Oliver was released after the 2023 season by the 49ers, allowing him to agree to a deal prior to the start of the new league year. It was his sole season as a 49er, starting six games and snagging one interception. Oliver also played special teams and did not log a defensive snap during the postseason. Prior to joining the 49ers, Oliver spent five seasons with the Falcons, establishing himself as a nickel corner. He is now expected to join the Jets’ secondary on a one-year contract.

Duggan buried this thought in a lengthy social media post last Wednesday. He says Giants RBs Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy “are fine,” but notes that the front office was “open to upgrading to a premier back,” referring to Cardinals rookie RB Jeremiyah Love. Duggan “could see a vet signing,” like free agent RB Najee Harris (Achilles) once he is healthy, “or a trade.” A veteran like Harris would slide into the RB3 role, and might occasionally steal enough touches to hurt Skattebo’s weekly ceiling outcomes. A premier back would have a much larger impact a player like that would obviously be much harder to acquire at this point. That outcome seems far less likely. Hopefully, the Giants keep the position group as is, and Skattebo rumbles to an RB2 finish or better, showing no ill effects of the devastating ankle injury he suffered last season.

The Packers’ right tackle recently changed his last name from Tom to Bako-Bewele. He suffered a partial patellar tendon tear in Week 15 against the Broncos and underwent surgery to correct the issue this offseason. When asked about his availability for the regular season, Bako-Bewele said he will play in Week 1.

Fowler does acknowledge that Vea’s camp has “pretty heavy” trade interest and also notes that Vea has felt his contract has been outdated “for a long time.” Fowler adds that in his opinion it doesn’t seem like the Bucs really tried to reach an extension with Vea, at least as compared to how they acted with Baker Mayfield. It’s hard to make a trade with a team that doesn’t want to make a trade, so we’ll see how this unfolds but it’s far from certain that the Bucs will actually make good on Vea’s trade request.

LaFleur elaborated that Kraft will have to hit all his benchmarks to get there, but that it’s squarely in play is great news for Kraft’s chances of being available for Week 1. We’d still expect him to be eased into camp practices, but this is trending in the right direction.

He was joined by James Robinson (remember him?) and former Seahawk Kenny McIntosh. The Raiders previously brought in Najee Harris for a visit earlier in the offseason, so it’s clear they want an element in their room they don’t have yet behind Ashton Jeanty and third-round pick Mike Washington Jr. Ogunbowale would seem to be a good fit as a passing-down back.

Gardner-Johnson was carted off with a scary-looking injury that appeared to be near his Achilles. It looks as if he’s avoided the worst-case scenario, though we still wouldn’t be surprised if he missed a lot of time. The team should have further updates soon.

It’s very early in training camp and we aren’t really concerned at this point, but it is a bit alarming that Monangai’s injury has kept him out this many practices in a row. Cronin points out that Monangai is the only player not practicing who isn’t on the PUP or NFI lists. We’ll keep an eye on this one.

Bates strained his hamstring in practice on Thursday. The veteran blocking tight end’s absence likely won’t change much as long as it doesn’t linger into the season. Ben Sinnott will likely get more opportunities in training camp.

Jim Harbaugh declined to answer when asked if Tuipulotu is holding in, saying only that it’s being “handled internally.” So, yeah, he’s almost undoubtedly holding in. Tuipulotu is coming off a career-high 13 sacks in 2025 and will be a free agent after the season, so it would behoove the Chargers to get something done here.

That could be very interesting news for James Cook’s value in PPR leagues. Cook caught 33 passes last year and has broken 40 catches once in four seasons. Ty Johnson has been the team’s third-down back for most of the last two years when healthy, but probably won’t get enough receptions for this to make him more fantasy-interesting.
