Patriots WR Romeo Doubs remains sidelined on Thu.

49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk obviously comes to mind, and multiple team sources tell Keim that the Commanders are “well aware” of Aiyuk’s “desire” to be reunited with his former college quarterback, Jayden Daniels, but Keim believes the Commanders are unlikely to trade for him. If Aiyuk were to be released, Keim thinks only a one-year, prove-it deal would be offered. Keim follows the Aiyuk section by saying the Commanders could also draft a receiver. Perhaps the team is negotiating through the media. Perhaps not. Hopefully, things will become clearer in the coming weeks and months. Keim adds that the front office would have pursued Colts WR Alec Pierce had he not re-signed with Indianapolis and, per Keim, Pierce “absolutely” would have signed with Washington in that scenario. The Commanders also pursued former Packers WR Romeo Doubs but lost out to the Patriots.

The Patriots released Diggs this month before free agency began. Last year Diggs led the Patriots with a 20 percent target share and finished the regular season with 1,017 yards and four touchdowns. Doubs, Graf said, “can play on the outside. He can make up for a lot of the production over the middle that Stefon Diggs brought last season. He should help the offense’s red zone woes (20 of his 23 career touchdowns have come in the red zone). He can pull down deep balls, which Maye thrives at.” Doubs in 2025 led the Packers with five end zone targets and 17 inside-the-20 targets. He could have some touchdown-based upside in New England’s balanced offense in 2026. The Patriots could still acquire A.J. Brown in the coming weeks depending on the Eagles’ asking price. That move would likely make Doubs a distant WR2 in the Pats offense.

The Patriots secured the first new weapon for Drake Maye in Doubs, who will profile as the team’s No. 1 wideout after spending four seasons in Green Bay vying for targets. Doubs has been a stead producer throughout his career, totaling 202 receptions for 2,424 yards and 21 touchdowns in 59 career games while posting a respectable 0.202 targets per route run, per TruMedia. The former fourth-round pick posted a career-high 724 yards last season while averaging 13.2 YPR, and profiles primarily as an outside receiver with 82.9 percent of his snaps coming from out wide. His ability to stretch the field and haul in contested catches (48.2 percent contested catch rate) should pair well with Maye, who tied for the ninth-most deep ball attempts (62) last season and finished second on deep ball completion rate (54.8 percent). Doubs makes for an interesting WR2/WR3 candidate in fantasy leagues, but could have upside for more if he becomes the featured receiver in New England.

He is, per Wolfe, the No. 1 priority. But the asking price is “still very high” and so there’s not much common ground on a deal. In other words, nothing has changed. The Patriots have continually leaked interest in other receivers and have been linked to Romeo Doubs, but to nobody’s surprise, Mike Vrabel would rather have Brown as his No. 1 target and that has taken priority.

This isn’t much of a surprise as all signs have pointed toward a new home for Doubs in the early offseason. Now that appears to be a done deal. Green Bay will move forward with a starting receiver rotation of Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, and Matthew Golden. Doubs will have plenty of suitors on the open market. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler recently linked him to the Patriots, Commanders, Titans, and 49ers. Doubs won’t earn a No. 1 role on his new team, but he could see an uptick in targets if he lands in the right spot.

Doubs, who will definitely hit the market per Fowler, likely profiles as the second-best receiver after Alec Pierce and could be in for a pretty big payday of his own. This is essentially the same list of teams that have been linked to Pierce by Fowler in the column minus the Raiders. Doubs is entering his age-26 season in 2026 and should retain value throughout his free-agent contract.

The Joshua Palmer fantasy stock could be in shambles, folks. Buscaglia connects the Bills to a wide assortment of receivers, notably stopping for a beat on Romeo Doubs, Jalen Nailor, and Calvin Austin as particularly good fits for Buffalo. Moore and Khalil Shakir are the two easy top targets, any other additions would likely sink Palmer into a background role in the second year of his contract.

He also links Romeo Doubs to the 49ers, who will have a big hole at wideout with the expected release of Brandon Aiyuk and impending free agency of Jauan Jennings. We’ve yet to see any beat or any of the sources report Jennings as someone the 49ers believe will return. The 49ers do hypothetically have the cap space to be involved in the Pierce sweepstakes if they’d like to be, but we’d be surprised if they won a bidding war against the major salary cap space super powers.

If the Commanders were to make such a move, though, Keim believes that “they’d still likely pursue another wideout to pair with Terry McLaurin.” Keim lists 49ers WR Jauan Jennings, Packers WR Romeo Doubs, Colts WR Alec Pierce and Seahawks WR Rashid Shaheed as potential options. Commanders general manager Adam Peters is expected to be very active next week.

The Bills can’t really afford to give out $25 million a year on an Alec Pierce deal, so it makes sense to see them connected to the top of the second tier of the free agent market. Either of these players being added would probably spell the end for Josh Palmer in the fantasy football landscape. Fowler adds that the Raiders have been linked to Shaheed, and that Doubs is a potential option for the 49ers.
