Kenyon Sadiq (hernia) only out a couple of weeks

“We’ll have to work him in slowly,” Reich concluded. Sadiq has plenty of upside, but it doesn’t sound like he needs to be on the redraft radar early in the year unless you play in a deep enough league to make stashing him worthwhile.

This comes a few hours after it was reported that Hall was “moving well” while participating in agility drills on the sideline. Hall suffered a groin injury last week and is expected to miss two or three weeks, but a return in time for Week 1 was always in the cards. Hall is one of several players Glenn is hoping to have back in time for Week 1. He also said he expects TE Kenyon Sadiq (hernia) and CB D’Angelo Ponds (calf) to be ready for Week 1. Hall is in the mix as a fringe RB1/RB2 this season and is expected to handle another heavy workload in his fifth season.

Glenn said the same last week, so it’s good to know plans haven’t changed. That said, the rookie tight end has been sidelined since early August after suffering a setback in his recovery from offseason hernia surgery, so it’s hard to imagine him having much of an impact in Week 1, even if active. We’ll continue to get updates on Sadiq until he’s back on the field, but at least he appears to be on track to meet Glenn’s return timeline. In addition to Sadiq, Glenn said he also expects CB D’Angelo Ponds (calf) to return for Week 1.

Missing as much time as he did this offseason and in training camp, it’s unlikely Sadiq will have an immediate fantasy impact.

The rookie did not participate in OTAs and minicamp and will be behind entering camp, per Jets OC Frank Reich, but they have a plan to get him up to speed once he returns. The Jets used the No. 16 overall pick on Sadiq in this year’s draft, hoping his elite athleticism and 4.39 speed can add another element to an offense that finished 29th in scoring last season. How the Jets plan to use Sadiq in his rookie season will determine his fantasy outlook, but he could turn into a solid late-round value if he factors into the passing game early on.

Per Glenn, the Jets knew about this issue before the draft, so it doesn’t come as a surprise to the team. Still, it’s a slight concern that Sadiq will miss some valuable reps during the offseason program. If he is full-go for camp, this won’t be much of an issue, but there is now some injury-related risk with the rookie tight end. Sadiq will likely open his career in a timeshare with 2025 second-round pick Mason Taylor. For now, fantasy managers should treat Sadiq as a high-upside TE2.
