Leo Chanel was carted off in the first half against the Seahawks in Week 3 with a neck injury.

Chanel was able to wave to the crowd as he exited, but obviously this is an injury that has potential long-term ramifications. He’ll likely be unavailable to go in Week 4 against the Colts in London.

Chanel was unable to continue after taking hit on a run play, and while he was being stabilized, he was able to wave to the crowd upon his exit. There should be an update on the severity of the injury before the end of Sunday’s game.
  • WAS Linebacker #54
The veteran linebacker notched 44 starts across 65 appearances for the Chiefs while on his rookie contract, a stretch that also included two Super Bowl wins. Chenal averaged 57 tackles and 1.8 sacks per season those four years and earns a significant raise with his new franchise. It is unclear where he is likeliest to play considering the team already has Frankie Luvu and Bobby Wagner, but the kind of money invested hints at significant playing time.

Chenal (6'3/250) was a two-year starter who earned second-team All-American honors for his 2021 breakout campaign (115 tackles, 18.5 TFLs, eight sacks, and two forced fumbles). During the pre-draft process, Chenal ran a 4.53 40 with a 40.5-inch vertical and 10-foot-8 broad jump en route to a 9.99 relative athletic score. A muscle-bound power ‘backer with a relentless style, Chenal ricochets off block attempts, packs a wallop, and doesn’t miss tackles. He brings north-south thunder but lacks fluidity. You’re best off blitzing him every passing down because he lacks instincts in that phase and has a heck of a time staying within the vicinity of quick-footed opponents. He reminds us of recent first-rounder Jordyn Brooks, another tackling machine who can be an adventure in coverage.

Wisconsin has had a lot of players show out during the school’s pro day, including Chenal (6'2/250). According to Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network, Chenal had 34 reps of 225 there. That would have landed atop all participants at the combine.

  • WAS Linebacker #54
It’s been a crazy showing of athleticism today, with the LBs and DLs going off. Chenal (6'2"/250) is yet another example, and that level of explosion at that size is frightening. Some outlets have Chenal going in the first round based of his great year, totaling 115 tackles (18.5 for loss) and eight sacks in 2021. Combine that with a great showing at the athletic testing and things are looking very good for Chenal.

A name not normally seen in the first round of mock drafts, Renner has Chenal (6'2/250) going to the Patriots. Renner described the selection “Chenal isn’t for everyone’s scheme, but any of Belichick’s disciples will love the skill set he brings to the table. The Wisconsin product has the block-beating ability and football IQ to seamlessly replace Donta’ Hightower.” Chenal’s versatile skillset and high grades in both run defense (1st among linebackers per PFF) and pass coverage (2nd) should translate early and often in Belichick’s scheme.

The catalyst of the Badgers defense is heading to the NFL. Chenal (6'2/255) earned second-team All-American honors for the Badgers this year. He missed the first two games due to COVID-19 and still amassed 115 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, and eight sacks, which ranked second on the team. Chenal can do a little bit of everything but projects best as a three-down linebacker at the next level.

  • WAS Linebacker #54
Chenal (6'2/250) was an absolute man amongst boys, and he single-handedly helped the Badgers turn the tide in this game. He registered a sack and 2.5 tackles for loss, and he forced a fumble on that sack at the Army 1, giving Wisconsin a super short field. QB Graham Mertz took advantage, going for the 1-yard plunge to give Wisconsin a 20-7 lead with 2:43 to go. Chenal has 30 total stops across three games. He’ll try to keep up the good work at Purdue next Saturday.

  • WAS Linebacker #54
Chenal will miss the opener against Penn State and the Week 2 matchup against Central Michigan. “To all my friends and family, I have tested positive for Covid and will miss the next 2 games,” Chenal posted to Instagram. “That aside, I am excited to see the boys kill it today.” Chenal was an All-Big Ten honorable mention performer last year.

  • WAS Linebacker #54
Chenal has missed the last two games with the undisclosed injury. The freshman linebacker has been a playmaker in his limited time with the Badgers, and it sounds like he’s going to be able to go against the tough Ohio State offense on Saturday.

Tyler Warren caught 9-of-10 passes for 55 yards in Indianapolis’ Week 3 win over the Texans.

With Alec Pierce gone, the targets heavily concentrated to Warren and Josh Downs. Warren, still an extension of the run game, just doesn’t look like he’s going to generate much yardage on his catches unless he breaks a tackle. But the PPR points all count the same, and nine catches at tight end is nine catches at tight end. He’ll remain on the TE1 line against the Commanders next week.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught 10-of-14 targets for 128 yards and two touchdowns in the Seahawks’ Week 3 loss to the Commanders.

Goodness gracious. Smith-Njigba did have a drop, but it was yet another dominant effort for the 24-year-old. His first touchdown saw him fake a fade route only to comeback to the pylon for an easy six, and then he and Sam Darnold connected for a second time on a pass over the middle in the end zone. That’s already six touchdowns in three games for the 24-year-old, and he’s reached the century mark in all three contests. Asking for this kind of red-zone production every week is tough, but he’s more than capable of these kind of fireworks. Obviously. JSN will be a WR1 and then some for Week 4 against the Chargers.

Jadarian Price rushed five times for 15 yards with a lost fumble in the Seahawks’ Week 3 loss to the Commanders.

Price gained 11 yards on his first carry, lost four on the next, and then was benched after losing a fumble that resulted in a Washington touchdown a few plays later. He did return in the second half and showed much more burst than Emanuel Wilson an George Holani; although that’s not much of a compliment. He’ll likely see a similar — and frustrating — amount of touches in Week 4 versus the Chargers at home.

Sam Darnold completed 31-of-45 passes for 379 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions.

It was his first action since leaving in the first series of Week 1 against the Patriots with his hip/glute injury. Darnold’s first interception was a doink off a defensive lineman that landed in the hands of Sonny Styles. The second was an egregious offering that resulted in a pick six. Outside of that, the 29-year-old played relatively well, with two touchdown throws to Jaxon Smith-Njigba and another pair to Cooper Kupp and Eric Saubert. He’ll look to limit the turnovers and find JSN more often in Week 4 against the Chargers at home.

Marcus Mariota completed 19-of-31 passes for 183 yards with three touchdowns in the Commanders’ 33-31, Week 3 win over the Seahawks.

Just like we all predicted. Mariota was mostly dinking and dunking — particularly in the first half — but he was able to make plays in the red zone, and found Terry McLaurin for a 30-yard touchdown in the second quarter. There wasn’t much scrambling, but he didn’t have to. He did briefly leave the field with what appeared to be a leg issue, but he was able to return without missing a snap. Mariota will try and back this up against the Colts in Week 4, with that game taking place in London.

Keenan Allen caught 6-of-9 targets for 63 yards and a touchdown in Indianapolis’ Week 3 win over the Texans.

His touchdown was the kind of touchdown Allen has been making for years, creating just enough space in front of a zone linebacker in the red zone for the catch-and-run score. Nine targets will play in a Shane Steichen offense, even if we don’t think there’s a lot left in the Allen reserve tanks at this stage of his career. Allen is on the FLEX radar against the Commanders in Week 4.

Josh Downs caught 5-of-11 targets for 77 yards in Indianapolis’ Week 3 win over the Texans.

This target boost brought to you by Alec Pierce’s heel injury. The Colts didn’t really land any deep targets but they pounded the Texans’ middle-of-field zone coverages and Downs was a main beneficiary. He’ll be in the WR3 ranks next week against the Commanders.

Justin Herbert completed 20-of-34 passes for 226 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Chargers’ 24-16, Week 3 loss to the Bills.

On one hand, Herbert was under constant pressure in this game behind a beat-up offensive line and was able to evade pressure regularly and extend plays. On the other hand, he really wasn’t able to get anything going down the field. His one touchdown “pass” was on a handoff where he essentially let go of the ball and Keaton Mitchell took the “forward pass” into the end zone on a jet sweep. Herbert’s interception was a terrible pass in the end zone when the Chargers were up 13-10 and looking to put the game away. The Bills also dropped two other potential interceptions. Herbert looks pretty firmly like a QB2 here, and it’s hard to get overly excited about playing him next week against the Seahawks.

Jonathan Taylor rushed 23 times for 68 yards in the Colts’ Week 3 win over the Texans, adding two catches for four yards on three targets.

The Texans focused first and foremost on stuffing Taylor, and outside of a stretch in the middle of the second half when Azeez Al-Shaair was pulled off the field for injury, they mostly did just that. Taylor did have a 24-yard scamper pulled off the scoresheet by a holding call. He’ll be back in the RB1 ranks next week against the Commanders.

Jahmyr Gibbs rushed 20 times for 99 yards and two touchdowns in the Lions’ Week 3 win over the Jets, adding seven catches for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Per usual, Gibbs was dynamic with the ball in his hands, making defenders miss at will while racking up 27 touches. He put an exclamation point on the game with an 11-yard touchdown grab that eventually gave Detroit the win. He’s already up to six touchdowns this year and has no fewer than five catches and 113 yards from scrimmage in his three appearances. With the ability to crush on the ground and through the air, Gibbs is an unstoppable fantasy force. He remains the RB1 overall heading into his Week 4 date with the Panthers.
