Jaylen Waddle (shoulder) is questionable to return to Week 6 against the Seahawks.

Waddle departed early in the third quarter and was quickly deemed questionable to return with a shoulder injury. It is unclear when the injury occurred. Waddle managed to catch just 2-of-5 targets for 15 yards prior to departing, keeping his usable weeks total at just two games through the first six weeks of the 2026 season. Fantasy managers that invested a fourth-round pick on the veteran wide receiver have got to begin to make alternate plans at wide receiver moving forward.

Waddle departed in the third quarter and was deemed questionable to return with a shoulder injury but made his way back to the field in the fourth quarter, catching two additional passes in the final frame. He ended with four receptions for 24 yards on seven targets and has quickly become a difficult weekly start in fantasy circles. An enticing matchup against the Cardinals in Week 7 is sure to give fantasy managers a hint of potential, but if he fails again to return a usable fantasy week, it might be time to reconsider entering him in weekly lineups.

Give some credit to the Chargers’ defense, but this was an ugly game for both passing attacks. Waddle has his second dud in three weeks, and doesn’t appear to have great chemistry with Bo Nix thus far. No one really does, to be fair, as no receiver caught more than four passes for Denver. Waddle is a volatile WR2, and that volatility becomes more, well, volatile for Week 6 against the Seahawks.

Waddle was invisible for much of the game until a late red zone touchdown with the Broncos in up-tempo catch-up mode. It was his first touchdown reception as a Bronco. Waddle, who now has three down games in his first four contests as the Broncos’ nominal WR1, will probably struggle until Denver OC Davis Webb figures out how to maximize his personnel, including the struggling Bo Nix. Against the 49ers Waddle was targeted on a meager 16 percent of his routes. Hopefully that rate will rise in Week 5 against the Chargers.

Waddle gave folks a fright, sporting a walking boot after the Broncos’ Week 3 win over the Rams. He practiced in full all week, though, so there are no concerns about his availability. Waddle is a WR2 against the 49ers in what should be a fantasy-friendly game environment.

Waddle was spotted in a boot after Week 3’s win over the Rams. DNVR’s Zac Stevens reported at the time that he was fine and can comfortably take a victory lap now that Payton has said he practiced in full. Waddle posted a dud in Week 3 with two catches for 10 yards, but he ripped off 138 yards the week before that. The production might come in peaks and valleys, but fantasy managers should hold the line and treat him like a WR2 for a potential shootout with the 49ers this week.

Waddle was spotted in a walking boot after the Broncos’ Sunday night win, prompting speculation over his status. Jane reports that Waddle is “fine” while beat reporter Zac Stevens said a source told him “there’s nothing wrong” with the 27-year-old wideout. The boot certainly could have been a precautionary measure but we will wait for Wednesday’s practice report to find out if Waddle is truly dealing with an injury.

Waddle would also add a successful two-point reception in the third quarter to give him a slight boost in counting stats, although the 6.4-point effort left fantasy managers in desperate need of better production from their fourth-round selection in fantasy drafts. Waddle has now sandwiched poor fantasy outings with one usable game through three weeks. Fantasy managers are likely left to ride out the struggles of the Denver offense in hopes of greener pastures, which could come in a Week 4 showdown with the 49ers. Treat Waddle as an upside WR3, at present.

Waddle was targeted on an obscene 42 percent of his pass routes against the Jaguars. He came up a yard short of a long touchdown in the first half and easily led all Denver pass catchers with ten looks from Bo Nix. Broncos OC Davis Webb’s insistence on force feeding Waddle makes the wideout too big to fail in the balanced Denver offense. Despite a letdown of a Week 1 performance against KC, Waddle should be locked into lineups until further notice. He’ll be a top-20 player in Week 3 against the Rams.

Payton was asked if their offseason acquisition, Waddle, was going to be more involved this week than he was in Week 1. Per Payton, they intended to get Waddle more involved, but acknowledged that the team needs to be “more deliberate” about getting him involved, “without forcing it.” The last-second qualifier is a tad unsettling, but we do expect the Broncos to at least look Waddle’s way early, in order to assuage usage concerns. He is a WR2 against the Jaguars this week.

Nix during his postgame presser defended offensive play caller Davis Webb, who took over for head coach Sean Payton this offseason. “The players did not make it easy on [Webb] today,” said Nix, who completed 17-of-28 passes for 131 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in Monday night’s loss to Kansas City. “Pretty pitiful, actually.” Denver had the league’s second lowest drop back EPA of Week 1; only the Falcons were worse. Nix, meanwhile, ranked 28th out of 32 qualifying QBs in Week 1 accuracy. “We called exactly what we prepared for and what we wanted to get to and we just didn’t execute,” Nix said. “Then we were behind.” Webb and the Broncos will look to bounce back in Week 2 against a tough Jaguars defense.

Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said Jordyn Tyson (hamstring) won’t practice this week.

Loomis said Tyson is “improving” in his long rehab from a major preseason hamstring injury. Tyson, who traveled with the Saints to France for their Week 7 game against the Steelers, could still be a couple weeks away as the team takes a cautious approach to his recovery. In the meantime, Bryce Lance will operate as the Saints’ No. 2 wideout behind Chris Olave. Lance over the past two weeks has a 13 percent target share and a 20 percent air yards share in the pass-first New Orleans offense.

NFL suspended Sam Franklin for one game.

Franklin, who was seen spitting on a Raiders player late in the fourth quarter of the Bills’ Week 6 win, will not receive pay during his one-game suspension. Franklin will be able to appeal the NFL’s decision in the coming days. The Bills on are bye in Week 7.

The Athletic’s Noah Furtado reports the Chargers will try to “simplify” the team’s offense in the coming weeks.

Justin Herbert and the flailing Chargers skill position players have appeared almost comically confused about all the pre-snap motion OC Mike McDaniel uses. That came through in the team’s embarrassing Week 6 loss to the Chiefs when players were bumping into each other during pre-snap motion calls from Herbert. Head coach Jim Harbaugh acknowledged the team is considering narrowing the offensive playbook during their bye week. “Definitely looking at volume and where you can make it to where the players can understand,” Harbaugh said when asked about how Chargers players were adjusting to McDaniel’s complex offense. The Chargers have used pre-snap motion on 74 percent of their snaps, the fourth highest rate in the NFL. Last year they used motion on 56 percent of their snaps. Hopefully these adjustments lead to some production for the NFL’s worst offense.

Colts signed P Thomas Morstead to the practice squad.

Morstead spent 12 years punting for the Saints before making stops with the Jets, Falcons, Dolphins, and 49ers over the last five seasons. The 40-year-old veteran averaged 43.6 yards per punt for San Francisco last year. Current Colts punter Rigoberto Sanchez was injured during a blocked punt in the Colts’ Week 6 loss to the Titans. Morstead joins the Colts’ practice squad as insurance in case Sanchez cannot play Week 7 against the Vikings.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Terrance Ferguson (ankle) “will take some time” to come off injured reserve.

Ferguson is eligible to come off injured reserve next week, but Schefter reports that a source told him Ferguson’s recovery “will take some time.” The Rams placed Davante Adams on injured reserve this week and are in desperate need of pass-catching help behind Puka Nacua. Ferguson is a rising receiving tight end for the Rams, but has been on injured reserve since suffering an ankle injury in Week 3. Though he is a good IR stash for fantasy purposes, Ferguson is going to take longer than the minimum four weeks to return. Without a good timeline for return, he can be released from fantasy rosters in dire need of more immediate help during bye weeks.

Patriots CB Carlton Davis (neck) was limited in Tuesday’s practice.

It was an upgrade from an estimated Monday DNP. Davis has missed Week 2, Week 3, Week 5 and Week 6 to the neck listing so far. Perhaps he’ll try to give it a go on Thursday night, but we’d be surprised if he did better than a questionable tag on Wednesday.

TreVeyon Henderson (ankle) practiced in full on Tuesday.

It’s been a stunningly quick recovery from what looked to be a high-ankle sprain that could sideline him. Henderson has practiced in full both days this week. We’re not concerned that he won’t play, but after fumble problems struck last week and Corey Kiner closed out the Jets in the fourth quarter, we do have slightly lowered expectations for his Thursday night stat line.

A.J. Brown (ankle) was limited in Tuesday’s practice.

Brown spoke with the media today and there’s no reason to believe he’ll actually miss this game, but he was regarded as “limited” in both sessions this week and it’s fair to wonder if he’s 100 percent just yet after his drop-filled, rough Week 6. He’s best-treated as a WR2 this week — you’re still probably starting him regardless of what the ranking is.

Patriots coach Mike Vrabel said Alijah Vera-Tucker (hamstring) and Ben Brown (knee) are unlikely to play on Thursday night.

Matt Pryor and Walter Rouse stepped in for the two guards towards the end of last week’s offensive line apocalypse and would likely be in line to start in Week 7. Neither Vera-Tucker nor Brown practiced on Monday or Tuesday.

Jonah Jackson (hip/quad) was limited in Tuesday’s practice.

Jackson left Sunday’s game with the injury, playing 64.9 percent of the snaps with Luke Newman spelling him. This is a good sign for his availability for Week 7 after Jackson did not practice on Monday, but he’s likely trending towards a questionable tag without a full listing on Wednesday.
