Bears OT Ozzy Trapilo is inactive for Week 2 against the Vikings.

Trapilo was actually removed from the final injury report, but The Athletic reports he is still not game ready after rupturing his patellar tendon last season. It is unclear when that might be, but Trapilo is at least now trending toward contributing at some point this season. Also inactive for the Bears are QB Case Keenum, DL Jayden Loving, DL Jamree Kromah and OL Jordan McFadden.
Williams’ play has Bears fans believing again
Anthony Herron joins Not So Fast to explain why Caleb Williams’ elite quarterback play has Bears fans believing again and why the Green Bay Packers remain Chicago’s biggest NFC North threat.

Jones is unable to play, and OT Ozzy Trapilo (knee) is not yet ready to return from his 2025 season-ending injury, so OT Theo Benedet gets the start on the left side. As far as backups go, Benedet is solid. He generally fares better as a run blocker than as a pass protector, though.

The Bears will be without their starting left tackle in Week 4 against the Jets. Johnson said second-year OT Ozzy Trapilo (knee) is “getting closer,” but he does not know if he will be able to play this week. Johnson adds that LG Joe Thuney and his backup, OG Jordan McFadden, can play offensive tackle if needed.

This will be Trapilo’s first padded practice since he ruptured his patellar tendon as a rookie last season. The 2025 second-round pick was putting together a solid first season when he suffered the injury. He may not be ready to resume playing on game day yet, but he will serve as a top-tier backup and potentially even challenge for a starting job when he returns. Bears coach Ben Johnson spoke positively about LT Braxton Jones. Bears RT Darnell Wright has been playing through a knee injury.

Wright is good to go against the Vikings’ blitz-happy defense. Bears OT Ozzy Trapilo (knee) was also removed from the injury report, though it is unclear whether he will actually make his 2026 debut. The second-year offensive lineman’s promising rookie season was cut short by a ruptured patellar tendon. He was listed as questionable last week before being ruled out. If active, he would likely serve as a backup, but this is great news overall.

Wright’s return and OT Ozzy Trapilo’s continued limited participation are both great signs. The Bears will need Wright against the Vikings’ aggressive, blitz-based defense on Sunday. Trapilo is working his way back from a season-ending patellar tendon rupture and has reportedly been making great progress.

Trapilo is working his way back from a season-ending patellar tendon rupture. Starting Bears RT Darnell Wright (knee) was unable to practice at all today. These injuries are worth watching with a game against the blitz-heavy Vikings coming up this weekend.

Trapilo went down with a torn patellar tendon against the Packers in the Wild Card round last season. Bears GM Ryan Poles initially said he would be out “deep into next year.” Trapilo has made a remarkable recovery and has a shot to suit up this week. Even if he isn’t quite ready, the Bears should have their starting left tackle back early in the season. Backup quarterback Tyson Bagent (back) is also questionable for Week 1.

Bears OL coach Dan Roushar adds that the team would “rather be a day too late than a day too early” with Trapilo, but it sounds like the young offensive tackle could join his teammates in team drills soon. The team has “confidence he can quickly return to the level he finished last season at.” That would be great news for the offense as a whole. The 2025 second-round pick produced a promising rookie season before rupturing his patellar tendon.

Trapilo even resumed practicing today. This is quite an accomplishment. Trapilo suffered a season-ending patellar tendon rupture in the Bears’ Wild Card Round win over the Packers last year. He was expected to be sidelined “deep into next year,’ per general manager Ryan Poles, but Trapilo’s recovery has apparently gone very well. Trapilo proved himself as a capable pass protector and run blocker. He may need a while to ramp up, but the Bears are currently hosting a competition for the left tackle job. Veteran OT Braxton Jones has been sidelined with an undisclosed injury, but coach Ben Johnson recently said he could resume practicing this week. He got in one limited session last week.

Trapilo suffered a torn patellar tendon against the Packers in the Wild Card round. Theo Benedet will likely be the fill-in to start the season unless the Bears want to restructure some contracts against the cap to add a depth piece they’d prefer to Benedet.

Trent McDuffie (groin) is questionable to play in Week 7 against the Raiders.

McDuffie has not practiced since straining his groin in Week 6’s Thursday practice. Labeling him as questionable to play seems like a formality before a game-day inactive listing, but only the Rams’ staffers know for sure. The Rams ruled out LB Nate Landman (concussion). Practice squad LB Eric Kendricks will be promoted to the active roster for Week 7.

Puka Nacua (calf) is questionable to play in Week 7 against the Raiders.

The fact that Nacua is not practicing today is a bad sign for his Week 7 availability. Ever the injury-related optimist, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported earlier today that Nacua’s injury is “more minor than anything else,” though he quickly balanced the scales by then saying that he would not call Nacua’s quick trip to the imaging room “precautionary, because it’s not nothing.” If active, Nacua should be in fantasy football lineups because his talent and workload are almost unparalleled. That said, he is on the wrong side of questionable, and the Rams obviously do not want his injury to worsen.

Brashard Smith (hamstring) won’t play in Kansas City’s Week 7 game against the Seahawks.

Did you remember he was on the roster? Funny what one little Kenneth Walker signing will do. Smith has one touch and six snaps in five games. Jadyn Ott will get RB3 duties in Week 7.

T.J. Hockenson (concussion) is not on the Vikings’ final injury report and will play in Week 7 against the Colts.

Hockenson suffered a concussion in Week 5 against the Saints and was able to heal up over the Vikings’ Week 6. He demonstrated a solid connection with Kyler Murray in Week 4, posting a 13/119 receiving line against the Dolphins. Hockenson can be treated as a TE1 this week against the Colts.

Rashee Rice (hamstring) will not play in Kansas City’s Week 7 game against the Seahawks.

Rice didn’t practice all week despite Andy Reid’s optimistic spin that he’s a “quick healer.” It’s hard to make much sense of how available he’ll be for Week 8 at this point as Rice hasn’t practiced since before the team’s Week 5 bye. Xavier Worthy will again get a WR3-caliber workload as The Only Game In Town for the Chiefs wideouts.

Justin Jefferson (ankle) is not on the final injury report and will play in Week 7 against the Colts.

Coming off the Vikings’ Week 6 bye, Jefferson got in a limited session on Wednesday before returning to full participation on Thursday. The star wide receiver posted a 6/79/1 receiving line in the Vikings’ Week 5 win over the Saints. He should be treated as an elite WR1 against a Colts pass defense that will be without CB Sauce Gardner (calf).

Bears coach Ben Johnson said Cole Kmet (knee) will miss the rest of the season.

Unfortunately it’s not much of a surprise based on the reporting or the carting. Sam Roush will take over as Chicago’s TE2 and likely have fringe TE2 value. Kmet will be in the final year of his four-year, $50 million extension in 2027. The 28-year-old will be a potential cap casualty with a $15.425 million cap figure and $10 million in savings on release without getting into post-June 1 cap machinations.

Jordan Mason (thumb) is questionable to play in Week 7 against the Colts.

Mason practiced in full all week. He seemingly has good odds of suiting up, but sometimes NFL teams will give players extra time off when they are returning from injured reserve. If Mason plays this weekend, he should be able to handle his normal lead-rushing role. In that case, he can be started as an RB2/FLEX.

Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur said Carson Beck is dealing with back spasms.

Beck left Thursday’s practice with back spasms and was listed as a DNP. Head coach Mike LaFleur said he was not overly concerned with the injury and that he doesn’t believe it will be anything long-term. Beck’s injury shouldn’t change his Week 7 availability, as he has been the emergency QB3 all season.

Lamar Jackson (ankle) said he’s “heading in the right direction” when asked if he’d play in Week 7.

Here’s what happened: Ravens head coach Jesse Minter spoke and said the team is still “working through” whether Jackson would play on Sunday, and then the team took the unusual step of having both Jackson and Tyler Huntley talk to the media. Jackson also said he doesn’t need to be 100% to play and clarified that he had a high-ankle sprain. There’s little doubt in our minds at this point that Jackson is headed for a questionable tag after a limited Friday session. Reading between the lines, the fact that Huntley spoke probably sets us up nicely for a rug pull, but Jackson-reliant fantasy managers will probably be waiting until inactives on Sunday before they know for sure.
