Giants signed OG Jon Runyan to a two-year, $22 million extension through 2028.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the deal includes $21.5 million in guarantees. He was entering the final year of a three-year, $30 million contract signed in the 2024 offseason. The 29-year-old is probably more of a stopgap than a long-term fixture for the Giants at this point, but he should start in Week 1.

Runyan suffered a season-ending high-ankle sprain in Week 14. He reportedly underwent a tightrope procedure to stabilize the syndesmotic joint, as well as a ligament repair operation to fix the torn deltoid ligament in his inner ankle. Runyan also revealed that he played shoulder a separated shoulder last season. The Giants have handled Runyan’s recovery cautiously, but he was able to participate in team drills last week. If healthy this season, it stands to reason that Runyan could improve his play.

Giants beat writer Art Stapleton said following Daboll’s presser that it “sounds like [Runyan] could be done for the year.” The Giants signed Runyan to a three-year, $30 million deal this offseason to tighten up the left side of their offensive line. The fifth-year guard has started all 13 games he’s appeared in this season, earning a PFF blocking grade of 56.1 while allowing two sacks on 29 pressures. Given the nature of his injury and the fact the Giants are sitting on a 2-11 record, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the team shut Runyan down for the remainder of the season.

Few teams needed more offensive line help than the Giants, who ranked dead last in PFF pass blocking and 30th in run blocking. Runyan has started every game he’s played since 2021 and can line up at either guard position, although he’s played almost exclusively at right guard since 2022. The Giants cut ties with veteran guard Mark Glowinski, who was second along the line in offensive snaps (1,169), creating an immediate void on the right side that Runyan can now fill.

Son of Jon Runyan Sr., a 14-year pro who was once the highest-paid lineman in the NFL, the Wolverines’ left tackle was groomed in the sport and inherited his father’s trademark nastiness in bulldozing oncoming defenders in the run game. His versatility at both left and right tackle in college, as well as the few snaps he took in between at guard, should compensate for his subpar feet, length, and strength at the next level. Overall, Runyan (6'4/306) is an above-average athlete who projects best on the interior line but may be asked to compete at multiple positions in camp.

Runyan, the son of former Pro Bowler Jon Runyan -- was a solid performer for Michigan in his four years at the school, and he also had a solid NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. “He’s inconsistent taking control into initial engagements, but stays after it and recovers back into the second phase of the block,” writes Zierlein. “He plays with high hands that diminish power and control, but that should improve as he slides inside to guard.” Be it as a tackle of as an interior lineman, Runyan likely comes off the board on Day 3.

That time is good for 10th best among the offensive lineman who ran in Indianapolis on Friday. The son of former Pro Bowl tackle Jon Runyan was also 10th with his 4.69 second 20-yard shuttle, and he posted the third-best three-cone drill time at 7.57 seconds. Runyan had some questions about his athleticism coming into the event, but this was a solid showing. The 6-foot-4, 306-pound tackle is a likely draft pick on Day 3.

In 2018 Runyan (6'5/321) started all 13 games at left tackle for Michigan earning All Big Ten first-team honors. The son of former 14-year NFL legend Jon Runyan, he has the kind of NFL lineage teams look for. A slow developer, Runyan only started one game for the Wolverines in his first three years on campus before emerging last season. Though he has made great improvements at left tackle, Runyan was exposed by the more talented defensive ends he faced this year. He is likely a UDFA candidate due to limited athleticism and questions about his ability to add strength.

Runyan (6'5/310) sat out Michigan’s first two games, but following the team’s bye week, has been practicing in the leadup to Saturday’s big intra-conference showdown with the Badgers. He’ll start at left tackle against Wisconsin assuming no setbacks. Runyan has NFL intrigue for next spring, though he might have to kick inside for the pro ranks.

Runyan (6'5/310) has to improve his stock during his senior season and during the pre-draft process. Only a three-star recruit coming out of high school, Runyan was a surprise first-team All-Big Ten recipient last season at left tackle. Most draft analysts believe Runyan will have to play inside to have a shot in the NFL.

Runyan (6'5/310) is more under the radar than other top offensive line prospects, but it doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have top-75 potential. A former three-star recruit, Runyan has outplayed his ranking at Michigan, earning AP first-team All-Big Ten recognition in 2018. Last season, Runyan was a left tackle, but Miller expects Runyan to slide inside in the NFL.

Tua Tagovailoa (oblique) will not practice on Wednesday.

This all but rules him out for Week 2. Cooper Rush is getting treatment for the back injury he played through in Week 1 and can also be considered questionable. With Michael Penix not quite ready to return from his 2025 knee injury yet, the Falcons could be down to Jack Strand for their date with the Panthers.

Dolphins placed Kyle Louis (MCL) on injured reserve.

Louis suffered an MCL sprain in Week 1. He was initially expected to miss a few weeks, and now that number will be at least four while he’s on injured reserve. The team signed cornerback Jaylin Simpson to their active roster in a corresponding move.

ESPN’s Dan Franziano reports Brock Bowers’ knee injury is not “overly serious” and it’s possible he plays in Week 2 against the Chargers.

The fact that Bowers isn’t expected to practice today suggests Week 2 is not on the table. Bowers underwent a meniscus trim just before the start of the season and missed Week 1. According to Graziano’s sources, “The team felt he could have played last week if necessary.” That would have been an absurdly quick turnaround for a meniscus trim procedure, though Bowers is already known as a player who tries to push through serious injuries. Graziano added that the latest he thinks Bowers will play is Week 4, which is good news for fantasy managers. Michael Mayer will continue to start in his place until Bowers returns.

Patriots coach Mike Vrabel said he thinks TreVeyon Henderson (ankle) will “be able to do some more” during Wednesday’s practice.

Vrabel told reporters Henderson was expected to practice on Monday, so it sounds like the first steps in his return to play are going as planned. He will presumably be limited for today’s session. Rhamondre Stevenson was dreadfully inefficient in Week 1, averaging 2.8 yards per carry on 18 attempts. The Pats desperately need a spark on offense, and Henderson should give that to them once he’s healthy.

Jalen McMillan (knee) is practicing in full on Wednesday.

McMillan missed Week 1 due to a knee issue, despite getting in three limited practices during the week. He was listed as doubtful and the team ruled him out ahead of kickoff. It seems like the team was taking a cautious approach with his return from the training camp injury, and he should be good for Week 2. McMillan is expected to take rookie Ted Hurst’s spot in the lineup at X. Hurst managed just three catches for 36 yards in the role. In his first game of the season, McMillan will be buried in the WR5 ranks for fantasy purposes.

Tyrone Tracy (illness) did not practice Wednesday.

Tracy has the flu, according to head coach John Harbaugh. He said the hope is that Tracy is back for tomorrow’s practice. Tracy was demoted from the RB2 role in Week 1 after losing a fumble on his second carry of the night. He did not play a snap on offense after the turnover. The missed practice time this week could be reason enough for the Giants to make him inactive in favor of Najee Harris on Sunday. Either way, Tracy is not worth stashing even in deep fantasy leagues.

Zay Flowers (hamstring) was not seen participating in Wednesday’s practice.

It’s possible Flowers gets in some light work after the media portion of the practice, but this should go down as a DNP. Flowers left the Ravens’ Week 1 win over the Colts in the first half. He already had 150 yards and a touchdown to his name. The hamstring issue isn’t believed to be serious, but the team may want to take a cautious approach and hold him out for a week. With Ja’Kobi Lane out because of a broken wrist, Rashod Bateman and Mark Andrews would be the top targets for Lamar Jackson if Flowers is also sidelined.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid said “there’s a pretty good chance” Mansoor Delane (shoulder) is in uniform and available for Week 2 against the Colts.

Delane left Week 1 with a right shoulder injury and did not return. He underwent X-rays after exiting the game and the results were negative. Reid specifically said he expects Delane to be available, but that doesn’t rule out a reserve role if the team wants to play it safe with the rookie. He is expected to practice today, presumably in a limited capacity.

Chig Okonwko (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday.

Okonkwo left Week 1 in the third quarter with the hamstring issue and did not return. A DNP today puts him on the wrong side of questionable for Week 2. John Bates and Ben Sinnott each ran 10 routes on Sunday. They would likely split Okonkwo’s role if he can’t suit up, meaning their isn’t much fantasy value to be had here.

49ers promoted KhaDarel Hodge to the team’s active roster.

This comes as the Niners placed rookie WR De’Zaun Stribling (ankle) on injured reserve, meaning he’ll be sidelined for at least four weeks. Hodge isn’t likely to see many snaps or routes this week against the Dolphins and should remain on waiver wires.
