Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka said he was able to build lean muscle after allowing his body to rest early in the offseason.

As a 2025 rookie, Egbuka went straight from a championship season at Ohio State to training for the NFL Scouting Combine. From there, he went right into spring workouts and was never really able to take time off. He admits to wearing down in his first season with the Bucs, but he was finally able to take time off earlier this year and now feels like he is good shape for the 2026 season. Egbuka picked up hip and hamstring injuries in September and October and went from being the PPR WR10 in Weeks 1-10 to the WR55 in Weeks 11-18. Former Bucs WR Mike Evans returned from injury in Week 15 and QB Baker Mayfield was reportedly playing through multiple injuries of his own. The confluence of events certainly did not help Egbuka, and we find his weariness explanation plausible enough. A big-time bounce-back season for the second-year wide receiver is in the range of outcomes, especially since Evans is leaving a target vacuum.

Egbuka reportedly underwent more testing with a specialist today, who confirmed Ebuka indeed sprained his toe but determined that the injury is “stable.” This is great to hear. The second-year player is a high-ceiling WR2 candidate this season. The Buccaneers face the Bengals in Week 1, in what should be a fantasy-friendly environment.

As Garafolo notes, Bucky Irving said after practice that he thought Egbuka was okay, so this news shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. Still, it’s good to have that comment confirmed so quickly. For now, expect Egbuka to miss some time in practice while recovering from the issue. That will free up routes for rookie Tedd Hurst, who has already made a good impression at training camp. Fantasy managers can keep drafting Egbuka as a high-ceiling WR2 until further notice.
  • TB Wide Receiver #2
Egbuka reportedly limped off the practice field Wednesday with the help of Bucs trainers and was examined on the sideline for a while before watching the rest of practice with his cleats off. Though the Bucs are likely being cautious with the second-year stud receiver, Egbuka’s status will be well worth monitoring in the coming days. An Egbuka absence would open up an opportunity for WR Ted Hurst, who has impressed throughout the offseason.

Fox Sports’ Greg Auman reported the three lead Buccaneers receivers got the day off Tuesday. For Godwin, it is a veteran maintenance day as he aims to open the season fully healthy; expect him to see more maintenance days heading into preseason. Egbuka and McMillan are dealing with lower-body soreness and were held out of practice out of precaution. Ultimately, no major injury concerns as the Bucs play it safe with their top three wideouts in training camp.

Egbuka floundered a bit down the stretch for fantasy managers after a strong first half of the season — some of that was Mike Evans coming back from injury, some of it was Baker Mayfield apparently playing through several injuries on his own. Still, based on what he did in the first half of the season, it’s plausible to believe he could challenge for a low-end WR1 fantasy ranking in his second season. Robinson certainly had no problem loading up his best receiver (Drake London) with targets last year.
  • ATL Offensive Coordinator #5
Robinson joined Atlanta two years ago when the team hired Raheem Morris as their head coach. He had previously worked under Sean McVay for five years, working his way up to pass game coordinator for the final two. Robinson started off strong, getting Atlanta to 13th in points scored despite Kirk Cousins struggling in his first year as a Falcon. The switch to Michael Penix in 2025 didn’t go as planned and the team cratered to 24th in scoring. The hope for Baker Mayfield and company will be that Robinson was simply dealt a bad hand in Atlanta. The hiring bodes particularly well for Bucky Irving. Atlanta ranked top-10 in rushing yards in both of Robinson’s seasons with the team.
  • TB Wide Receiver #2
It was another disappointing game for Egbuka, who just didn’t show the same production after getting off to such a sensational start to begin the season. He still finishes with 938 yards on his 63 catches with six touchdowns, and it’s hard to imagine he won’t be one of the top options in the Bucs’ passing attack in 2026. The 23-year-old could get a chance to show out in a playoff game, but in order for that to happen, the Saints will have to beat the Falcons in Week 18
  • TB Wide Receiver #2
After Bucs OC Josh Grizzard said he wanted to get Egbuka involved early, Egbuka did not see a target in the first half of Week 17 against the Dolphins. He was No. 3 in snaps among Bucs wideouts with 39 snaps, though Jalen McMillan once again out-targeted Egbuka. Baker Mayfield failed to hit him on any deep targets, throwing an interception on a fourth quarter look. With the Bucs offense showing inconsistencies, the receiving corps healthy, and Mayfield not hitting deep targets, Egbuka has not been a usable fantasy receiver. The Bucs rookie will need a splash play to retain WR4 utility for Week 18 against the Panthers.
  • TB Wide Receiver #2
Egbuka had just one catch on two targets last week, though it did go for 40 yards. He ran fewer routes than Jalen McMillan, making him the Bucs’ No. 4 receiver. Grizzard’s comments make it sound like Egbuka’s role will grow in Week 17, but fantasy managers can’t count on Egbuka given his complete lack of production over the last two months. Egbuka will barely register as a WR5 for the final week of the fantasy football season.
  • TB Wide Receiver #2
Egbuka has continued to fall down the Bucs’ pass-catching hierarchy with Mike Evans and Jalen McMillan back in the lineup. He was third among Bucs wideouts in snaps, beating out McMillan 36-to-34. However, he ran just 15 routes to McMillan’s 19 routes. Egbuka was targeted just twice, but wound up as the Bucs’ leading receiver as his sole grab went for 40 yards in the fourth quarter. He is a tough fantasy play moving forward, with his snaps and routes suddenly under attack from McMillan. Egbuka is a fantasy WR4 for Week 17 against the Dolphins.

Saints HC Kellen Moore said the team is “still in collection mode” regarding Jordyn Tyson’s hamstring injury

This comes a day after we learned that Tyson is seeking multiple opinions on the hamstring injury he suffered on Thursday. At some point, the Saints will have collected enough information to feel comfortable telling us about Tyson’s injury, but for now, we will continue to wait. The longer this goes on, the worse the news will feel. Hopefully this is something that will only sideline Tyson for a few weeks, but given his history of hamstring injuries, which slowed him during the pre-draft process, it wouldn’t be surprising if his absence extended into the regular season. Hopefully we’ll have a clear answer on his status soon.

Ty Simpson completed 21-of-25 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s preseason game against the Chiefs.

Simpson played all but two drives for the Rams in this one, as Sean McVay gave his rookie first-rounder an extended first taste of NFL action. Simpson played about as clean of a game as one could have hoped for, avoiding sacks and turnovers while leading his team on three scoring drives. Simpson’s first touchdown pass came on a screen pass to running back Dean Conners, who took it into the end zone for the score. Later, Simpson connected with Conners on a two-yard score after he found a hole between two defenders to fit the ball into. We would expect Simpson to see another lengthy outing in next week’s game against the Saints.

Zach Wilson completed 11-of-16 passes for 145 yards and one touchdown in Saturday’s preseason game against the Jaguars.

Wilson took over in the second quarter for Spencer Rattler, who struggled mightily in his 2026 debut. Wilson, on the other hand, looked far more comfortable running the offense and completed four of his five pass attempts on distances of 10 or more air yards. He was a perfect 2-for-2 on passes of 20-plus yards. Wilson connected with tight end Oscar Delp on a one-yard pass for his lone touchdown of the day and led the Saints on two scoring drives. Given what we saw from both Wilson and Rattler today, it wouldn’t be surprising if Wilson pushes Rattler for the QB2 spot behind Tyler Shough.

Vikings HC Kevin O’Connell said the knee injury Jamal Adams suffered in Saturday’s preseason game against the Giants is “not good.”

This doesn’t come as much of a surprise after O’Connell sounded disappointed when discussing Adams’ injury after halftime. The 10-year vet had made a switch to linebacker last season and signed with the Vikings last month in hopes of carving out a role in Brian Flores’ defense. Adams has an MRI scheduled for tomorrow, which will reveal the extent of the damage.

Spencer Rattler completed 8-of-11 passes for 42 yards in Saturday’s preseason game against the Jaguars.

Rattler’s 3.8 yards per attempt won’t turn any heads, but the two sacks he took, one of which resulted in a lost fumble, might be enough to give Zach Wilson a chance at backup duties. Rattler didn’t complete a pass for more than nine yards on Saturday and will look to have a bounce-back performance in his next game, which is set for Saturday against the Rams.

Bills HC Joe Brady said DJ Moore was “good to go” after suffering an ankle injury in Saturday’s preseason game against the Panthers.

Moore had his ankle rolled up on late in the fourth quarter and could be seen working with trainers on the sideline. Despite the scare, Moore told Brady after the game that he was “good to go,” suggesting there won’t be much to worry about going forward. Moore was impressive in his Bills debut, catching 3-of-4 targets for 61 yards in limited action.

KC Concepcion caught 3-of-4 passes for 27 yards in Saturday’s preseason game against the Bears, adding one carry for 14 yards and a touchdown.

Concepcion did a little bit of everything in this one, with his most notable play coming on a 14-yard rushing touchdown on a jet sweep. The rookie first-rounder also had an impressive 31-yard punt return that would have gone for more if not for a shoestring tackle by Hayden Large. Concepcion played on 24 offensive snaps, with all four of his targets coming from Deshaun Watson. It was a strong debut for the explosive rookie, who is among the more intriguing sleepers in fantasy drafts this season.

Texans HC DeMeco Ryans said Graham Mertz suffered a torn ACL in Thursday’s preseason game against the Chargers.

This one was expected after the team said it feared Mertz suffered a torn ACL shortly after the game. Mertz joined the Texans as a rookie UDFA in 2025. He made the roster as the team’s third-string QB but did not attempt a pass. He will now be placed on injured reserve, ending his 2026 season. In a corresponding move, the Texans signed veteran QB Brett Rypien to the roster.

Shedeur Sanders completed 6-of-11 passes for 79 yards and an interception in Saturday’s preseason game against the Bears.

Playing with and against backups, Sanders started the second half for the Browns and came out with two solid throws. His first attempt was a 24-yard completion to Gage Larvadain, and he connected with wide receiver Luke Floriea on a nicely thrown deep ball for a 35-yard gain to convert a third-and-13 a few plays later. Unfortunately for Sanders, he managed just 20 yards on his next eight throws, with multiple passes being batted down at the line of scrimmage and his last throw being picked off on an errant pass that sailed well beyond his receiver. Both Sanders and Deshaun Watson committed turnovers in this one. Sanders is scheduled to make the start in the Browns’ next preseason game, which comes on Saturday at home against the Bills.

Vikings LB Jamal Adams (undisclosed) exited in the second quarter of Saturday’s preseason game against the Giants.

It was a non-contact injury for Adams, who is the latest player to fall victim to the MetLife Stadium turf. The veteran linebacker was seen holding his right leg after going down on the play, and head coach Kevin O’Connell said after halftime that the Vikings are “going to miss him.” O’Connell didn’t say Adams’ injury was a season-ender, but his tone suggested his 2026 season could be over. We’ll get more information on this soon, but it’s a brutal blow to Adams, who was carving out a nice role in Brian Flores’ defense.
