before Sunday’s game against the Red Sox.

Trout continues to make solid progress from the hamstring issue that has seen him miss a little over two weeks. The hope is that the 34-year-old future Hall of Famer will be back in action this week, with Trout mentioning Saturday that his hope is Tuesday or Wednesday. He was voted an All-Star starter, and it seems likely he’ll be participating in that event even with the injury.

Jake Burger hit a solo homer in a loss to the Tigers on Sunday.

Burger gave the Rangers an early 1-0 lead in the third inning with his solo blast off Casey Mize. Burger now has homered 15 times in 2026 while driving in 53 runs wish a slash of .243/.309/.432 in his second season with the Rangers. You can do worse. You can probably do better.

Riley Greene homered, tripled and drove in four runs while going 3-for-4 in a 6-3 win for the Tigers over Rangers on Sunday.

Greene also drew a walk, so it was a four-reach day for the 25-year-old talent. His homer was his 13th of the season; a two-run blast off Kumar Rocker. He came a double short of the cycle, and in the process he saw his slash improve to .292/.380/.474. He hasn’t shown as much power as he did in 2025, but he’s been a more well-rounded player in 2026. It’s a fair trade-off.

Kenley Jansen didn’t allow a run while picking up a save against the Rangers on Sunday.

Jansen was able to get the save while throwing just 10 pitches and not allowing a hit, not getting a strikeout and not giving up a walk. It’s now 10 for the 38-year-old, and his ERA dips to a still-disappointing 4.98 on the campaign.

Isaac Paredes hit a solo homer in a win for the Astros on Sunday over the Rays.

Paredes extended the Astros’ lead to 2-0 with his solo blast. The 27-year-old also singled to improve his slash to a respectable .257/.348/.423 over the first 92 games of the campaign. It’s also worth noting that he’s swung the bat much better than that since the end of May, as he he forged an .877 OPS in June and has picked up hits in all four July contests.

Christian Walker hit a solo homer to help the Astros to a 2-0 win over the Rays on Sunday.

Walker’s solo homer was all of the offense the Astros would need, although they did get another run on a solo blast from Isaac Paredes. That’s now Walker’s 20th homer of the season for the 35-year-old veteran, and he’s driven in 57 runs over 92 games. Walker hasn’t been elite as seen in a slash of .238/.311/.470, but it’s a vast improvement from the production — or lack thereof — in the first half of 2025.
