Rico Dowdle (knee) is questionable for Week 7 against the Saints.

Dowdle was listed as limited throughout the week and will officially be questionable entering this week’s game with the Saints. This is a new injury he is dealing with but it doesn’t sound like he’s at serious risk of missing the game at this time. Dowdle played on just 17 percent of snaps in his return to action last week and saw 11 opportunities. He’ll profile as a low-end RB3 this week if active.
Lions over Vikings is a 'no brainer' bet
Vaughn Dalzell and Drew Dinsick scrutinize the Detroit Lions over Minnesota Vikings matchup this weekend, and because of the Lions' strong offense, they are the 'no brainer' pick over the Vikings.

Dowdle was the clear backup to Jaylen Warren, but he was able to have a solid day thanks in large part to checkdowns from Aaron Rodgers. The 28-year-old had a long rush of 16 yards, and the toe injury that sidelined him earlier in the campaign doesn’t appear to be bothering him. Dowdle is a FLEX option for Week 8 against the Browns, at best.
  • PIT Running Back #13
The knee issue was new for Dowdle and limited him to three partial practices this week. He was listed as questionable for Week 7 on Friday. Dowdle will once again form the 1B portion of Pittsburgh’s backfield committee. He’s a low-end RB3 versus the Saints.
  • PIT Running Back #13
It’s a new injury that popped up on Wednesday, but with two limited sessions we’re not overly concerned about Dowdle missing Sunday morning’s Civil Unrest Bowl in Paris. He’ll be in the RB3/FLEX discussion.
  • PIT Running Back #13
The Steelers will likely limit Dowdle’s reps for a few weeks as he manages the toe injury that cost him three games. He should be good to go for Sunday’s game by Friday. Dowdle saw 10 touches in his first game back and looked relatively explosive, running for 40 yards on seven attempts. He is in the RB3 mix for Week 7 versus the Saints.
  • PIT Running Back #13
Dowdle was active for the first time since injuring his toe in Week 2. He initially formed a near 50-50 committee with Jaylen Warren, but the latter pulled away in the fourth quarter and overtime. Warren racked up four carries and one catch in overtime alone, bringing his touch total from 11 to 16. Dowdle saw a single carry in the extra frame. Dowdle’s role should grow in the coming weeks, but it’s clear that Warren is the top option in the backfield, leaving Dowdle as a low-end RB3 for Week 7 versus the Saints.
  • PIT Running Back #13
Dowdle is back after missing three games with the toe issue. He will form a committee with Jaylen Warren, but the latter’s elite play last week likely earned him a larger split of the backfield in Week 6. Dowdle will primarily operate between the tackles, pushing him to the back of the RB3 ranks.
  • PIT Running Back #13
Dowdle has been out since Week 2 because of the toe issue. In the meantime, Jaylen Warren has looked like one of the league’s most dynamic backs on the ground and through the air. While his gargantuan workload will return to normal with Dowdle back, Warren should still operate as the team’s unquestioned RB1. Dowdle is just a mid-range FLEX play for his first game back.
  • PIT Running Back #13
Dowdle seemingly has a good chance to play. He was limited on Wednesday, but practiced in full on Thursday and Friday. However, Jaylen Warren has played extremely well with Dowdle sidelined and coach Mike McCarthy has said that Warren will remain a high-volume player. If active, Dowdle is a FLEX starter.
  • PIT Running Back #13
It’s his first full practice since suffering the toe injury. Dowdle looks to be headed for hard-to-trust FLEX territory with Jaylen Warren crushing in his absence and Mike McCarthy (rightfully) saying that Warren deserves the lion’s share of the workload at the moment.
  • PIT Running Back #13
Dowdle is expected to return to action this week after missing the past three games with a toe injury. Jaylen Warren has dominated the Steelers’ backfield in his absence and the results have been marvelous. He currently leads the team in rushing (410) and receiving yards (230). Even once healthy, Dowdle will likely struggle to force a 1B role in the backfield right away. He will be an RB4 for Week 6 if he’s given the green light.

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said the team is still evaluating the severity of Jaylin Noel’s turf toe injury.

Noel suffered his injury in Sunday’s loss to the Giants and was spotted in a boot after the game. He ran just 15 routes in the game and was held to two catches for -3 yards. Noel is at risk of missing time, but even if he is active, there’s little reason to hold onto him given the suddenly crowded Texans receiver room.

Texans GM Nick Caserio said he expects to eventually reach a deal on a contract extension with C.J. Stroud.

Speaking on Monday with the media, Caserio said that “nobody is discouraged” with how negotiations with Stroud and his agent have gone thus far, saying that the two sides just “couldn’t quite come to an agreement” yet. Stroud is in the fourth year of his rookie contract and had his fifth-year option picked up by the team earlier this offseason. He will be under contract through the 2027 regardless of how negotiations go, but we would expect him to sign a long-term extension at some point next offseason to avoid this becoming an issue come training camp. Despite the Texans’ 2-5 start to the season, Stroud has been mostly solid, throwing for 1,867 yards, 11 touchdowns, and one interception while completing 64.8 percent of his passes.

    Patriots released P Bryce Baringer.

Baringer has been on injured reserve all season while dealing with a lower-body injury, but the 27-year-old punter is now healthy and available for work after his release. A former sixth-round pick of the Patriots back in 2023, Baringer has played in 51 games in his career while averaging 41.0 net yards per punt. He is now free to sign with any team.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Aaron Jones is considered “day-to-day” after suffering a knee injury in Week 7’s win over the Colts.

Jones’ status will be one to watch this week as the Vikings prepare for their Week 8 matchup against the Lions. While the team calling him day-to-day is encouraging, Jones was already dealing with a knee injury entering Week 7, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the Vikings opted to sit him this week to give him some additional time to recover. Jordan Mason, who rushed 15 times for 68 yards in Sunday’s win over the Colts could be in line for a busy day against the Lions if Jones is unable to go.

Cam Skattebo told ESPN’s Dan Graziano that he thinks he will be okay after suffering a hamstring injury in the Giants’ Week 7 win over the Texans.

Skattebo appeared to have tweaked his hammy on a 42-yard run in overtime that had a chance to be the game-winning run for the Giants. Despite the scare, Skattebo said he expects to be okay, especially with the Giants set to enter their Week 8 bye. His status will be one to monitor when the Giants resume practicing ahead of Week 9’s game against the Eagles, but for now, it doesn’t sound like there’s too much to be worried about here. Skattebo rushed 17 times for 124 yards and a touchdown last week after failing to see a touch in Week 6 following his costly Week 5 fumble against the Commanders.

Packers C Sean Rhyan is believed to have suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 7’s loss to the Lions.

Rhyan exited in the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Lions after he had his leg rolled up on during the Packers’ fourth offensive play of the game. The 26-year-old lineman did not return to the game and is now looking at a potential four-to-six-week absence. Rhyan has started every game at center for the Packers this season, allowing three sacks and 10 pressures on 394 snaps. He was replaced by John Williams, a tackle, who could be in line to make the start next week given the multiple injuries along the Packers’ offensive line.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Packers LB Zaire Franklin will miss some time with a hairline fracture in his leg.

Franklin missed Week 7’s game due to the injury after accidentally getting kicked in practice. While Franklin is expected to miss some time, Rapoport reports the team is not planning to place him on injured reserve and believes he will miss “minimal games.” Franklin has totaled 41 tackles and one forced fumble this season.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports Saquon Barkley (hamstring) is “trending toward playing” in Week 7 against the Cowboys.

Garafolo pointed out that Barkley isn’t a guarantee to play on Monday, but said “everything is looking good” for Barkley to make his return. Barkley was updated to a full participant in practice on Saturday but still carries a questionable tag into Monday night’s game against the Cowboys. While it’s always good to have a backup plan in case Barkley can’t go, we would be surprised if he doesn’t suit up, given his practice status all week and this latest report from Garafolo.
Omar Cooper Jr. stayed hot with another 100 yards and a touchdown in Week 7. Fellow rookie Caleb Douglas also broke out with two touchdowns of his own. Both players headline the list of best waiver wire targets for Week 8.

Raiders’ head coach Klint Kubiak said the team is “thinking about everything” in regards to the team’s QB situation after Week 7’s loss to the Rams.

Kubiak was asked about the possibility of switching from Kirk Cousins to rookie No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza, and said the team is considering “everything” while also making it sound like their struggles were more of a team issue. Cousins struggled in the early part of Sunday’s loss to the Rams, but managed some late touchdowns in garbage time to save his stat line. If the Raiders are considering a switch, it’s possible we’ll learn their decision by Wednesday, when they begin preparing for their Week 8 game against the Jets.

Cooper Kupp caught both targets for 20 yards in the Seahawks’ Week 7 win over the Chiefs.

Kupp saw sparse usage as Jaxon Smith-Njigba went off in the first half and the team transitioned to a run-heavy approach while playing with a lead after the break. Fellow receiver Rashid Shaheed departed with a knee injury following a collision with Smith-Njigba in the end zone at the end of the second quarter, which is something managers will will want to monitor ahead of a Week 8 meeting with the Bears on Monday Night Football. Kupp could work his way into the FLEX discussion if Shaheed misses time.
