Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur said RB Jeremiyah Love (ankle) will be a game-day decision for Week 1 against the Chargers.

Two ESPN reports over the last 24 hours have indicated Love will likely play, though no one has actually confirmed this. LaFleur also said that Love is “trending well” while speaking to media members before Friday’s practice. If he practices fully, he should be good to go. He still has a chance to play even if he remains limited, but RB Tyler Allgeier might take on a few extra touches in that scenario. Stay tuned.

On Friday, Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur said Love and RB Tyler Allgeier are going to rotate this season. Ultimately, they did in Week 2, but Love was in for the first series, running the ball on three of the Cardinals’ first six plays. The rookie running back looks spry and explosive, yet there was simply no room to run against the Seahawks’ elite defense. Although Love is still splitting snaps with RB Tyler Allgeier, Love out-touched him 12-7 this week. Love can be viewed as a low-end RB2/FLEX next week against the 49ers.

LaFleur is again insisting that Love, the No. 3 overall pick of this year’s draft, and 2026 free agent signee Allgeier will rotate in the backfield, while adding that it “is a long season.” Love saw 13 touches in last week’s win over the Chargers, while Allgeier had 19, and was out-snapped by Allgeier 41 to 32. A similar rotation going forward would put a damper on Love’s week-to-week upside after the rookie spent most of the offseason going as a top-30 pick in fantasy drafts, but he’ll maintain a decent value as long as he continues to see double-digit touches. Both Love and Allgeier will be hard to trust as anything more than fringe RB2/RB3 this week against the Seahawks.

Breer believes the split from Week 1 is “probably a good window into how they’ll manage” Love’s rookie year. Not exactly what we wanted to hear. Breer also mentions that James Connor could “help lighten the load” when he comes back. Love had 13 touches in Week 1. It sounds like this backfield will run by committee even after spending the No. 3 overall pick on Love.

Love was out-snapped 41 to 32 by Tyler Allgeier, who also handled 17 rush attempts compared to Love’s 11. While there was some concern over whether or not Love was on a snap count due to his ankle injury, LaFleur said the usage between the two backs was based on game flow. Love still managed to see 15 opportunities (11 rushes, 4 targets) in the win, but as long as he and Allgeier continue to split work, he will be hard to trust as anything more than a fringe RB2/RB3. Next week’s game against a stout Seahawks defense makes both backs risky bets.

Love started strong, running over LA defenders and scoring a first quarter touchdown while running almost all the routes out of the backfield. He ended up splitting route running duties with Tyler Allgeier, who also had two looks from Jacoby Brissett and led the Arizona backfield with 17 carries. Love ranked sixth among all running backs in rush yards over expected per attempt in Week 1. Perhaps the team wants to ease Love into a workhorse role as the season wears on. He’ll be a risky flex play in Week 2 against a stellar Seahawks defense.

Love missed a few weeks after sustaining a high ankle injury in his only preseason action but had enough time to get right before Week 1. The rookie first rounder will likely function as Arizona’s unquestioned No. 1 back barring any setbacks to his ankle injury. While his Week 1 matchup against LA is less than ideal, Love should be in all fantasy lineups. Cardinals declared Carson Beck, RG Isaiah Adams, DB Garrett Williams, S Rabbit Taylor-Demerson, DL Andrew Billings, and WR Reggie Virgil inactive for the team’s season opener.

Love was limited in practice throughout the week. Head coach Mike LaFleur, however, said he would have no limitations in practice as early as Wednesday, so the limited designation is likely a technicality. He was listed as questionable at the end of the week and LaFleur called him a game-time decision. Love has been trending in the right direction for a while and should be good to go when the Cardinals release their inactives. He will likely split work with Tyler Allgeier, keeping him in the RB2 ranks for his NFL debut.

Weinfuss received this information from a source familiar with the situation, but this news isn’t all that surprising. Love has logged back-to-back limited practices to start the week, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Thursday that “it looks like” Love will suit up in Week 1. The first-round rookie is expected to split touches with Tyler Allgeier, who was listed as the RB1 on the Cardinals’ unofficial depth chart earlier this week, but we would still expect Love to see enough touches to warrant starting as a mid- to low-end RB2 in his regular-season debut.

Love is on track to play in Week 1 against the Chargers, though he could rotate in behind RB Tyler Allgeier, the team’s nominal starter. Earlier today, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said “it looks like” Love is going to be active for the season opener, though he stopped short of declaring it. Love would be a FLEX starter or better if active.

Love logged a limited session on Wednesday, and veteran RB Tyler Allgeier was listed as the team’s starter on the official depth chart. That said, the No. 3 overall pick can not simply be relegated to a pure backup role if healthy. As long as Love is practicing fully by Friday, he should be in fantasy lineups as a FLEX starter at worst.

Steelers HC Mike McCarthy said he is unsure if Michael Pittman (foot) will play in Week 3 against the Bengals.

McCarthy said Pittman is making good progress in his recovery, but noted that this is not the same injury he sustained during training camp. Pittman did not practice leading up to last week’s game against the Patriots and will likely need to log a few limited sessions to have a chance to suit up this week. Germie Bernard ended up seeing eight targets in Pittman’s absence against the Pats, but Aaron Rodgers’ dink-and-dunk style of play makes any receiver in this offense hard to trust for fantasy purposes.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Packers are “still evaluating” the treatment and recovery timeframe for Jayden Reed (back) after Week 2’s injury.

Schefter clarifies this as a back injury after it was initially updated by the Packers as a neck injury. Neither of those designations are promising signs for him. Reed’s absence, should it continue into this week, would strengthen fantasy floors for Christian Watson, Matthew Golden, and Tucker Kraft. The Packers used a platoon of players to replace Reed, lead by Skyy Moore.

Commanders HC Dan Quinn said S Nick Cross spent the night in the hospital on Sunday night due to an “internal injury” he suffered in Week 2 against the Cowboys.

Quinn didn’t disclose any specifics about Cross’ injury, but he did share that Cross was discharged from the hospital on Monday and is making his way back to the team. We’ll see if Cross is able to get on the practice field this week, but the Commanders could be looking at yet another key player being sidelined for Week 3’s game against a Seahawks team that is off to a 2-0 start.

The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero reports Marcus Mariota is expected to start in Week 3 against the Seahawks.

Head coach Dan Quinn confirmed Pelissero’s report shortly after it was announced. The 0-2 Commanders will host the Seahawks for their home opener with Mariota under center in what has become an all-too-familiar sight for Commanders fans. With Jayden Daniels (elbow) out for the foreseeable future, Mariota will likely make multiple starts in the coming weeks. The former No. 2 overall pick threw for 1,695 yards, 10 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in 11 games last season while leading the team to a 2-6 record in his eight starts. Mariota has proven to be a viable option in 2QB/Superflex leagues, but he should be avoided in this week’s tough matchup against the Seahawks.

Jayden Daniels (elbow) underwent imaging and he and the team will “consult with a variety of experts” over the next few days.

We’re not likely to hear much on the long-term status of Daniels this week — maybe something breaks by Thursday or Friday — but it is very clear he won’t be starting again in the short-term. Gathering a variety of medical opinions rather than relying on the team doctor is, more often than not, a predecessor to some sort of surgery. It would be hasty to say that’s where this is headed, but it wouldn’t be surprising if it wound up that way given how bad the injury looked on the field.

Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald said Sam Darnold (glute) is on track to practice this week.

FOX Sports’ Megan Olivi reported on Sunday that the Seahawks “are aiming” to have Darnold play in Week 3 against the Commanders. It goes without saying that Darnold will need to get a few days of practice in if he hopes to suit up, making this a big week for the Seahawks’ QB1 as he looks to get back on the field. Darnold’s injury wasn’t as severe as the team initially feared when he exited in Week 1 against the Patriots, but with a game against the 0-2 Commanders on the horizon, it’s possible the team doesn’t look to rush him back to the field if he’s not close to 100 percent. His practice status will be worth monitoring throughout the week, but if he’s held out, Drew Lock will make at least one more start in what should be a plus matchup for fantasy managers.

The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero reports Kyler Murray has cleared concussion protocol and will start in Week 3 against the Buccaneers.

The 2-0 Vikings will hopefully get their first full look at Murray, who exited in Week 1 after just 11 snaps. Murray will face a Buccaneers defense that ranks 24th in points allowed through the first two weeks and has allowed the 11th-most passing yards and the 10th-highest net yards per pass attempt. Murray has a nice supporting cast to work with and brings plenty of rushing upside, but fantasy managers shouldn’t view him as anything more than a mid-QB2 until we see how he functions in his first full game or two with the team.

Saints T Kelvin Banks is expected to undergo ankle surgery after tests revealed a “severe” high-ankle sprain.

He’s out indefinitely and this will be a major blow for the Saints offense. There’s a chance he returns at some point later this season. He almost undoubtedly will end up on injured reserve in the next few days. Banks had a 73.5 PFF grade last year as one of the brighter rookie tackles of the class of 2025. Asim Richards would seem like the likely short-term replacement.

Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur said he “wouldn’t look into too much” about Marvin Harrison Jr.'s usage in Week 2 because “we didn’t throw the ball for crap anyway.”

“Schematically, it wasn’t good,” LaFleur added, presumably while giving himself a wedgie. Harrison only saw one official target — another was wiped away by penalty — and he played just 74 percent of the snaps. The real problem here is that when the Cardinals ran well on offense in Week 1, Harrison had just one catch for 33 yards on three targets. He’s going to be hard to trust in any given week until we see it “click” in some way with LaFleur’s offense.

Speaking on the Pat McAfee show, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Puka Nacua (hip) is “trending towards not playing” in Week 2 against the Giants.

The Rams will announce their inactives 90 minutes before kickoff, but this is now the second time in two days that Schefter has suggested Nacua will not suit up tonight. Schefter said the team is “not giving up hope” that Nacua could still suit up, but also added, “it doesn’t sound promising right now.” If Nacua is unable to go in Week 2, Davante Adams would be an obvious favorite to see an increase in targets, while running backs Kyren Williams and Blake Corum could also get more involved as the Rams look for ways to move the ball against a Giants team that gave the Cowboys’ offense fits in Week 1.
