Colts selected Kansas State CB Julius Brent with the No. 44 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Brents (6’3/213) initially attended Iowa as a three-star safety prospect, grinding out three years of inconsistent snaps under old-school head coach Kirk Ferentz’s perennially stout defense that had a settled depth chart after he returned from a season-long injury suffered in 2019. He transferred to Kansas State in 2021 and immediately earned a starting role, though there was an adjustment period as he allowed a subpar 64% completion rate and 101.9 passer rating. It all came together for Brents in 2022, posting a 46% completion rate and 57.7 passer rating, which were drastic improvements over 2021. He also grew into his body, learning to leverage his elite change of direction ability and vast wingspan (34” arms) to rack up eight pass break ups, four interceptions, and 45 tackles. The First Team All-Big 12 corner took over the Combine by running a 4.05 shuttle (91st percentile), 6.63 3-Cone (98th percentile) and 1.5 10-yard split (96%) to go with 99th percentile jumping drills for a near-perfect 9.99 RAS. Brents will join a Colts secondary graded by PFF as last year’s 13th best coverage unit.

  • KC Tight End #87

The Kansas City Star’s Pete Sweeney reports that Chiefs TE Travis Kelce was not seen during the voluntary organized team activities viewing session on Thursday.
Today’s session was voluntary and Kelce is entering his 13th NFL season. We would love it if he were there, but we are not worried about his absence. Kelce signed a three-year extension late in March and will once again man the TE1 spot in Kansas City this season. The Chiefs have another three-day OTA run from June 1-3. Mandatory minicamp goes from June 9-11.
Jones needs to be ready in Week 1 for Colts WRs
Denny Carter and Kyle Dvorchak explain why Daniel Jones should be ready to start in Week 1 after suffering an Achilles tear and why Colts pass catchers need him under center for fantasy purposes.
  • NO Running Back #41
Saints head coach Kellen Moore said there is “no timeline” for figuring out RB Alvin Kamara’s status on the roster.
For the time being, Kamara remains a Saint. It is entirely unclear how long that will remain the case. Early last week, general manager Mickey Loomis said the team is trying to figure out Kamara’s fit on the roster. A few days later, New Orleans Football’s Mike Triplett said he thinks the team would “go shopping” for an RB2 candidate if Kamara leaves the team via trade or release. If that’s the case, it suggests the Saints still see a talent gap between Kamara and his backups. Perhaps, keeping Kamara in New Orleans ends up making sense for both sides.
  • NO Wide Receiver
New Orleans Football’s Mike Triplett reports that WR Jordyn Tyson’s “participation was very limited” today at the team’s first organized team activities session open to media.
The Saints have been conducting on-field, non-contract drills since April 20th. Organized team activities officially began yesterday, though media members were not allowed to attend. Tyson has already been given rest days, as the team puts together “a plan for him,” and per Triplett, Tyson’s limited participation was expected. The rookie wide receiver “was dressed in jersey and helmet and stood by for the entire practice.” We are not concerned about Tyson’s health at this time, but hope to see his participation increase in the coming weeks.
  • KC Wide Receiver #1
Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy is wearing a non-contact jersey at organized team activities.
This is presumably related to the shoulder injury that head coach Andy Reid says limited Worthy throughout the 2025 season. Questions remain as to how large a workload Worthy, 23, can handle. But with TE Travis Kelce entering his age-36 season and No. 1 WR Rashee Rice dealing with more health and off-field issues, Worthy has the opportunity to carve out a sizable role right now.
  • KC Quarterback #15
Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (knee) said that he is working toward being cleared for full participation by the time training camp begins.
Mahomes acknowledges that it is “unclear” whether he will actually be ready to fully participate once training camp begins. His recovery timeline includes checkpoints that occur every one-to-two weeks. The next step is running, cutting and proving to the training staff “that he can protect himself.” Mahomes’ rehab seems to be going very well. He seemingly has a chance to be ready for Week 1.
  • CHI Wide Receiver #10
Bears head coach Ben Johnson said he is “buying Luther Burden stock right now.”
Johnson’s endorsement is going to push Burden’s ADP up, and it’s not necessarily unreasonable to chase it. In early April, Johnson said he needs to get the ball in Burden’s hands “as often as we possibly can.” Continued praise from the head coach is always a good thing. Hopes are high for the second-year receiver, who posted an 8/138/1 receiving line in Week 17 fantasy championships. Burden is set to compete with TE Colston Loveland and WR Rome Odunze for targets, though, and it is unclear exactly where Burden sits in the target pecking order right now. Johnson adds that Burden has had an “electric” offseason, is consistently finishing his practice reps and has “been extremely coachable,” while refining his speed cuts, sharp breaks and releases. Hopefully, the positive reports continue to roll in for the talented, young playmaker.
  • PIT OFFENSIVE TACKLE (SUB) #77
The Athletic’s Mike DeFabo reports that Steelers OT Broderick Jones (neck) “is beginning to do a bit more” at organized team activities.
Jones underwent surgery on his neck in March. The Steelers declined to exercise his fifth-year option early in May after spending the No. 21 overall pick on OT Max Iheanachor. Fellow Steelers OT Troy Fautanu also recently told reporters that the team wants him to move to left tackle. Jones was present at OTAs last week, but did not participate in team drills. It appears as though he will have to compete for a starting role this season. In today’s report, DeFabo shared a video of Jones doing sled work alongside OL Doug Nester, who was signed to a reserve/futures contract after being released last summer.
  • CHI Defensive Back #1
Bears CB Jaylon Johnson is participating in voluntary organized team activities “beginning this week.”
A report from last week indicated that Johnson had not been present at the Bears’ facility. Veterans sometimes stay home early in the spring, so it wasn’t a huge issue, but it is nice to know that the Bears’ star cornerback is back in the building, working out with his teammates. Johnson was sidelined by a significant offseason injury last year, variously reported as groin, hamstring and calf issues. He played in Weeks 1 and 2 before ultimately undergoing core muscle surgery and returning in Week 13. Hopefully, Johnson enjoys good health this season.
  • FA Running Back #3
Zamir White worked out for the Dolphins.
The free agent running back finished his rookie contract with the Raiders in 2025. He only appeared in six games and logged just 12 carries. With Dolphins UDFA Le’Veon Moss retiring from football, the team could need an extra body for training camp. White would fill that role, though ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler notes he is expected to work out for other teams in the coming weeks.
  • NYJ Quarterback #11
Jets coach Aaron Glenn said there is an “open competition” between Bailey Zappe, Cade Klubnik, and Brady Cook for the team’s backup quarterback position.
Glenn added that Zappe took the second-team reps behind Geno Smith in practice on Wednesday. Zappe has the most NFL experience of the bunch, so that shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. It also doesn’t mean he will hold the QB2 job into Week 1. Since entering the NFL, Zappe ranks 78th out of 84 qualified quarterbacks in EPA per play (min. 150 plays). The good news for him is that Cook holds spot No. 84. As a fourth-round pick, Klubnik does have some potential, and his competition for the QB2 job is exceptionally weak. No matter who earns the backup gig, the hope for Jets fans will be that we never see them in 2026.
