Kyle Leahy earned a quality start while taking the loss on Wednesday against the Padres, yielding three runs on seven hits over six innings.

Leahy struck out seven and walked one, taking advantage of a strong matchup as the Padres entered the day with the worst run-scoring lineup in MLB. He has now made 14 starts after primarily pitching out of the bullpen in his big-league career before 2026. His next outing is scheduled to come at home against the Diamondbacks, where he’ll be a volume-based streamer in deeper formats.

Athlon Sports’ Pat Ragazzo reports the Twins would like to move Joe Ryan and Ryan Jeffers at the trade deadline.

Ragazzo adds sources told Athlon Sports that Minnesota’s new owner Tom Pohlad might want to head in the opposite direction by adding at the trade deadline, which is roughly six weeks away, to make a playoff push given the current state of the American League. It looks like the Twins could potentially be sellers at the deadline for the second consecutive season after putting together a fire sale for the ages last summer. It’ll likely come down to whether they inch closer to playoff contention over the next couple weeks.

Braves re-signed C Sandy León to a minor league contract.

León remains with Atlanta as emergency catching depth at Triple-A Gwinnett after passing through waivers unclaimed. The well-traveled 37-year-old backstop has hit .091 (4-for-44) during 21 games for the Braves this season.

Nolan McClean will start during Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Cubs.

McLean will have his scheduled start pushed back an extra day in the wake of Monday’s rainout at Citi Field. It also eliminates the possibility of a two-start week where he would’ve had to face the red-hot Phillies this weekend. It’ll be Sean Manaea taking the ball for the other contest during Wednesday’s twin bill before Freddy Peralta starts Thursday’s series finale.

Shota Imanaga will start during Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Mets.

Cubs manager Craig Counsell told reporters Edward Cabrera will get the ball for his regularly scheduled start on Tuesday with Imanaga being pushed back to Wednesday’s twin bill instead. It’ll be Javier Assad drawing the starting assignment for the other doubleheader contest at Citi Field.

Romy Gonzalez (shoulder, hip) will resume a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Triple-A Worcester.

It’s an encouraging update after Gonzalez was briefly pulled off his rehab assignment with a hip flexor issue over the weekend. The 29-year-old infielder is probably going to need at least a week or two of game action before he’s ready to return to Boston for his season debut.

Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy told reporters Garrett Crochet (shoulder, lat) still hasn’t been cleared to start a throwing progression.

Not great. Crochet underwent followup imaging on Monday that showed improvement in his shoulder, but not enough for him to be cleared to start throwing again. The 27-year-old fantasy ace hit the injured list with a shoulder issue back in late April before suffering a lat strain a couple weeks later during his rehabilitation process. At this point it seems highly unlikely he’ll make it back to Boston’s rotation until sometime around August given how long it’ll take him to build up his arm strength and pitch count.

Brenton Doyle (oblique) and Jordan Beck (hamstring) will begin minor league rehab assignments on Tuesday with Triple-A Albuquerque.

Doyle has been on the shelf since late May recovering from an oblique issue while Beck hit the injured list with a left hamstring strain back in mid-May. The pair, who have been complete non-factors from a fantasy perspective this season, figure to make it back to Colorado’s crowded outfield mix by the end of June.

Jackson Holliday (groin) remains out of the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Angels.

Holliday remains on the bench for the second consecutive contest after exiting Saturday’s game against the Dodgers with groin tightness. It’s always challenging to rule out a potential trip to the injured list, but the Orioles have the depth to give the 22-year-old former top prospect a couple days off before making that determination. He’s presumably day-to-day for now. It’ll be Jeremiah Jackson drawing another start at the keystone in his place at Angel Stadium on Monday night.

Monday’s series opener between the Cubs and Mets was postponed due to inclement weather.

This contest stood zero chance with showers in the forecast throughout the evening at Citi Field. It’ll be made up as a split doubleheader on Wednesday. It’s a tough break for the Cubs as they’re rained out for the second consecutive contest, which pushes Shota Imanaga back an additional day. He’ll be pitching on seven days of rest when he gets the ball on Tuesday at Citi Field. It’ll likely be Kodai Senga drawing the starting assignment for his second turn in New York’s rotation after allowing four runs over four innings in his return from the injured list last week.

Rangers signed LHP Marco Gonzales to a minor league contract.

Gonzales will function as emergency organizational depth for the Rangers at Triple-A Round Rock. The 34-year-old southpaw was cut loosed by the Padres last week after posting a 7.99 ERA over 47 1/3 innings in their system. He hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since making seven starts for the Pirates during the 2024 campaign.
