Bears OT Ozzy Trapilo (knee) was limited on Wednesday.

Trapilo is working his way back from a season-ending patellar tendon rupture. Starting Bears RT Darnell Wright (knee) was unable to practice at all today. These injuries are worth watching with a game against the blitz-heavy Vikings coming up this weekend.

Patrick Daugherty and Denny Carter lay out their expectations for Kyler Murray's return to the Vikings offense and what his fantasy outlook is against the Buccaneers' struggling defense.

Trapilo was actually removed from the final injury report, but The Athletic reports he is still not game ready after rupturing his patellar tendon last season. It is unclear when that might be, but Trapilo is at least now trending toward contributing at some point this season. Also inactive for the Bears are QB Case Keenum, DL Jayden Loving, DL Jamree Kromah and OL Jordan McFadden.

Wright is good to go against the Vikings’ blitz-happy defense. Bears OT Ozzy Trapilo (knee) was also removed from the injury report, though it is unclear whether he will actually make his 2026 debut. The second-year offensive lineman’s promising rookie season was cut short by a ruptured patellar tendon. He was listed as questionable last week before being ruled out. If active, he would likely serve as a backup, but this is great news overall.

Wright’s return and OT Ozzy Trapilo’s continued limited participation are both great signs. The Bears will need Wright against the Vikings’ aggressive, blitz-based defense on Sunday. Trapilo is working his way back from a season-ending patellar tendon rupture and has reportedly been making great progress.

Trapilo went down with a torn patellar tendon against the Packers in the Wild Card round last season. Bears GM Ryan Poles initially said he would be out “deep into next year.” Trapilo has made a remarkable recovery and has a shot to suit up this week. Even if he isn’t quite ready, the Bears should have their starting left tackle back early in the season. Backup quarterback Tyson Bagent (back) is also questionable for Week 1.

Bears OL coach Dan Roushar adds that the team would “rather be a day too late than a day too early” with Trapilo, but it sounds like the young offensive tackle could join his teammates in team drills soon. The team has “confidence he can quickly return to the level he finished last season at.” That would be great news for the offense as a whole. The 2025 second-round pick produced a promising rookie season before rupturing his patellar tendon.

Trapilo even resumed practicing today. This is quite an accomplishment. Trapilo suffered a season-ending patellar tendon rupture in the Bears’ Wild Card Round win over the Packers last year. He was expected to be sidelined “deep into next year,’ per general manager Ryan Poles, but Trapilo’s recovery has apparently gone very well. Trapilo proved himself as a capable pass protector and run blocker. He may need a while to ramp up, but the Bears are currently hosting a competition for the left tackle job. Veteran OT Braxton Jones has been sidelined with an undisclosed injury, but coach Ben Johnson recently said he could resume practicing this week. He got in one limited session last week.

Wright has been indispensable for the Bears since being selected No. 10 overall in the 2023 draft and will get the most guaranteed money in an offensive lineman contract In NFL History (which means for the next 10 minutes given how often extensions are being reached in the early days of camp) when he signs. The Bears offense appears to be trending towards being a juggernaut and having their stalwart tackle under contract will only help keep the ball rolling.

Wright was absolutely essential to how the Bears operated last year, to the point where Ben Johnson admitted the team favored plays to their right because they knew he’d be rock solid on the edge. The Bears picked up Wright’s fifth-year option earlier this offseason and have two years of team control on him, so jumping out ahead of an extension and spreading it over these next two years would probably be fiscally prudent for them anyway.

Wright will now be under contract through the 2027 season. The former No. 10 overall pick allowed just three sacks on 436 pass-blocking snaps last season while also allowing a career-low 19 quarterback pressures. Among 68 tackles with at least 500 snaps last season, Wright’s 81.4 PFF blocking grade ranked 14th-highest and earned Second-team All-Pro honors. If he’s able to turn out a strong 2026 campaign, Wright will likely find himself in line for a long-term extension before the start of the 2027 season.

Trapilo suffered a torn patellar tendon against the Packers in the Wild Card round. Theo Benedet will likely be the fill-in to start the season unless the Bears want to restructure some contracts against the cap to add a depth piece they’d prefer to Benedet.

Lions coach Dan Campbell said S Brian Branch (Achilles) “has a chance” to resume practicing sooner than S Kerby Joseph (knee), “but it won’t be this week.”

Campbell spoke in a dejected tone when asked about the Lions’ safety duo returning to practice, particularly when discussing Joseph’s outlook. Campbell said Joseph did not suffer a setback, but stopped short of fully explaining the situation. It sounds like Joseph’s recovery stalled. The training staff was focused on strengthening Joseph’s knee, “but there was a little time there where we weren’t able to do everything we needed to do.” The Lions will not ask Joseph to play until he gets his knee as strong as it can possibly be, “and he feels comfortable.” Branch could return to practice in the coming weeks, but at this point, Joseph’s career status seems like it might be up in the air.

FOX Sports’ Ralph Vacchiano believes the Giants’ “best bet is to commit all their first-team reps” to backup QB Jameis Winston rather than trading for a potential fill-in starter.

Vacchiano explores myriad trade options that the Giants could explore in a lengthy article, but ultimately determines that rolling with Winston, while QB Jaxson Dart (knee) is sidelined, is the team’s best course of action. According to Vacchiano, the Giants viewed Winston “as a solid veteran who was smart and talented enough to get them through a short stretch if Dart went down” when they signed him to a two-year, $13 million contract extension two weeks ago. “Their faith gets shakier when it’s a long-term proposition they were hoping to avoid,” but alas, this appears to be the situation the team is currently facing. If Winston can return to something resembling his 2019 Buccaneers form, when he posted a 5,109/33/30 passing stat line en route to an overall QB3 finish, he could facilitate usable outings for Giants pass catchers. Betting on that exact outcome is unwise, but Winston could be a QB1 streamer in the right situation.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said to “expect” Brock Bowers (knee) to play in Week 3 against the Saints.

Rapoport wrote that “there is a good chance” Bowers returns this week as the caption for his NFL Network segment. He used stronger language in the actual segment, telling viewers to “expect” Bowers to be on the field when the Raiders travel to New Orleans for a date with the Saints this week. The Raiders’ top pass catcher should be treated as an elite TE1 upon his return.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid said RB Emmett Johnson “will continue to get more snaps.”

Johnson has turned 14 touches into 103 scrimmage yards thus far. Evidently pleased with his fifth-round rookie, Reid wants to keep “allowing Emmett to grow,” in turn taking “a little bit of load off” starting RB Kenneth Walker. Reid notes that Walker wants the ball on every play and is not asking for a lighter workload, but Reid is seeking “a nice balance with those two in there,” which “keeps them even more fresh as the season goes on.” Walker, of course, remains an elite RB1. Johnson, however, should be rostered in all 12-team leagues as a high-upside bench stash that could return standalone value before long.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Seahawks QB Sam Darnold (glute) “has a chance” to play in Week 3 against the Commanders.

To be clear, Rapoport’s tone was controlled and cautionary here. Darnold can only be considered questionable, at best. The Seahawks’ quarterback “is healing faster than anyone had imagined,” but Rapoport adds that the team wants to be “cautious” with him. Backup QB Drew Lock should probably be viewed as the presumptive Week 3 starter at this time, but it sounds like Darnold can reasonably be expected to play in Week 4 at the latest.

49ers signed WR Brandin Cooks, formerly of the Bills.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Cooks is signing with the 49ers’ practice squad initially “to get up to speed for games.” Cooks, 32, posted a 24/279/0 receiving line in the regular season last year, before chipping in five catches for 78 yards in two playoff games. He is perhaps unlikely to be fantasy-relevant right away, but there is a real chance he could work his way into the 49ers’ wide receiver rotation, given their influx of injuries at the position.

    Lions released LB Joe Bachie.

Bachie logged 157 defensive snaps and 260 special teams snaps with the Titans last season. He has not played at all defensively for Detroit, but logged 32 special teams snaps. He could return via the practice squad.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur said “it’s way too early” to determine whether WR Jayden Reed (neck) resumes playing this season.

Reports have varied as to whether Reed suffered a neck injury or a back injury. Today, the Packers’ head coach clarified that Reed indeed suffered a neck injury. According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, Reed is back in Green Bay and is going through a series of tests. Reed is not practicing right now, and it sounds like it could be quite a while before that changes. Hopefully, he can resume playing next year at the very latest.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Jets TE Mason Taylor (thumb) is considered week-to-week.

Taylor suffered a thumb injury in Week 2 against the Packers, which will seemingly sideline him for Week 3 and potentially longer. Taylor currently leads Jets tight ends with 78 offensive snaps. Losing for any amount of time elevates rookie TE Kenyon Sadiq to a more prominent role. Sadiq is worth adding in 12-team leagues at this time.

Packers OL Anthony Belton (elbow) was limited in Tuesday’s practice.

Belton is Green Bay’s new starting right tackle, in theory, with Zach Bako-Bewele done for the season. Not ideal for him to be popping up on the injury report on Tuesday ahead of a TNF clash with the Falcons. We’ll see where this goes; midweek additions are always tricky to figure out the day of, but the Packers offensive line continues to be beset with injuries.
