Falcons QB Cooper Rush (back) is practicing in full for Week 2 against the Panthers.

Rush told reporters that he and QB Michael Penix (knee) split first-team reps, though the coaching staff already said Penix is not yet ready to take the field on game day. Rush or rookie QB Jack Strand will likely start, with QB Tua Tagovailoa (oblique) ailing.

Rush’s release came after the Falcons signed Andy Dalton. Rush had a rough stretch with the Falcons, throwing for 229-1-4 in his two starts while completing 56.4 percent of his passes. Once regarded as one of the better backup quarterbacks in the league, Rush has struggled mightily in his two seasons away from the Cowboys, going 0-4 in his starts since 2024 while throwing one touchdown to eight interceptions. He could catch on elsewhere as a practice squad option in the coming days, but he seems like a long shot to start another game in 2026.

Rush will serve as the emergency quarterback over Jack Strand. LB Samsom Ebukam, who came into the weekend listed as questionable, will play against the Saints. The Falcons look to move into a tie atop the NFC South against their divisional opponent after beating the Packers in Week 3.
  • ATL Quarterback #13
Rush sits ahead of Strand on the depth chart and has been labeled as this evening’s emergency third quarterback. Hopefully, it doesn’t come to that. Week 3 marks QB Michael Penix’s return to action following last year’s season-ending knee injury.
  • ATL Quarterback #18
With the Falcons set to play on Thursday night, Stefanski will have little time to prepare his starter for the week. It’s hard to imagine the team going back to Cooper Rush after back-to-back disastrous starts to open the season, which could pave the way for rookie UDFA Jack Strand to make the start of Tua Tagovailoa (oblique) and Michael Penix Jr. (knee) still aren’t ready to go. Strand completed 8-of-15 passes for 59 yards and an interception in his first taste of NFL action. Stefanski did say he had a “decent idea” of who he thinks he will be starting this week, so we’ll likely have our answer soon.
  • ATL Quarterback #18
Strand replaced a struggling Cooper Rush in the third quarter of the blowout loss. His first career attempt was a pick-six, but it’s hard to pin much of the blame on him. He made a tight-window throw to Jahan Dotson and Devin Lloyd simply ripped the ball out of the receiver’s hands before he could secure it. Strand wasn’t awfully productive even after throwing out that play, taking two sacks while averaging a pitiful 3.9 yards per attempt. The hope for Falcons fans and fantasy managers alike is that Michael Penix will be ready for Week 3. It’s unclear whether Strand or Rush would start if Penix and Tua Tagovailoa remain out.
  • ATL Quarterback #13
Rush opened the game with a lost fumble on Atlanta’s first offensive play of the day. Things somehow got worse from there. He was intercepted twice and nearly threw a third, but it went through the hands of Panthers linebacker Bobby Okereke. Rush was arguably the worst starter in the league in Week 1 and nothing changed in Week 2. With Michael Penix expected to make his 2026 debut next week, Rush may have just finished his final career start. Jack Strand will close this game out.
  • ATL Quarterback #13
It was reported earlier that Rush was expected to draw the start, but with Michael Penix Jr. (knee) officially ruled out, it will be Rush getting the ball against the Panthers. Rush struggled in last week’s game against the Steelers, throwing for 143 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions on 22 attempts. Drake London shouldn’t be viewed as anything more than a WR2 in fantasy this week with Rush under center, while Kyle Pitts profiles as a boom-or-bust TE1 after putting up zero fantasy points in Week 1. Jack Strand will serve as Rush’s backup.
  • ATL Quarterback #13
Rush is taking all of the first-team reps with the Falcons in Friday’s practice, and according to Rapoport, sources familiar with the situation expect Rush to get the nod on Sunday. With Rush under center, all Falcons pass-catchers receive a substantial downgrade after he struggled to move the ball in Week 1 against the Steelers. Fantasy managers hoping Drake London and Kyle Pitts can be of some value against a Panthers defense that allowed 269 yards and two passing TDs to the Bears last week should approach both players with caution. London is best trusted as more of a WR2, while Pitts, who saw one target on 21 routes last week, shouldn’t be viewed as anything more than a boom-or-bust TE2 in what figures to be a run-heavy game for the Falcons.

Stefanski on Wednesday wouldn’t rule out any of his four quarterbacks of the apocalypse, including rookie QB Jack Strand, who flashed in preseason action against second and third-team defenses. Rush as abysmal in the Falcons’ Week 1 loss to the Steelers. He was 10.5 percent below his expected pass rate, throwing for 143 yards, one touchdown, and two picks. There’s almost no way Strand would be a downgrade for Week 2 if he gets the nod. Michael Penix (knee) will continued to be sidelined and Tua Tagovailoa (oblique) is questionable at best. Strand should be picked up in superflex leagues.

But, Rapoport added, that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll play this week. “Generally, for a throwing position, it’s not usually one week,” Rapoport added. Cooper Rush could be awaiting the Panthers in Week 2, and based on how Rush played in Week 1, that means the Panthers defense could go from allowing 59 points to being a streamable defense in Week 2.

Theo Johnson (neck) is doubtful for Week 7 against the Texans.

Johnson is not fantasy-relevant on his own, but he can help out the Giants’ offense in real life when he is available. Isaiah Likely is the Giants’ clear-cut TE1.

Andrew Thomas (groin) is not on the Giants’ final injury report for Week 7 against the Texans.

Thomas has played through injuries in multiple games this year. Giants RT Jermaine Eluemunor (calf) and backup OT Marcus Mbow (knee) both resumed practicing in a limited capacity on Thursday and are officially questionable to play this week. The Texans’ defense has underperformed this year. Perhaps this is a get-right matchup for them.

The Athletic’s Dan Duggan believes Cam Skattebo “will be back in the mix” in Week 7 against the Texans, likely in “some sort of timeshare with Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary.”

Sigh. Three-player backfields are generally fantasy-unfriendly situations, and this one is no different. Skattebo is a capable dual-threat player who has seemingly been limited by the significant ankle injury he suffered last year. The Giants could get him more involved in the passing game, but Tracy can contribute there as well, muddying that opportunity. Singletary would not be a contributor for many NFL teams, but lucky him, he’s a New York Giant. Skattebo and Tracy are viable FLEX options, though both are likely touchdown-dependent.

Rashod Bateman (shoulder) is not on Baltimore’s final Week 7 injury report.

He practiced in full twice on Thursday and Friday. With Ja’Kobi Lane eating into his targets and the Bengals ever-vulnerable through the air by tight ends, Bateman is probably only a deep-league play in Week 7.

Travis Kelce (ankle) is not on Kansas City’s final Week 7 injury report.

He’ll be a reliable TE1, even in a tough matchup against Seattle’s defense, as the Chiefs simply don’t have many other Trusted Mahomes Targets healthy for this one. It’s essentially just Kelce and Xavier Worthy healthy of Kansas City’s main targets.

Tyjae Spears (knee) is questionable for Tennessee’s Week 7 game against the Browns.

Spears has been active off a questionable line twice since Week 4. We’d imagine he’d get there again after a limited Friday session. The touch upside just isn’t there for him to be more than a deep-league FLEX play at this point.

Baker Mayfield (thumb) is questionable to play in Week 7 against the Panthers.

Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles told reporters earlier today that Mayfield “looks like he’s ready to go” for this week’s game. Mayfield seemingly has solid odds of suiting up this week, but we must wait for an official ruling. Hopefully, that arrives tomorrow. If active, Mayfield will play with a protective plate on the back of his glove to help keep his recently dislocated thumb in place. He is a QB2 for the occasion, if active.
