POINT GUARD

Monte Morris – Denver (vs. Golden State) - DK: $4,700 / FD: $5,400 / Yahoo: $17
Denver played last night and is basically down to very few bodies. With Aaron Gordon and other guards failing to take advantage of increased usage with guys like Will Barton, Bones Hyland, and Jeff Green out, it is basically the Jokic and Morris show in Denver. Although this game has the makings of a defensive battle, the two teams just played in an extremely high scoring and fantasy-friendly game on Monday. Morris has been averaging about 36 fantasy points per game in the last week, including a well-rounded 37-fantasy point game vs. the Warriors. His salary is a welcome fit for all contests tonight.

Also Consider: Tyrese Maxey, Kyrie Irving

SHOOTING GUARD

James Harden – Philadelphia (vs. Brooklyn) - DK: $10,400 / FD: $10,200 / Yahoo: $50

Revenge game! I’m all in on the league’s newest dynamic duo tonight. Harden has been a great fit alongside Maxey and Embiid in Philly, scoring at will and averaging over 12 assists per game with his new team. The Nets are the best fantasy matchup on the slate overall, with good DvP to opposing guards. Harden checks in just cheaper than Durant on most sites, and has the better floor/ceiling combination going right now.

Also Consider: Moses Moody, Klay Thompson

SMALL FORWARD

Davon Reed – Denver (vs. Golden State) - DK: $3,300 / FD: $3,600 / Yahoo: $10

There’s no need to use Reed on Yahoo, but he does let you get to an upgrade like Maxey at guard on the other sites. Reed started with Jeff Green out for a personal reason last night, played 22 minutes and posted a 15-fantasy point line. In games where he’s played 19-22 minutes this month, he’s averaging about 18 fantasy points per game. It’s not great, but for the salary, it’s fine. His best game in the span, with 17 points, three rebounds, an assist and a steal came Monday vs. the Warriors. If Barton and Green are out again tonight, I see no reason not to try to catch a cheap 20 fantasy points with Reed.

Also Consider: Kevin Durant

POWER FORWARD

Andrew Wiggins – Golden State (at Denver) - DK: $7,000 / FD: $6,600 (SF) / Yahoo: $24

A word about the Warriors – they are all playing heavy minutes and all posting very similar fantasy lines. By all, I mean, Steph, Klay, Wiggins, Poole, and Moody (in the last two games) have been averaging around 32 fantasy points per game (ranging ~25-45) and even Kuminga and Looney are close to those numbers when seeing enough minutes. That is to say, that while salaries range from minimum $3-4K to near $10K, their production doesn’t warrant the huge discrepancy. It’s actually good for the team that everyone is contributing, but I can’t pay up for Curry when Poole and even Moody are getting close to his numbers, even out-scoring him at times. So, on sites where you have to roster by position tonight, I’m using Wiggins to fill in a SF/PF slot. Wiggins should have another high floor game, and Denver is the fourth-best matchup for PF, where Wiggins has been playing lately. He didn’t play in the recent matchup, but in two games vs. Denver this season he is averaging a respectable 32 fantasy points per game.

Also Consider: Tobias Harris, Kevon Looney

CENTER

Joel Embiid – Philadelphia (vs. Brooklyn) - DK: $10,800 / FD: $10,800 / Yahoo: $54

Jokic or Embiid? If you really can’t decide between them, you can play Yahoo and use them both in the MEGASTAR slot, or fade Harden and use both on DraftKings, but on FanDuel you’ll have to choose and my choice is Embiid. He gets a better matchup than Jokic (not that it really matters, but when you’re splitting hairs…) and didn’t play last night. This game has the much higher over/under (234.5 points), though both should be high scoring and competitive. The 76ers get the pace bump and will face the worst defensive team on the slate tonight (the Nets rank 23rd in defensive rating). You probably can’t go wrong with either guy to be honest.

Also Consider: Nikola Jokic

Additional Notes

Tyrese Maxey (G – PHI) is the guy I’m happy to see that I have enough salary to fit. Though many expected Harden’s arrival to blunt Maxey’s impact, it’s actually been no big deal to his production. Coming off a couple difficult matchups with Miami and Chicago, Maxey is due for a better effort tonight. His peripherals were down in the last two games, but he’s still playing 35-36 MPG and makes for a solid play in any contest tonight.

Kyrie Irving (G – BKN) is a great tournament alternative to Harden tonight. I believe both guards will play with a little chip on their shoulder, but the absence of Harden has allowed Irving to really impress when he plays.
