Ja’Marr Chase (concussion) is questionable for Cincinnati’s Week 5 game against the Dolphins.

He did fully practice today — it feels like this is trending in the right direction, but it’s hard to know without detailed reporting of where he is in the protocol how likely he is to sit. We’re sure there will be many more report on Chase over the next 24-36 hours. He enters the weekend a true question mark.
Defense costs Cowboys again vs. UDFA QB Daniels
Dan Patrick recaps the TNF action that saw the Buccaneers beat the Cowboys in Arlington, where the offense sputtered and shoddy defense cost the home team once again while facing UDFA rookie QB Jalon Daniels.

Chase still needs to clear concussion protocol if he hopes to suit up for Week 5’s game against the Dolphins. That said, he appears to be trending toward being able to play after logging back-to-back practices to close out the week. Tee Higgins (groin/neck), who was a DNP on Wednesday and Thursday was also seen sprinting and running routes on Friday, which suggests he could also be good to go for Sunday’s game. We will check back in with official game day statuses in the coming hours when the team releases its final injury report.

It looks like Chase will practice in some capacity today. He made the long walk to the Bengals’ practice field, fully suited up in pads, carrying his helmet. Given the NFL’s five-phase concussion protocol, we expect to see him listed as a limited participant today, but we will provide an update if he upgrades to full participation. Chase has a chance to play in Week 5 against the Dolphins.

Chase suffered the brain injury in Week 4 and did not return. He entered the league’s concussion protocol after the game. Taylor didn’t give much of an update on where he stands for Week 5, but Chase has several hurdles to clear before he is given the green light. He is likely on the wrong side of questionable to start the week, but it’s too early to say anything definitively. If he can’t go, Tee Higgins, who is dealing with an injury of his own, would take on the lion’s share of the targets in the Cincy offense.

Chase exited Week 4’s game against the Jaguars with a brain injury and didn’t return to the game. He will now need to clear a series of tests in the coming days if he hopes to be cleared in time to play in the Bengals’ Week 5 game against the Dolphins. Chase caught three passes for 27 yards before leaving Sunday’s game against the Jaguars and has caught 21 passes for 212 yards and three touchdowns this season. If he’s unable to play, Dohnte Meyers, who has seen 14 targets over the last two weeks, could be worth a stash in deeper leagues with Tee Higgins (adductor) also considered day-to-day to start the week.

Chase exited in the first half after his facemask was pulled by a Jaguars defender and his head slammed against the ground. He headed to the locker room to be evaluated for the concussion and was promptly ruled out coming out of halftime. Chase’s day ends after catching three targets for 27 yards. Tee Higgins will see a big boost in targets with Chase out while Dohnte Meyers will also see an uptick in usage.

Chase was injured after a second quarter facemask penalty by a Jaguars defender. His neck whipped back as he was taken to the ground and he promptly exited the game. After a brief amount of time in the blue tent, Chase headed to the locker room. The Bengals announced he is being evaluated for a concussion but a locker room visit indicates Chase is on the wrong side of questionable.
  • CIN Wide Receiver #1
Chase’s 12 targets led the Bengals in this one. The star receiver caught all three of his targets on the Bengals’ first drive of the game, with his last target resulting in a three-yard touchdown. Chase would come up with a big 21-yard reception on a fourth-and-two in the third quarter that helped set up Evan McPherson for an eventual field goal and came up with two catches on third downs to extend drives. Chase has now scored in back-to-back games and has a dominant 16-173-3 line on 21 targets over that span. As usual, he’ll be a must-start in Week 4 against the Jaguars in a game that could have plenty of scoring.
  • CIN Wide Receiver #1
His first touchdown was a breathtaking back-shoulder ball that required picture-perfect foot dragging to bring in for a score — it was such a good catch that CBS play-by-play man Kevin Harlan didn’t actually believe it was a touchdown at first. He added a second touchdown out of structure when Joe Burrow drifted to the right of the pocket and lured Reed Blankenship up to create a hole for Chase. Fantasy’s WR1 is back at it again and should (obviously) be started and trusted against the Steelers in Week 3.

Typically if you see 33 points for the Bengals, you are going to assume a big day for the No. 1 wideout, especially vs. an undermanned secondary. It wasn’t meant to be for whatever reason — one reason was short fields set up by Bucs turnovers — with Joe Burrow looking Chase’s way on only four of 35 attempts. Burrow was also more focused on the middle of the field than the boundary. It continues Burrow and Chase’s baffling habit of quiet Week 1 efforts, but there is nothing to read in to it heading into Week 2. Chase will be a locked-and-loaded WR1 vs. an elite Texans defense smarting for a Week 1 collapse vs. Buffalo.
  • CIN Wide Receiver #1
Chase was a full participant in each of the Bengals’ first two practices to start the week and is good to go for Week 1, according to head coach Zac Taylor. Chase can be trusted as a high-end WR1 for fantasy players in a matchup against the Buccaneers that should be ripe for fantasy points.

Broncos signed WR Lil’Jordan Humphrey off their own practice squad.

Every year it somehow comes to this. Humphrey will replace Pat Bryant (IR/ankle) on the 53-man roster. We expect Troy Franklin and Marvin Mims will have more opportunities than Humphrey to actually catch the ball.

Seahawks DT Leonard Williams (ankle)is not on the final injury report and will play in Week 5 against the 49ers.

The Seahawks will have their stud interior defender on hand against the division-rival 49ers. They will be without backup CB Julian Neal (hamstring), who suffered an injury in practice.

Cardinals DT Walter Nolen (calf) is questionable for Arizona’s Week 5 game against the Lions.

Nolen was limited in back-to-back practices after popping up with the calf listing on Thursday. He’s played 319 snaps in 21 career opportunities so far.

Seahawks RB George Holani (ribs/knee) is questionable to play in Week 5 against the 49ers.

Holani was nursing a ribs injury on Wednesday and Thursday, but he is now listed with a knee injury as well. This is concerning. He clearly picked up a new injury during the practice week. Velus Jones is the current RB3. Jones is not viable as a FLEX starter if Holani sits, but Emanuel Wilson should take on an RB2-worthy workload regardless.

Jeremiyah Love (ankle) is not on Arizona’s final Week 5 injury report.

Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur said ""It’s a maintenance thing with ankles, you guys see the way he cuts...I don’t know what he’s totally feeling, only he knows...but he’s doing good.” Great, not cryptic at all, Mike. Love is a reasonable low-end RB2 if his ankles decide he wants to play his full allotment of the 50/50 split against the Lions in Week 5.

Trevor Penning (concussion) won’t play in Los Angeles’ Week 5 game against the Broncos.

We’re assuming the Chargers are going to sign some offensive linemen to the 53-man roster, but as things currently stand it looks like four rookies will start next to Cole Strange. And we don’t even know which four, if you really want to see how deep this despair goes.

Trey Lance (groin) is doubtful for Los Angeles’ Week 5 game against the Broncos.

The rarely-seen doubtful tag. Only the Chargers could discover a way for their backup quarterback to get it. DJ Uiagalelei could backup Justin Herbert this week.

Chargers CB Donte Jackson (hamstring) won’t play in Los Angeles’ Week 5 game against the Broncos.

Assuming Bo Nix is actually willing to throw at his wideouts over the middle this week, Los Angeles’ lack of defensive back depth looks tempting for Nix in a rebound spot.

Chargers TE Charlie Kolar (forearm) is questionable for Los Angeles’ Week 5 game against the Broncos.

Kolar has missed a few weeks with a broken forearm after having surgery on it; he appears close to returning. The Chargers are perhaps wondering, looking at their offensive line, if he can play tackle.

Seahawks ruled out Zach Charbonnet (knee) for Week 5 against the 49ers.

We do not yet know Charbonnet’s Friday participation level, but he remained limited for the first two practices. The Seahawks are smartly bringing him along slowly despite mounting injuries at the position. He should be stashed in 12-team leagues, and could return to a sizable workload when healthy.
