Fowler reportedly spoke to “some people who are hopeful” that Hurts can avoid injured reserve. He described the situation as being “very much touch and go” and said Tanner McKee will “probably” start multiple games. The Eagles go on bye in Week 10, so if Hurts does land on injured reserve, the Eagles’ Week 11 game against the Steelers would be his earliest possible return.
  • SF Wide Receiver #5
Even for an iron man like Evans, this is a little concerning. Frankly, we still expect Evans to play, but two missed practices due partially to Achilles “soreness” are less than ideal. The 49ers face the Commanders on Monday night. Making a backup plan is worthwhile at this time.
  • WAS Wide Receiver #17
The Commanders added a “rest” designation to McLaurin’s report, so fantasy managers should not be alarmed by today’s absence. The veteran wide receiver played through the injury last week and should be expected to do so again this week. McLaurin is a WR2 against the 49ers in Week 6’s Monday Night Football game.
  • SEA Quarterback #14
The Seahawks’ head coach stood by his quarterback today, saying Darnold is “definitely part of the solution” to the offense’s recent struggles. Darnold returned somewhat quickly from a glute tendon strain a couple of weeks ago. One wonders if he is still rounding back into form following the early-season ailment. Backup Drew Lock played well in his stead, but the Seahawks believe their Super Bowl-winning quarterback should keep his job. That makes sense to us. He’s a QB2 next week against the Chiefs.
  • IND Tight End #84
Warren popped up on the injury report on Friday after suffering the injury in practice. Fantasy managers who were relying on Warren likely won’t find a good enough option to replace him with proactively on waivers at this point, so it makes some sense to sit and wait for more reporting to come out or for him to be ruled out. This was, frankly, the last thing the Colts needed given how banged up their receiving corps has been.
  • TEN Running Back #2
Spears didn’t practice Thursday but was a full-go on Friday. He’ll be a sketchy FLEX option against the Colts in Week 6 assuming he plays; it sure does seem like he will after a full session.
  • PHI Wide Receiver #6
Smith sat out on Wednesday, but practiced in a limited capacity on Thursday before upgrading to full on Friday. Smith told media members earlier today that he is “good,” and that the toe injury is not an issue. Jalen Hurts (blood clot) is out indefinitely, so Smith will be working with pocket-passing backup Tanner McKee. The Panthers are currently without both of their starting perimeter cornerbacks. It might be a bit uncomfortable, but Smith is a WR2 in Week 6.
  • PHI Running Back #26
It was pretty clear that this was where things were headed when Barkley was unable to practice on Wednesday and Thursday. We do not yet know Barkley’s official Friday practice participation level, but he was not seen practicing during the portion of practice open to the media. Dameon Pierce, Carson Steele and practice squad player Jaydon Blue will likely split touches this week.
  • PHI Running Back #28
He’ll miss at least the next four weeks. Shipley was diagnosed with a partially torn plantar fascia and was set to miss multiple weeks per reporting, so this makes sense. By the time he comes back, Saquon Barkley should be healthy, so he’s not a must-keep in short-bench leagues.
  • BAL Wide Receiver #4
Perhaps feeling a bit wistful after spending a little of every week of the season on the injury report, Flowers got re-added Thursday with a limited session. He was limited again on Friday but is expected to play. There’s no further word on how serious this toe injury was, but he’s doing enough on the field in his limited time so far this year that nobody is seriously benching Flowers anyway.
