JK Dobbins had 11 rushes for 40 yards in the Broncos’ Week 4 loss to the 49ers, adding two catches for 12 yards.

Dobbins, as usual, led the Denver backfield in carries but lost out to RJ Harvey on pass routes and targets. In fact, Harvey led the Broncos with ten catches on ten targets in a check-down heavy game plan for Bo Nix and OC Davis Webb. Dobbins has been touchdown-reliant as the Broncos’ lead back, and sensitive to game script, as we saw in Week 4. Dobbins can be used as a flex next week against a vulnerable Chargers run defense.

Dobbins got the Bronocs’ first touch on offense and immediately took a backseat to Jonah Coleman. The rookie tallied 11 carries and five targets. He also became the first Bronocs running back to hit 100 yards from scrimmage in a game this year. Dobbins was not targeted and was not on the field at the goal line, where Coleman was heavily involved. Coleman ultimately punched in a goal line touchdown for the game-winning score after setting himself up with a 51-yard catch. The short-yardage role used to belong to Dobbins, but the rookie appears to have taken that as well. Without any high-value touches to work with, Dobbins is a between-the-20s grinder averaging a little over three yards per carry this season. He is falling back into the RB4 ranks for his Week 9 date with the Panthers.

Whoa, that escalated quickly. Harvey reportedly suffered a knee injury in practice this week that initially caused the Broncos to rule him out for Week 8, with the team then making the procedural move of placing him on injured reserve Saturday. Harvey will now miss the next four games, at minimum, as he rehabs the injury, leaving rookie Jonah Coleman and veteran J.K. Dobbins to handle primary backfield duties with Tyler Badie also on injured reserve. Coleman warrants weekly FLEX status, at minimum.
  • DEN Running Back #12
Harvey was added to the injury report Thursday with a knee injury before being unable to practice Friday, ultimately ruled out for the team’s divisional clash against the Chiefs. Expect Jonah Coleman to serve as the primary rusher in addition to the possibility he sees his pass game involvement tick up in the absences of both Harvey and Tyler Badie, the latter of whom is on injured reserve. The increase in opportunity is enough to vault Coleman into viable FLEX territory for Week 8.
  • DEN Running Back #12
Harvey was added to the injury report Thursday after being limited in practice due to a knee injury, something fantasy managers will want to monitor as the weekend approaches. Either way, Harvey now has two healthy backs to compete with for touches with the return of Jonah Coleman in Week 7, keeping him on the fringes of FLEX consideration entering a difficult matchup against the Chiefs.
  • DEN Running Back #12
Harvey only ran the ball three times for six yards. Jonah Coleman, who was active for the first time since Week 2, ran nine times and also caught a pair of passes. Harvey’s role took a hit, but he made the most of his limited opportunities with a 52-yard screen in the third quarter. Sean Payton’s play-call schemed half of the Cardinals’ defense out of the play and Harvey blew by the other half on his way to the end zone. Despite the spike week for fantasy managers, Harvey’s declining role will have him tumbling down the running back ranks for Week 8. He will be on the RB3/4 border versus Kansas City next week.

Dobbins was the team’s preferred option at the goal line, allowing him to save a bust of a fantasy day with a one-yard score in the second half. He was initially stood up at the goal line but made it in the paint by driving his legs through the contact for six. Dobbins was held under 10 points even with the touchdown. Jonah Coleman returned this week and led the team in carries with nine. Harvey ran the ball just three times. This backfield is a messy, three-man committee and Dobbins doesn’t get to pad the stats with PPR-friendly targets. He will shuffle to the back of the RB3 ranks for his Week 8 date with the Chiefs.
  • DEN Running Back #20
Coleman can return to practice this week and the team now has 21 days to bring him off injured reserve. He could be back on the field as soon as Sunday. With the Broncos’ offense struggling and two backs already seeing work in the backfield, it’s hard to imagine Coleman having much fantasy value in his first game back. He’s worth stashing in deeper leagues, but it might be a while before fantasy managers want him in their lineups.

The fact that the 31 yards through the air led the team in receiving is a comment on the state of an offense that gained only 168 yards of total offense against the defending Super Bowl Champions. Even so, a relentlessly aggressive defense willed the team to victory behind a consistently positive game script, which allowed J.K. Dobbins to handily lead the backfield in opportunities. Harvey remains a matchup-dependent fantasy option best utilized in trailing game environments, which is unlikely to be the case when the Broncos face the struggling Cardinals in Week 7.
  • DEN Running Back #27
Dobbins found little room to run on a night the Broncos gained only 168 yards of total offense but handily led the backfield in opportunities in what was a consistently positive game script due to the dominance of their defense. Dobbins has now failed to eclipse a modest 50 yards on the ground in four of five appearances but might be useful as a bye week fill-in when the Broncos travel to Arizona to face the Cardinals in Week 7.
  • DEN Running Back #12
Harvey was a non-factor in this one, and a week after his big receiving game, he was held without a catch with just one target. The second-year tailback was clearly the backup to JK Dobbins, and was unable to make the most of his limited opportunities. He’s off the radar for Week 6 versus the Seahawks on Thursday.

    Eagles waived CB Jakorian Bennett.

Bennett was acquired by the Eagles in a swap with the Raiders before the start of last season. The 26-year-old played 98 defensive snaps in two seasons for Philly, spending all of the 2026 season on injured reserve with a knee injury. The Eagles now waive Bennett from injured reserve.

The Denver Gazette’s Chris Tomasson said “indications point to Broncos WR Pat Bryant returning to practice this week.”

Bryant has missed the Broncos’ last four games after being placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury. The 23-year-old receiver is eligible to return whenever the Broncos deem him ready to do so, and his practicing this week would mean the team has opened his 21-day return window. Bryant has caught nine passes for 133 yards and one touchdown and was third among Broncos receivers in routes run (91) through the first four weeks of the season. He could make for an interesting stash in deeper leagues, but fantasy managers shouldn’t rush to put him in their lineups whenever he does return.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Brian Thomas Jr. “has been the area of interest for a lot of other teams.”

Thomas is once again the subject of trade talks as next week’s trade deadline rapidly approaches. The 24-year-old receiver, who broke out for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns as a rookie, has earned just 22 targets through seven games this season and has a 10-117-2 line. With so many wide receiver-needy teams out there, it’s hard to imagine the Jaguars holding Thomas, who has become more of an afterthought in the offense, but they’ve resisted trading him over the last year despite multiple teams showing interest.

    Saints released K Daniel Carlson.

Carlson has converted 8-of-12 field goals this season and is 16-for-18 on PATs. The veteran kicker who is known for his big leg has seen all four of his misses come on distances of 50-plus yards, but that was more than enough for the Saints to look in a different direction. Practice squad kicker Charlie Smyth, who converted 12 of his 16 field goal attempts for the Saints last season has a chance to be the next man up when the Saints take on the Browns in Week 9.

Ravens placed K Tyler Loop (groin) on injured reserve.

Loop will be sidelined for at least the next four weeks after suffering a right groin injury in Sunday’s loss to the Bills. The second-year kicker competed for the starting kicker job in camp and has struggled during parts of this season. He has converted on 13 of his 17 field goal attempts this year, with his four misses all coming from inside 50 yards. Veteran Jake Moody is set to take over in Loop’s absence when the Ravens face the Jaguars on Thursday night. Loop will be eligible to return in Week 14 when the Ravens play host to the Buccaneers.

Giants signed CB Greg Newsome to a three-year, $46 million contract extension.

Newsome signed a one-year $8 million contract with the Giants this offseason and is now being rewarded for his strong play during the first half of this season. The 26-year-old corner has allowed just 174 receiving yards on 26 targets this season, per PFF, earning a coverage grade of 66.1. He has been one of the league’s better outside corners this season and will now be under contract with the Giants through the 2029 season.

    Bills released DB C.J. Gardner-Johnson.

Shortly after being reinstated from suspension for a spitting incident in Week 6 against the Raiders, Gardner-Johnson is now in search of a new home. The 28-year-old safety started all six games he appeared in for the Bills this season, earning a PFF defensive grade of 55.2 while allowing 11 receptions for 132 yards and a touchdown on 15 targets. Gardner-Johnson has played for four different teams since 2024 and is now free to sign with anyone willing to take on the 28-year-old vet.

Commanders placed RB Jeremy McNichols (foot) on injured reserve.

McNichols is believed to have suffered a severe foot injury in Sunday night’s win over the Eagles. While he is still seeking additional opinions, it was reported on Monday that he is expected to miss multiple months, which could mean this is a season-ender. McNichols has spent the last three seasons with the Commanders, contributing primarily on special teams while also mixing in for an occasional offensive play.

Colts signed DT Adetomiwa Adebawore to a two-year, $35 million contract extension.

Adebawore, 25, is in the midst of a breakout season for the Colts. After setting career highs in tackles (36), TFLs (5), and sacks (4.0) last season, the fourth-year pro has already tallied four sacks and four TFLs in his first eight games of this season. While the Colts are in the middle of a rebuild, the decision to sign Adebawore to an extension means he’s one of the players they hope to build around in the years ahead. He is now under contract through the 2028 season.
