Josh Downs caught 3-of-6 targets for 47 yards in the Colts’ Week 5 loss to the Steelers.

The good news is that Downs ran a route on 44 of the Colts’ 47 dropbacks. He was also targeted down the field a few times. The bad news is that Daniel Jones was not effective and hasn’t been throughout the season. Downs did have another 15-yard completion called back due to a penalty away from the ball, but it wouldn’t have made a huge difference in his day. Downs is still on the WR3 radar because the Colts play the Titans next week, but until Jones can get it going, it’s hard to trust anybody other than Tyler Warren in this passing attack.
Walker remains an RB1 heading into Broncos matchup
Patrick Daugherty and Kyle Dvorchak believe Kenneth Walker III will remain an RB1 as he gears up to face an imposing Denver Broncos defense.

Downs’ four targets were the most on the team, though he caught just two for 18 yards. His lack of red zone usage and deep targets cap his ability to get explosive plays or touchdowns. He led all Colts wideouts with 52 snaps, tallying seven more than second-place Laquon Treadwell. Even with Tyler Warren (groin) out, Downs is losing middle-of-the-field targets to Keenan Allen. Given his low output with both Warren and Alec Pierce out, Downs is a low-ceiling WR4/FLEX play for Week 8 against the Jaguars.

Pierce, dealing with a heel injury since mid-September, will continue rehabbing and remain on injured reserve ahead of the Colts’ Week 7 game against the Vikings. Since Week 3, Keenan Allen leads the Colts with a 24 percent target share, while Josh Downs has 17 percent of the team’s targets and 26 percent of the team’s air yards. Neither wideout is a great option in Week 7 against a marauding Minnesota defense.

It was a rough fantasy day for Downs, who committed two terrible drops and was stopped at the one-inch line on his second quarter end-around. He was also the intended target on one of Daniel Jones’ two interceptions, though the miscue was Downs’ fault after he bobbled a ball up into the air. On top of everything, Downs also tweaked his shoulder. He did at least remain in the game. Just not looking up to the No. 1 receiver task as the Colts await Alec Pierce’s return, Downs is sadly maxing out as a low-ceiling WR3 option in fantasy leagues.
  • IND Wide Receiver #2
Given how Downs’ season is going, it’s hard to believe he’s going to do much with the extra runway, but Tyler Warren (groin) popping up on the report could shift more targets to Downs and Keenan Allen on Sunday against the Titans.
  • IND Wide Receiver #2
The good news is that it looks like Downs is trending towards getting off the injury report on Friday. The bad news is that it’s hard to make much more than a WR3 case for the receiver given how bogged down Indianapolis’ passing offense looks at the moment.

Typically, rest days are entirely inconsequential. Recently, the Colts listed Keenan Allen with a rest designation on Wednesday. He picked up a groin injury during the practice week, and although they added the groin injury to the injury report, they kept the rest designation on there as well. He didn’t play. Downs could end up being perfectly fine, but given the Colts’ recent handling of a similar situation, his participation levels on Thursday and Friday are worth monitoring.

With Alec Pierce and IR and Keenan Allen ruled out, this was supposed to be Downs’ breakout performance. Instead, Downs went missing for most of the game. He caught two passes in the first quarter, another in the second, and did not touch the ball again for the remaining 35 minutes of the contest. Downs finished fourth on the team in targets and was used primarily for check-down duties, though that’s all Daniel Jones was capable of today. Downs should still be treated as the team’s No. 1 receiver for Week 5 versus Pittsburgh, but his stranglehold on the targets is at least in question now.
  • IND Wide Receiver #10
This one went under the radar. Allen was limited on Wednesday with a “rest” designation. He remained limited on Thursday, but the Colts tacked a groin injury next to his name while maintaining the “rest” designation and hope for a Week 4 appearance along the way. Allen was downgraded on Friday, unable to practice, and should be considered truly questionable to face the Commanders this week. Were he to sit, No. 1 wide receiver Josh Downs would get a helpful target share boost.
  • IND Wide Receiver #2
This target boost brought to you by Alec Pierce’s heel injury. The Colts didn’t really land any deep targets but they pounded the Texans’ middle-of-field zone coverages and Downs was a main beneficiary. He’ll be in the WR3 ranks next week against the Commanders.

Pierce will be sidelined for at least four weeks after suffering the injury in Week 2 against Kansas City. Pierce had seen 19 percent of the Colts’ targets and 53 percent of the team’s air yards in Week 1 against the Ravens, resuming his role as a strictly-downfield pass catcher. With Pierce out, Josh Downs should have every chance to operate as the Colts’ No. 1 wideout while Tyler Warren sees a bump in targets. Laquon Treadwell is likely to take over as the team’s lone deep threat. Treadwell can be picked up in 14-team fantasy formats ahead of the Colts’ Week 3 matchup with the Texans.

Raiders designated Jack Bech (forearm) to return from injured reserve.

His 21-day practice window will open this week. Bech could, in theory, start eating into Jalen Nailor and Tre Tucker’s snap counts. The Raiders are probably pretty happy with how Tucker has played, though, and Nailor is more of a fit as an outside receiver than Bech is. The 2025 second-rounder is worth monitoring but not exactly someone you should be stashing ahead of his return.

Eagles activated Landon Dickerson (knee/pectoral) off injured reserve.

Dickerson winds up activated after just two weeks of his 21-day window. The Eagles will insert him back into the starting lineup and hope the early struggles (37.6 PFF grade in 55 snaps) were mostly due to the injury.

Eagles activated Eli Stowers (quad) off injured reserve.

Stowers probably won’t have a fantasy-relevant role right away this week, but with Dallas Goedert an impending free agent and the Eagles struggling, it wouldn’t be stunning if Goedert were traded away to open up snaps at tight end. Stowers has yet to hit redraft league relevance but it could eventually come. The Eagles also activated Grant Calcaterra (back) from injured reserve.

Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak said “Kirk Cousins is our quarterback,” when asked about the possibility of making a change at QB ahead of Week 8.

Rather than let any speculation linger, Kubiak was quick to shut down any idea of a switch at quarterback heading into Week 8’s game against the Jets. Kubiak said, “There is no controversy” at quarterback at this time, while also adding that “Fernando [Mendoza] is going to play football” at some point this season. Kubiak said the team does not have a timeline for when Mendoza could eventually make a start, and said Cousins continues to play well despite the team’s recent struggles. Cousins will be firmly on the streaming radar this week against a Jets team that just allowed 28 points to the Dolphins.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell said Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) “should be good” to play in Week 8 against the Vikings.

St. Brown is dealing with what sounds like a minor ankle injury after Week 7’s win over the Packers. Campbell said he could likely be held out of practice on Wednesday before the team begins ramping him up on Thursday, but tempered any optimism by adding, “We’ll see when we get there.” The 4-2 Lions are playing host to the undefeated Vikings in a game that could end up deciding the winners of the NFC North later in the season. Unless this injury is more serious than Campbell is letting on, we would expect St. Brown to be on the field and operating as a high-end WR1.

Ravens head coach Jesse Minter said Lamar Jackson (ankle) is in a “decent spot” to be ready to play in Week 8 against the Bills.

This comes just over 24 hours after it was reported that Jackson would play in Week 8 against the Bills. Speaking with the media on Monday, Minter played coy with his remarks about his QB1 while adding that the team will know more about his status when they take the practice field on Wednesday. Jackson was reportedly close to suiting up for Week 7 against the Browns, but we heard similar reports three weeks ago when the Ravens faced the Falcons. While Jackson missing another game would be a bit surprising at this point, it’s hard to be surprised by any games he misses at this stage in his career, as they often seem to linger longer than expected.

Titans coach Robert Saleh said Michael Carter was active over rookie Nick Singleton because “Michael has three-down value with regards to protections and being able to understand how to play the game on third down.”

Nick Singleton is “still growing in that regard,” per Saleh. It sounds like Singleton may need to wait for a Tony Pollard trade to open up early-down carries if he’s going to be active this year.

Colts head coach Shane Steichen said Anthony Richardson’s status with the team after being charged with a misdemeanor for marijuana possession has not changed.

This is presumably good news for Richardson, who could be an injury or benching of Daniel Jones away from seeing his first action in 2026. Richardson was cited for marijuana possession earlier this month and said after Week 7’s loss to the Vikings that he doesn’t “really regret a lot of things I do” when asked about it after the game. Steichen said he had conversations with Richardson, which will remain private, but it sounds like his status as the Colts’ QB2 remains intact heading into Week 8.

Jalen Brooks announced he’s done for the season with a wrist injury on his own Instagram.

Brooks had to get an emergency surgery on his wrist, per the post. Tough break for a 2023 seventh-round pick that had just started finding real playing time in the desert. The 26-year-old is in the final year of his rookie contract. His absence should open up more targets for Kendrick Bourne.

Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald declined to say whether or not Zach Charbonnet (knee) would play in Week 8 against the Bears.

Macdonald said the team will continue to stick to their plan regarding Charbonnet’s return. The 25-year-old running back was activated from the PUP list last week, only to be ruled out before the weekend as the Seahawks were preparing to face the Chiefs. It’s worth noting that Charbonnet was a full participant in practice last week, so we would assume he will log another full week of practices this week. Should the Seahawks opt to sideline Charbonnet next week, Emanuel Wilson would again assume the role as lead back.
