Caleb Williams (hamstring) practiced in full Wednesday.

Technically, Williams was estimated as a full participant ahead of the Bears’ Week 6 game against the Falcons. We’ll see if Williams, who has missed the past three games, practices in full on Thursday. Either way he’s likely to be under center against the pass-funnel Atlanta defense in Week 6. He should be in all lineups if he’s active.

Williams marched the Bears down the field for a 17-play opening possession touchdown, snapping a 26-game streak in which the Seahawks kept opponents out of the end zone on first possessions in the process. The two teams traded defensive stops for much of the remainder of the first half before the Bears opened the flood gates after the break, vaulting to a 6-2 record and now just half a game behind the Vikings for the lead in the NFC North. Williams’ ball placement was impeccable in this one, the most notable of which came just after the half on three absolute dimes to Rome Odunze for chunk gains. Two surging teams meet in Week 9 when the Bears host the pass-funnel Buccaneers on Sunday Night Football, where Williams will remain a back end QB1.

The enigmatic signal caller also took three sacks, the last of which almost placed the Bears in position to hand the keys to victory to the Patriots. Ben Johnson called a pass play on third-and-five with under two minutes to play in Patriots territory, placing another nod of support toward his franchise quarterback. Things turned dire when Williams took a sack that appeared to take the Bears out of field goal range in a six-point game, with veteran kicker Cairo Santos hitting a career-long 58-yard field goal to dispel the worries. That sequence of two plays displayed Johnson’s unrelenting trust in his players considering the 58-yard field goal was not only the longest of Santos’ 12-year career, but the third longest field goal in Soldier Field history. Either way, Williams and the Bears escaped with the victory and move to 5-2, now 1.5-games behind the Vikings for the division lead in the most competitive division in football. The Bears get a mini-bye ahead of a Week 8 meeting with the Seahawks on Monday Night Football, where Williams will remain a back-end QB1 in fantasy.

Williams was all the way back in this one, returning to action after three weeks on the sideline recovering from a hamstring injury. His only real miss of the day came on a ten yard throw to Colston Loveland that should have been an easy touchdown. Williams tormented the pass-funnel Atlanta defense with middle-of-the-field throws, along with typical out-of-structure passes to the sideline. It was an impressive outing against a Falcons defense giving up the league’s fifth lowest drop back success rate. Williams should remain in lineups in Week 7 against the Patriots.

Williams will make his return to the starting lineup after being sidelined for a few weeks with a hamstring injury while the Bears declared RB Kyle Monangai, CB Tyrique Stevenson, LB T.J. Edwards, LB Keyshaun Elliott, OL Jordan McFadden, DL Jayden Loving, and QB Case Keenum inactive against Atlanta. Monongai’s absence should translate into another big workload for D’Andre Swift, facing a tough Falcons rush defense. Meanwhile, Tyson Bagent will serve as Williams’ backup.

This was expected to be the case but is now confirmed by sources close to the team. Williams returns after missing the previous three games as the Bears look to claw their way back into contention in a crowded NFC North division. Consider it a sizable boost for all Chicago pass catchers.

Normally, social media posts don’t count for much. However, earlier today, Bears coach Ben Johnson said that the Bears should have more clarity on Williams’ status by the end of the day, after the medical team put Williams through “the final stress tests” in his return-to-play program. We are inferring that Williams’ social media post suggests he passed the final medical testing, though we have not officially received word that this is indeed the case. For now, we tentatively expect Williams to play on Sunday. He can be treated as a mid-to-low QB1.

The Bears are smartly taking a conservative approach with their franchise quarterback. Williams had a limited practice session last week and practiced fully this week. Bears coach Ben Johnson told reporters that the team should have more clarity by the end of the day on whether Williams has passed his return-to-play plan’s final stress tests. Stay tuned.

The Bears’ QB1 is seemingly on track to make his return this week, when his team takes on the Falcons. When speaking to reporters after practice, though, Williams said he does not know if he is going to play yet, adding that he still has a number of tests and protocols to go through before he’s cleared. If active, Williams could end up running a little less frequently than he did early in the year, perhaps playing cautiously in his first game back. Regardless, Williams is a low-end QB1 if he is indeed active.

Head coach Ben Johnson said on Sunday that Williams would be “close” to suiting up for Week 6, and he reportedly had a good workout before Week 5’s game against the Packers. Williams has missed the last three games with the hamstring injury he suffered in Week 2, but the Bears have managed to go 2-1 over that span. Williams logged one limited practice last week, after being a DNP on Wednesday and Thursday. If he can get on the practice field multiple days this week, it would be a good sign for his availability for next week’s game against the Falcons.

Why the Bears went through the dog and pony show of labeling Williams as “questionable” when everybody knew he would not be playing, nobody knows. Either way, Williams appears to have a strong chance of returning for Week 6 against the Falcons. Expect another run-heavy game plan, even without Monangai, in what should be the final game of the Tyson Bagent experience for the time being.

Michael Penix completed 20-of-31 passes for 162 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Falcons’ 34-17, Week 9 loss to the Bengals.

Penix has now gone back-to-back weeks without eclipsing 200 yards. He found Charlie Woerner for a one-yard touchdown in the first quarter, but couldn’t get much going for the rest of the game. Wide receiver Drake London dominated in a small sample with Penix healthy last year, but he’s had just two games with at least 100 yards and only one touchdown this season. Penix is a low-end QB2 heading into Week 10’s home matchup against the Chiefs.

Samaje Perine rushed 11 times for 43 yards in the Bengals’ Week 9 win over the Falcons.

Perine had 43 yards on 11 carries, which was notable because he had two more rushing attempts than starter Chase Brown. While Brown continues to underwhelm, Perine is cutting into Brown’s ceiling (or lack thereof) more than he’s carving out a legitimate role for himself. Perine is one of the better handcuffs to stash, but he shouldn’t be in starting lineups in Week 10 against the Steelers.

Chase Brown rushed nine times for 57 yards in the Bengals’ Week 9 win over the Falcons, adding three receptions for 18 yards.

While Brown struggled in Week 8, the silver lining was that he out-touched Samaje Perine 20-to-5. After fumbling against the Titans last week, Perine actually had more carries than Brown (11-to-9) in Madrid. Brown saw all three targets that went to running backs against the Falcons, but there’s no way to spin this positively for the 26-year-old who had a preseason ADP in the teens. Brown still hasn’t scored since Week 1 and he’ll be an RB2 at best against the Steelers in Week 10.

Tee Higgins caught 5-of-6 targets for 32 yards and two touchdowns in the Bengals’ Week 9 victory over the Falcons.

Higgins had recorded at least 148 receiving yards in three of his last four games. His 32 yards were a far cry from those gaudy totals, but he was able to save the day from a fantasy perspective by catching a four-yard touchdown and an eight-yard touchdown. Higgins still has 758 receiving yards on the season to Ja’Marr Chase’s 647, so he has that going for him. Higgins is technically the WR2 on the Bengals, but he’s a top-10 WR in fantasy heading into a matchup with the Steelers in Week 10.

Ja’Marr Chase caught 10-of-12 targets for 155 yards and a touchdown in the Bengals’ Week 9 win over the Falcons.

Chase hadn’t had a game with 100 yards receiving until two weeks ago. Since then, he’s had at least 10 receptions, at least 141 yards and a touchdown in back-to-back games. Ho-hum. Chase absolutely toasted Falcons cornerback AJ Terrell for a 47-yard touchdown in the first quarter on a play that looked eerily similar to a touchdown he had against Terrell when the two were in college. Chase is up to 647 yards and seven touchdowns on the season. He’s a WR1 heading into Week 10’s matchup against the Steelers.

Joe Burrow completed 24-of-29 passes for 271 yards and three touchdowns in the Bengals’ 34-17 Week 9 win over the Falcons, adding three carries for seven yards and a touchdown.

Burrow’s excellent run of play continued against the Falcons defense in Madrid in Week 9. The 29-year-old signal caller has amassed 16 passing touchdowns in the last four weeks and added two more touchdowns on the ground. Burrow’s production is unsurprisingly coming from playing through his top wide receivers as Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins combined for 187 yards receiving and all three receiving touchdowns against Atlanta. Burrow is likely to find himself on the shortlist for the MVP award the way things are going. He’s a locked in QB1 heading into a Week 10 matchup with the Steelers on Sunday Night Football, which airs on NBC and Peacock.

Colby Parkinson (ribs) is active for the Rams’ Week 9 game against the Commanders.

Parkinson managed to draw a questionable tag entering the weekend after logging a limited practice on Friday. Despite being a DNP for two of the Rams’ three practices this week, he should be available to play his normal role in the Rams’ TE-heavy scheme. Parkinson has caught 14 passes for 103 yards and one touchdown this season and will not be on the fantasy radar this week. The Rams declared QB Ty Simpson, LS Joe Cardona, LB Darryl Peterson III, OL Bill Murray, OL Keagan Trost, and LB Desjuan Johnson inactive for Week 9.

Jordyn Tyson (hamstring) is active for Week 9 against the Browns.

Tyson will make his NFL debut after missing the first two months of the year with a hamstring injury. We’re expecting a snap count for him this week, making him an extremely risky FLEX play. Inactive for the Saints are QB Zach Wilson, S Mike Reid, RB C.J. Donaldson, DT Christen Miller, LB Jaylan Ford, OL Mason Murphy, and DL John Ridgeway III.

Chiefs declared CB Mansoor Delane, QB Garrett Nussmeier, FB Ben VanSumeren, DE Jack Pyburn, OT Diego Pounds, and DT Peter Woods inactive for Week 9 against the Jets.

The Kansas City defense will be without Delane against a Geno Smith-led Jets passing attack that showed out last week against the Raiders. The Chiefs this season are allowing the NFL’s 13th lowest EPA per drop back and rank 15th in drop back success rate allowed.

Trent McDuffie (back) is inactive for the Rams’ Week 9 game against the Commanders.

McDuffie was a DNP in practice all week but still managed to get a questionable designation entering the weekend. That said, the team’s decision doesn’t come as much of a surprise given the fact that he was unable to get on the field last week. Fortunately for the Rams, they faced a depleted Commanders receiving corps, and they will have both Myles Garrett and Aaron Donald on the field for the first time together.
