NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe reports the Jaguars are “unlikely” to extend Parker Washington before Week 1.

Per Wolfe, the Jags explored a deal similar to that of Michael Wilson, who just landed a three-year, $75 million extension. The two sides couldn’t agree to terms, and Washington will now start his contract year. It’s a highly risky move for a largely unheralded player who caught lightning in a bottle at the end of last year. Washington caught 29 passes for 507 yards and three touchdowns in his final five games, including one postseason appearance. If he repeats anything close to those numbers over a full season this year, Washington will make far more than Wilson as a free agent next offseason.

Washington also added three yards with one carry on the ground. After a hot start to the season, Washington was relatively quiet against the Bengals. The Jaguars receivers combined for just 11 of Trevor Lawrence’s 23 targets and Washington saw three of those. His first reception came in the fourth quarter on a 40-yard catch-and-run that would have sealed the game, but was called back after replay showed he stepped out of bounds after seven yards. Game script and the Bengals’ tight end weaknesses played a factor in this game, with Brenton Strange the primary target on the day. Washington should still be the Jaguars’ No. 1 receiver and is a fantasy WR2 for Week 5 against the Eagles.

It’s Washington’s second touchdown in the Jags’ first three games of the season. Washington caught his touchdown against the Patriots after having an acrobatic touchdown grab called back on a penalty. Having established himself as the team’s clear-cut WR1 — well ahead of Brian Thomas, who had one target in Week 3 — Washington will have a rock solid weekly floor with ceiling to spare in shootout game scripts. Washington should remain in all lineups next week against a middling Bengals defense, in what could be a high-scoring affair between two potent offenses.

Trevor Lawrence, as always, targeted Washington heavily, as no other Jacksonville pass catcher saw more than eight targets on the day. Washington came within half a yard of a touchdown in the first half after scoring in Week 1 against the Browns. Clearly the team’s No. 1 wideout, Washington should have a rock-solid weekly floor with upside to spare, especially when the Jaguars have to operate a more pass-heavy offense. Washington will be a top-15 play next week against the Patriots.

Washington saw elite usage in the first half, making the first Jacksonville catch of the game and ending the Jaguars’ first drive with a diving 30-yard touchdown reception. He followed it up with a one-handed sideline catch on the second drive and tallied five receptions in the first half. His usage was that of a legitimate No. 1 wide receiver for the Jaguars’ fantasy-friendly offense. The game was out of hand in the second half, leading to no more receptions the rest of the day, but fantasy managers will be happy with Washington’s utilization and production as he adds to his elite box scores from the end of last season. Washington is a fantasy WR2 heading into Week 2 against the Broncos.

Coen also noted that Washington is “the guy right now,” suggesting that his role as the returner could change at some point in the year. Washington returned 25 punts for the Jaguars last season and racked up 341 return yards and two touchdowns on those returns. Coen said the Jaguars will hope to get Travis Hunter involved as the punt returner at some point, but Washington will start the season in the role. Washington profiles as a solid WR2 to start the fantasy season after going for 58-847-5 last year.

Jags GM James Gladstone said last week that the team was open to an in-season extension with Washington, who is set to hit free agency next offseason. Both sides want to get a deal done, but they are clearly still at odds over the details of the contract. Even if it takes longer than expected, it does look like Washington will sign an extension before he gets to test the waters of free agency. Coming off an outstanding training camp, Washington should be treated as a fantasy WR2 for the Jags’ Week 1 date with the Browns.

Washington, 24, is entering a contract year, coming off the best season of his career. He is reportedly expected to be the team’s No. 1 wide receiver. If Washington plays up to that standard, he will unquestionably be able to raise his asking price. Signing him to a deal right now could save the team money in the long term, but the front office evidently wants to see how he fares early in the year. Although this route could be costly, having a true No. 1 wide receiver affirm his financial value with top-tier play is a good problem to have.

After missing last week due to an undisclosed issue, Washington was back on the field Sunday, participating in drills and working in seven-on-sevens. Whatever he was dealing with doesn’t appear to be anything too serious, which is a good sign for the fourth-year receiver who is looking to build on last year’s breakout campaign.

Washington missed this week due to an undisclosed injury, but it doesn’t sound like this is anything to be too concerned about at this point. The fourth-year receiver is expected to make his return to the field next week and should be in position to be ready for the start of the season. Washington is coming off a breakout year in which he totaled 58 receptions for 847 yards and five touchdowns, and it was reported recently that the Jaguars seem “reluctant” to take him off the field, with some believing Washington has established himself as the WR1 for the Jags. He’s sounding more and more like a reliable WR2/WR3 as we enter prime fantasy draft season.

DiRocco indicates that Washington is staying on the field for both 12 personnel and 11 personnel packages. He and WR Jakobi Meyers have reportedly led the position group in snaps this summer. Although Washington is dealing with an undisclosed injury at the moment, he is expected to return next week. DiRocco said on Tuesday that Washington has “established himself” as the team’s No. 1 wide receiver, which lines up with what we’ve been hearing all spring and summer.

Packers LB Edgerrin Cooper suffered a torn Achilles in Green Bay’s Week 4 win over the Buccaneers.

It’s a brutal blow as the Packers lose one of their best defenders for the rest of the season. The third-year linebacker had an interception and 30 combined tackles in the first four games of the season. Cooper will enter the final year of his rookie contract in 2027 looking to prove he is healthy so he can get a huge contract.

Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said Tank Dell (knee/IR) will have his practice window opened.

Dell has missed the mandatory four games on injured reserve, but may be a week-to-week proposition at this point. None of the Texans secondary receivers have really hit the bar of fantasy interesting — partially because none of them gets full playing time — and we’d be skeptical that Dell would hit that either early in his return. But he could grow into a bigger role as the season plays out.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Chargers LT Rashawn Slater is believed to have suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 4’s loss to the Seahawks.

It’s hard to imagine things getting much worse for the 0-4 Chargers, but losing Slater for any amount of time will be bad news for a line that’s already struggling. Slater will undergo an MRI to confirm the severity of his injury, but he’s likely to miss a handful of weeks while recovering from his latest injury. Logan Taylor is listed behind Slater on the team’s unofficial depth chart and will presumably draw the start in Week 5 against the Broncos.

Caleb Williams will not play in Week 5 against the Packers.

Williams is at least one more week away from returning from the hamstring injury he suffered in Week 2. The Bears will again start Tyson Bagent in Week 5 against the Bears after Bagent looked solid in his first start since 2023. Bagent threw for 268 scoreless yards against the Jets, completing 73.5 percent of his passes while throwing zero touchdowns and one interception. We’ll see if Williams gets any closer to playing when the Bears visit the Falcons in Week 6.

Bears head coach Ben Johnson said Tyson Bagent will start in Week 5 against the Packers.

We assumed this was where things were heading after Bagent turned in a solid outing in his first start against the Jets. Bagent has been the QB2 on the Bears’ depth chart throughout the season and only missed Week 3’s start against the Eagles because he spent most of the week in the league’s concussion protocol. Bagent threw for 268 yards and one interception in Sunday’s win over the Jets and will have some appeal in 2QB/Superflex leagues, especially with the Chiefs and Panthers both on byes in Week 5.

Speaking Monday, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel did not have an update on Mack Hollins’ calf injury.

Vrabel said he’ll have more information on Hollins shortly, but added that Hollins may miss a few days of practice. Hollins exited Week 4’s game against the Bills with a non-contact injury, leaving the field with a 3-53-0 line on four targerts. Hollins has seen 13 targets over the last two weeks while running the third-most routes (45) of any receiver. We’ll likely know more about the severity of his injury soon, but he could be at risk of missing Week 5’s game against the Raiders.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Broncos WR Pat Bryant will miss “a few weeks” after suffering a sprained ankle in Week 4’s loss to the 49ers.

Bryant was carted from the field in the second half of Sunday’s game after taking a big hit over the middle. The 23-year-old receiver currently ranks third among Broncos receivers with 91 routes run and has played 55 percent of his snaps out wide. Troy Franklin or Marvin Mims could be in line to see more snaps while Bryant is sidelined, but it’s hard to imagine either player becoming valuable fantasy assets at this time.

Steelers signed CB Sean Murphy-Bunting to the active roster.

Murphy-Bunting has been on the Buccaneers’ practice squad but will now join the Steelers’ 53-man roster. The 29-year-old corner missed all of last season with a torn ACL but has started 65 of the 82 games he appeared in over his career while notching 11 interceptions. The addition of Murphy-Bunting could provide an upgrade to a defense that recently lost Joey Porter Jr. after trading him to the Cowboys.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Commanders WR Jaylin Lane suffered a fracture and dislocation of his ankle and is likely out for the season.

London will undergo additional testing to confirm, but we’ll go ahead and assume the second-year receiver/return man is done for this season. Lane’s leg got twisted up under his body while he was returning a kick and he had to be carted from the field after the play. Lane has 18 career receptions for 250 scoreless yards but returned two punts for touchdowns as a rookie last season and has returned 12 kicks for 295 yards this season. Luke McCaffrey, who has been a healthy scratch for most of the season, will likely be active going forward given his abilities as a receiver/returner.

Agent Drew Rosenhaus said he “would anticipate Tyreek Hill potentially signing with a team over the next few days.”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Rosenhaus will begin negotiating a deal for Hill with multiple teams. Among these teams is the Chiefs, who lost both Rashee Rice (hamstring) and Tyquan Thornton (ankle) in Week 4’s win over the Raiders. It was reported on Sunday night that the Chiefs have been in contact with Hill about a potential return. Now, it’s safe to say the Chiefs have a real need at the position that Hill could fill should the two reunite. It’s hard to know how soon Hill can contribute on the field, as he’s still working his way back from a brutal knee injury he suffered last season, but he’s posted videos of himself working out to his social media accounts to show he’s close to being ready to go. While other teams could emerge as suitors for Hill, the Chiefs feel like the most obvious landing spot right now.
