Saints signed Southern Mississippi WR Jason Brownlee.
Brownlee’s (6’2/198) collegiate career began in 2018 at East Mississippi Community College, but the tall, lanky wideout caught on with Southern Miss at the start of 2020. With over 2,000 receiving yards to his name, Brownlee never crested 1,000 yards in a season but averaged a solid 15.9 YPR while proving valuable on contested targets thanks in part to his elite vertical jump. Brownlee hauled in 15-of-33 contested targets in his senior season and will compete for anything that comes his way. Poor quarterback play did little to help Brownlee tap into his upside, with Southern Miss occasionally running a full-on Wildcat offense in hopes of generating yards. He’ll make for an interesting developmental player at the next level, especially playing alongside NFL talent.
