Harold Fannin caught 1-of-4 targets for four yards in the Browns’ Week 5 loss to the Jets.

Fannin’s worst game of the season came in rainy New Jersey conditions. That obviously held down the Browns’ passing-game production, but it’s confusing they weren’t drawing up more manufactured, chain-moving looks for their YAC-focused tight end. Fannin established a 2026 ceiling the past two weeks, but today’s effort reminds of just how low his floor can be with Deshaun Watson under center and more target competition in the skill corps.

That was a career high in both catches and yards for the tight end. Fannin was really the only receiver to get anything going on a day when the Browns still threw for 326 yards. Fannin had a really nice catch-and-run in the fourth quarter where he broke two tackles but was unfortunately forced out at the one-yard line, so it could have been a much bigger day. He played 57 of the team’s 67 snaps and ran a route on 41 of their 49 dropbacks. It was an elite role, but the Browns were also trailing for the entire game, which certainly impacted the game plan and game script. With the Saints on tap for next week, we could see something similar, though.

It was the first fantasy-relevant stat line for Fannin in quite some time. Headed into Week 7, he had not exceeded 60 receiving yards and had just two games with more than three catches. Against the Titans, Fannin ran a pass route on nearly every Cleveland drop back and had the most crucial play of the game — a fourth quarter 36-yard catch and run that put the Browns in field goal range to secure the win. Fannin, who has been targeted on a fairly low 17 percent of his routes this season, should be playable next week against the Steelers.

After being held to one catch for four yards in last week’s loss to the Jets in rainy conditions, Fannin was again held to one catch while seeing only three targets. The second-year tight end has been an early disappointment for fantasy managers this season and has a 2-13-0 line on seven targets over the last two weeks. Playing in a lousy offense that saw its quarterback sacked five times certainly doesn’t do anything to help his weekly upside, but nobody ever expected it to look quite this bad. Fannin does have a few good games on his resumé this season, and with four teams on bye in Week 7, he could be in the conversation as a low-end TE1 next week against the Titans.

The score was his third trip to paint in the previous two games after Fannin notched his first two touchdowns of the young season in a Week 3 win over the Panthers. Fannin appears to be behind both Denzel Boston and KC Concepcion in the target pecking order in Cleveland, but remains well ahead of veteran Jerry Jeudy as the third target in the offense. Continued fantasy production likely hinges on the play of quarterback Deshaun Watson, but Fannin appears set to return meaningful fantasy value for managers that invested a middle-round pick on his services this summer. Fannin remains a back-end TE1 ahead of a Week 5 meeting with the Jets on the road.

This comes from Palmer’s pre-Thursday Night Football notes. After sharing the info, he tells readers to “read into that how you want.” Fannin currently leads the team in targets (18), though rookie WRs KC Concepcion (17) and Denzel Boston (15) are right behind him. If Palmer’s report is accurate, Fannin could slip to third in target share as the season progresses, but he remains a very talented player and target earner, deserving of a weekly TE1 ranking. Just file this away for now.

With the Panthers working overtime to keep Deshaun Watson underneath and the washed quarterback happily obliging, Fannin doubled his season receptions total while scoring his first two touchdowns. Score No. 1 was a fourth down crosser where Fannin got free at the back end of the end zone. No. 2 was a scramble drill where the quarterback bought time and again found Fannin in the painted area. Although the yardage total remained modest, it was nice to see Fannin prove pop-up efforts will still be possible for him in this underpowered offense. With Watson seemingly growing more short-area focused by the day, Fannin’s target counts might start ticking back upward. He’s a credible TE1 for Week 4 against the Steelers.

Fannin showed signs of life as Deshaun Watson played much better than he did in the season opener against the Jaguars. Running a pass route on 28 of the Browns’ 36 drop backs, Fannin was tied for second in targets among Cleveland pass catchers. Watson’s check-down tendencies — he had a 3.6 aDOT against Tampa — could keep Fannin alive for PPR purposes in Week 3 against the Panthers. He likely won’t be a top-12 option though.

Fannin only saw three targets on the day, catching his first pass towards the end of the third quarter. It was a bafflingly low level of usage for the 22-year-old tight end, who was heavily involved last year. Some of it may have to do with Deshaun Watson helming the offense; the Browns struggled to move the ball for much of the day. Fannin is still the primary receiving tight end, but he will have to fight KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston for what little high-leverage targets this offense can muster. We cannot discount his TE1-level rookie season just yet, Fannin is a low-end TE1 for Week 2 against the Buccaneers.

Fannin told reporters that he underwent offseason surgery that was related to the groin injury he suffered at the end of his rookie season. It took him “six to 10 weeks” to get fully cleared, causing him to miss the offseason program. As a full participant to start camp, Fannin should not be bothered by the groin issue in his second season. Coming off a 100-target rookie season, he sits in the middle of the TE1 ranks in early drafts.
  • CLE Wide Receiver
Per Jackson, organized team activities and mandatory minicamp “offered clues” about Monken’s use of motion and how he plans to “hunt mismatches in the quick passing game and use misdirection to create space and passing lanes for the quarterback.” That said, Jackson also believes that either TE Harold Fannin or fellow rookie WR Denzel Boston will be the “leading receiver.” It remains to be seen whether Monken will actually dial up a high target volume for an X-receiver like Boston. He featured WR Zay Flowers, who Concepcion has been likened to, as the top target-earning wide receiver with the Ravens. If Concepcion only gets a few designed looks per game, it will be tough for him to produce reliably in fantasy. If he can be more than that, even while earning targets behind Fannin while Boston stretches the field, Concepcion can return FLEX value in his first season.

    Saints released K Daniel Carlson.

Carlson has converted 8-of-12 field goals this season and is 16-for-18 on PATs. The veteran kicker who is known for his big leg has seen all four of his misses come on distances of 50-plus yards, but that was more than enough for the Saints to look in a different direction. Practice squad kicker Charlie Smyth, who converted 12 of his 16 field goal attempts for the Saints last season has a chance to be the next man up when the Saints take on the Browns in Week 9.

Ravens placed K Tyler Loop (groin) on injured reserve.

Loop will be sidelined for at least the next four weeks after suffering a right groin injury in Sunday’s loss to the Bills. The second-year kicker competed for the starting kicker job in camp and has struggled during parts of this season. He has converted on 13 of his 17 field goal attempts this year, with his four misses all coming from inside 50 yards. Veteran Jake Moody is set to take over in Loop’s absence when the Ravens face the Jaguars on Thursday night. Loop will be eligible to return in Week 14 when the Ravens play host to the Buccaneers.

Giants signed CB Greg Newsome to a three-year, $46 million contract extension.

Newsome signed a one-year $8 million contract with the Giants this offseason and is now being rewarded for his strong play during the first half of this season. The 26-year-old corner has allowed just 174 receiving yards on 26 targets this season, per PFF, earning a coverage grade of 66.1. He has been one of the league’s better outside corners this season and will now be under contract with the Giants through the 2029 season.

    Bills released DB C.J. Gardner-Johnson.

Shortly after being reinstated from suspension for a spitting incident in Week 6 against the Raiders, Gardner-Johnson is now in search of a new home. The 28-year-old safety started all six games he appeared in for the Bills this season, earning a PFF defensive grade of 55.2 while allowing 11 receptions for 132 yards and a touchdown on 15 targets. Gardner-Johnson has played for four different teams since 2024 and is now free to sign with anyone willing to take on the 28-year-old vet.

Commanders placed DT Javon Kinlaw (knee) on injured reserve.

Kinlaw was ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Eagles and will now miss at least the next four games after landing on IR. Kinlaw has tallied 13 tackles and one sack for the Commanders this season and will be eligible to return in Week 13 when the Commanders take on the Titans.

Commanders placed RB Jeremy McNichols (foot) on injured reserve.

McNichols is believed to have suffered a severe foot injury in Sunday night’s win over the Eagles. While he is still seeking additional opinions, it was reported on Monday that he is expected to miss multiple months, which could mean this is a season-ender. McNichols has spent the last three seasons with the Commanders, contributing primarily on special teams while also mixing in for an occasional offensive play.

Colts signed DT Adetomiwa Adebawore to a two-year, $35 million contract extension.

Adebawore, 25, is in the midst of a breakout season for the Colts. After setting career highs in tackles (36), TFLs (5), and sacks (4.0) last season, the fourth-year pro has already tallied four sacks and four TFLs in his first eight games of this season. While the Colts are in the middle of a rebuild, the decision to sign Adebawore to an extension means he’s one of the players they hope to build around in the years ahead. He is now under contract through the 2028 season.

Ravens head coach Jesse Minter said Tyler Huntley (toe) could be placed on injured reserve.

The decision on whether or not to place Huntley on injured reserve could come in the next few days as the Ravens prepare to play the Jaguars on Thursday. With Lamar Jackson (thumb) expected to be placed on IR and possibly be out for the rest of the season, Huntley landing on IR would mean the Ravens would be starting their third-string QB (or worse) for at least the next four weeks. Rookie UDFA Joe Fagnano has already been named as the starter for Thursday’s game against the Jaguars, but was seen sporting an ankle brace in Tuesday’s practice. While he’s expected to play through it, the Ravens could be forced to play either Austin Reed or Kedon Slovis, who signed with the team earlier this week.

Ravens head coach Jesse Minter confirmed Joe Fagnano will start in Week 9 against the Jaguars.

The 25-year-old rookie UDFA will make the starting lineup on Thursday night against the Jaguars’ top-flight defense under the lights. Fagnano predictably struggled in the two-and-a-half quarters he played against the Bills last week, throwing for just 91 yards on 10-of-21 passes while also throwing a pick and taking three sacks. While it’s possible a short week of prep as the team’s QB1 could yield marginally better results, this projects to be a tough matchup for Fagnano and the rest of the Ravens’ offensive players. Fagnano will not be on the fantasy radar this week, and Derrick Henry and Zay Flowers will both be docked a few spots in fantasy rankings due to the downgrade at QB.

Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said “I was told the Dallas Cowboys aren’t trading George Pickens.”

Rapoport added that “as of right now, there’s nothing there,” as far as a potential trade is concerned. Pickens, who is playing out the season on the franchise tag, hasn’t produced at the level he did in 2025 when he broke out for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns, but he remains a focal point in the offense despite his underwhelming production. Pickens still ranks 14th in the league among all receivers in targets and is 12th in total air yards. Despite the Cowboys’ disappointing 3-5 record, they remain in the race to win what has been an underwhelming NFC East. With team owner Jerry Jones saying earlier that Pickens needs to be targeted more, it’s safe to assume he will remain with the Cowboys for the season.
