Bucs listed Jalen McMillan as a starting receiver on the team’s Week 1 depth chart.

It’s McMillan, not rookie WR Ted Hurst III, who’s listed as a starter alongside Chris Godwin and Emeka Egbuka ahead of Tampa’s Week 1 game against the Bengals. Hurst, the tallest of the Bucs wideouts, has by all accounts impressed Bucs players and coaches throughout the offseason and should have some kind of role in the team’s passing attack to start the year. It could be a while before Hurst takes on a more prominent role, however. Bucs general manager Jason Licht said last week that Hurst, 22, has “proven to us throughout camp, even OTAs, practice every day that he’s been very, very steady...it’s kind of evolved into okay, we can use him this year and he’s going to play a role.” Hurst can be stashed in deeper fantasy formats for now. McMillan is unlikely to be a factor in the Tampa offense after once again struggling with injuries this offseason.

Egbuka had been operating as the Bucs’ No. 1 receiver until this game. With Jalon Daniels struggling to get the deep ball going, he opted for easy completions to Cade Otton and Chris Godwin, who combined for 10 catches. Egbuka, in turn, was hung out to dry. He almost saved the day with a touchdown catch, but the throw was low and behind him. Egbuka still had a chance to bring in the pass but couldn’t corral it with a Green Bay defender smothering him in coverage. Egbuka hasn’t topped 64 yards in a game since Week 10 of last year. With Daniles under center for a few more weeks, it may be a while before Egbuka hits triple digits again. He is barely a WR3 for his Week 5 date with the Cowboys.

Hurst was the only Bucs pass-catcher to gain more than 20 yards on a single play. The passing game was otherwise relegated to intermediate throws and check-downs in Jalon Daniels’ first start. With Jalen McMillan on IR, Hurst has locked up a starting role. That simply is worth much for fantasy managers with a backup quarterback under center. Hurst will be a desperation FLEX play when he takes on the Cowboys next week.
  • TB Wide Receiver #14
UDFA rookie Jalon Daniels made his first career start and leaned on Godwin for some easy completions. Godwin led the team in catches and targets, though Cade Otton surprisingly led the way in yards with 37. Godwin set new season highs in targets and catches. The Bucs are operating an incredibly low-wattage offense without Baker Mayfield, but Godwin could continue to see enough work to return WR4 numbers in PPR leagues. He will put that to the test versus the Cowboys in Week 5.
  • TB Wide Receiver #14
Godwin was a full participant for two straight days after a Wednesday DNP. The insertion of Jalon Daniels makes him (well, makes every Buccaneers player) hard to trust for Week 4, but Godwin is probably still in the FLEX conversation.
  • TB Wide Receiver #14
Godwin should be expected to play in Week 4 against the Packers at this point, although he has mostly underperformed thus far. Buccaneers OC Zac Robinson said earlier that Godwin Jr. “is a stud and will continue to do his thing. The ball will find him.” That might be harder than one imagines with an undrafted free agent rookie at quarterback.
  • TB Wide Receiver #14
It will likely go down as a limited session for the veteran wideout, but Godwin should be on track to play in Week 4. The bad news is that he will do so with UDFA rookie Jalon Daniels as his quarterback. Godwin was already off to a slow start, and things aren’t likely to improve with a backup quarterback under center. He is low-wattage FLEX play for Week 4.
  • TB Wide Receiver #14
Godwin’s history of lower-leg injuries makes this a little bit concerning. The veteran wide receiver is already set to catch passes from a backup quarterback. If active, he may be playing on an injured ankle. He can only be viewed as a boom-bust FLEX at this time.

Imaging Monday confirmed a PCL sprain for McMillan, who will soon move to injured reserve with a month-plus recovery timeline. The Buccaneers are also dealing with an injury to quarterback Baker Mayfield’s thumb on his throwing hand, although initial testing was positive. Now sitting at 0-3 and in last place in the NFC South, they’ll likely look to youth to attempt to save their season. On that note, no team in the division currently holds a winning record through three weeks.

McMillan suffered a knee injury in the first quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Vikings and did not return to the game. The 24-year-old receiver has played in two games this season but has yet to register a catch on the nine offensive snaps he has played. It’s been a rough two seasons for McMillan, who missed nearly all of last season with a serious neck injury that sidelined him until Week 15.

McMillan sustained a knee injury in the first quarter and did not return to the game. The Bucs said they would evaluate the injury on Sunday night. Ted Hurst ran almost every route in the Tampa offense with McMillan sidelined, catching a 40-yard touchdown in the first half. Hurst would continue to play significant snaps if McMillan is out for a while.

Bucky Irvin rushed 21 times for 165 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers’ Week 5 win over the Cowboys, adding 10 yards and a touchdown on two receptions.

Irving cashed in on an early touchdown on the team’s first possession on a reception from quarterback Jalon Daniels on a leak to the right side of the formation, otherwise having a relatively quiet first half. Things would change in a hurry after the break as Irving ripped off a 72-yard explosive run on the first play from scrimmage in the third quarter. He would cash in on his second trip to paint on the following drive from one yard out before somewhat confusingly retreating to the sideline without his helmet the following two possessions. That raised speculation that his glute injury had flared up, a notion he would dispel in the fourth quarter as he helped to ice the game. This game goes down as his first 100-yard rushing game since Week 16 of his rookie season in 2024. Irving remains a volatile RB2 ahead of a Week 6 meeting with the Steelers.

Jalon Daniels completed 19-of-25 passes for 189 yards and one touchdown in the Buccaneers’ 24-16, Week 5 win over the Cowboys, adding 23 yards on seven carries.

Daniels watched from the sideline as the Cowboys took the opening possession for quick touchdown drive, responding in splendid fashion by piecing together the longest Buccaneers drive since 2007 to knot the game at seven at the start of the second quarter. A last-minute Brandon Aubrey field goal at the end of the first half sent the Buccaneers to the break down by three but two early touchdowns after the break gave the Buccaneers a lead they would not relinquish. Running back Bucky Irving broke free for a 72-yard gain on the first play of the third quarter and Emeka Egbuka would punch it in on a 14-yard rush the following play. A Dak Prescott interception on the subsequent possession gave the ball right back to Daniels and the Buccaneers. Another explosive play, this time a 64-yard, catch-and-run dime to Tez Johnson got them immediately back into scoring position. Daniels picks up his first professional win in his second career start while the Buccaneers improve to 1-4, miraculously only 1.5-games back of the division lead. Daniels will be a shaky QB2 when the Bucs host the Steelers in Week 6, assuming he gets at least one more start for the injured Baker Mayfield.

Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb (quad) is questionable to return to Week 5 against the Buccaneers.

Lamb departed in the fourth quarter with a quad injury. He tried to return but managed one snap before making his way back to the sideline, coming back on the field later in the drive for a two-point attempt. He was shown on the sideline in visible discomfort following the additional two snaps. Lamb managed to catch just 2-of-5 targets for nine yards prior to departing. Fantasy managers will want to track his status in the coming week, although the additional recovery time could allow him to avoid any missed games.

Christian Benford (toe) was limited on Thursday.

Benford has a chance to return for his team’s Monday Night Football game against the Rams. That said, his play declined last year, and it hasn’t exactly rebounded. If active, Benford should not dissuade anyone from treating the Rams’ wide receivers as they normally would.

Keon Coleman (ankle) is practicing in full for Week 5 against the Rams.

Coleman should be good to go for the Bills’ Monday Night Football game against the Rams this week. He had a career day in Week 4, with a 6/116/1 receiving line. We have seen Coleman produce solid outings in the past, so caution is advised if one is to consider believing the hype. That said, he rose to the occasion last week and could do so again in what should be a high-scoring game.

Cowboys LG Tyler Smith (thumb) is active for Week 5 against the Buccaneers.

Smith’s return is a big deal for the Cowboys’ offense. The Ringer’s James Palmer reports that Smith’s conditioning is good to go, though his grip strength is still an issue, so he will play with a wrap on his recently rehabbed digit.

Seahawks RB George Holani (ribs) was limited on Thursday.

Holani should be good to go for the Seahawks’ Week 5 game against the 49ers, but he is certainly working through a decent little injury. The trusted passing game specialist should handle his normal workload, although he is only a touchdown-dependent PPR FLEX.

Cardinals DT Walter Nolen (calf) was added to the injury report on Thursday.

The Cardinals’ defense is fairly banged up, and now their star defensive tackle is ailing. He appeared on the injury report as a limited participant today, indicating he suffered the calf injury in practice. Hopefully, it is minor. Stay tuned.

Jeremiyah Love (ankle) was limited on Thursday.

The Cardinals’ star rookie running back appeared downtrodden after last week’s game after injuring his other ankle. His continued participation puts him on track to play, but his comments about occasionally preferring a snap count, coupled with his new injury, put him in the RB2/3 category. That said, the Cardinals’ game environment against the Lions this week should be fantasy-friendly.

Cowboys declare CB Joey Porter, LB DeMarvion Overshown, CB Cobie Durant, OLB James Houston, OG Ajani Cornelius, OT Drew Shelton and WR Camden Brown inactive for Week 5 against the Buccaneers.

Porter’s bumpy 2026 campaign takes another surprising turn. The Cowboys’ new cornerback was set to expand his involvement this evening, but he is evidently unable to play due to an illness. Fortunately for the Cowboys, the Buccaneers’ offense is hamstrung by Baker Mayfield’s (thumb) absence.
