  • NYG Running Back #29
Giants RB Tyrone Tracy (ankle) was not listed on the injury report for Week 1 against the Vikings.
Tracy suffered a scary injury in August that required an air cast before he was carted off the field. Despite the optics, it was simply a rather minor ankle issue for the rookie. He considered week-to-week but didn’t miss much practice time and is now good to go for Week 1. Tracy played ahead of backup Eric Gray in the Giants’ first preseason game, indicating he had the inside track to RB2 duties at the time. Fantasy managers can continue to stash Tracy as an exciting insurance option on veteran Devin Singletary.
  • KC Wide Receiver #5
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Chiefs WR Hollywood Brown (shoulder) “is not expected to play” in 2024.
Brown will be sidelined until at least January after undergoing shoulder surgery. He picked up in the injury in the preseason and was placed on injured reserve this week when the team decided surgery was necessary. Brown, 27, could return for a postseason run barring a rehab setback. Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy will be KC’s top two receivers for the remainder of the season, with Rice functioning as the team’s clear No. 1 wideout.
  • PHI Wide Receiver #11
Eagles listed WR A.J. Brown (hamstring) questionable for MNF against the Falcons.
Brown popped on the injury report Friday as a limited participant before being held out Saturday, something that typically indicates the injury was suffered during the week in practice. Furthermore, players that pick up soft tissue ailments during the week typically have a hard time playing that same week, raising significant doubt about Brown’s potential availability for Monday Night Football against the Falcons. Fantasy managers will want to pursue alternative options after a similar situation developed in Week 1 with Christian McCaffrey.
  • GB Quarterback #10
Packers downgraded QB Jordan Love (knee) to doubtful for Week 2 against the Colts.
Love never appeared to have a legitimate shot at suiting up against the Colts after suffering an MCL sprain in Week 1, although the fact the team did not place him on injured reserve and initially listed his as questionable for Week 2 has to be a good sign to Packers faithful. Love’s next chance of suiting up, barring a last minute miracle, will come in Week 3 when the team travels to Tennessee to face the Titans.
  • SF Running Back #23
49ers placed RB Christian McCaffrey (calf, Achilles) on injured reserve.
After the surprise inactive in week 1, the 49ers have now placed their star running back on injured reserve. He will miss at least four games, paving the way for Jordan Mason to serve as the workhorse running back for one of the league’s top offenses. The 49ers have their bye in Week 9 this season, hinting at the potential for McCaffrey to remain out until Week 10 as a worst-case scenario. If you haven’t added him yet, run to the waiver wire and scoop up Mason.
  • PHI Wide Receiver #11
Eagles coach Nick Sirianni was noncommittal on A.J. Brown’s (hamstring) Week 2 status Saturday.
“We’ll see how that goes,” Sirianni said, unhelpfully. Sirianni said the superstar wideout’s hammy “tightened up” in Friday’s practice. Brown has an extra day to get healthy since the Eagles are playing on Monday night, but at this point, we would have to consider him genuinely questionable. He will undoubtedly get slapped with that official tag later Saturday. It’s still possible Brown is ready for his typical workload Monday, but fantasy managers need to begin prepping a backup plan. Ray-Ray McCloud is a bargain-basement Monday night option available in the majority of leagues.
  • LV Cornerback #27
Raiders elevated EDGE K’Lavon Chaisson and CB Sam Webb from the practice squad for Week 2 against the Ravens.
With CB Decamerion Richardson and EDGE Tyree Wilson ruled out for Week 2, the Raiders will call up Chaisson and Webb to add some extra depth to their defense.
  • NYG Kicker #9
The Giants added Graham Gano to the injury report with a groin injury.
The kicker doesn’t have an injury designation for the game, so he’s available to kick and will likely suit up; however, it’s worth monitoring that he’s dealing with some injury. If he reaggravates it during the game, it would obviously change the Giants’ offensive approach.
  • JAX Defensive Back #26
Jaguars S Darnell Savage (quad) is not expected to play in Week 2 against the Browns.
Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said that the “chances are probably not” that Savage would be able to suit up for this week’s game. The veteran practiced in full on Wednesday but then missed practice on Thursday, which raised concerns. With cornerback Tyson Campbell also out, the Jaguars will be down two starters when they take on the Browns this weekend which could give an extra boost to Amari Cooper and Jerry Jeudy if the Browns can get their offense on track.
  • CLE Quarterback #4
The Athletic’s Diani Russini reported that Deshaun Watson’s contract has language in it that would allow the Browns to void his guaranteed money if the NFL finds the newest lawsuit against him credible.
Watson has faced numerous lawsuits for sexual misconduct dating back to his time with the Texans but has denied all of them. However, on Monday a new lawsuit was entered, which has launched a new NFL investigation and caused people to look over the details of his contract with the Browns. According to Russini, “It appears that if the quarterback did not alert the team about the account detailed in the civil suit filed this week, and if an NFL investigation reveals the account detailed in the lawsuit to be credible, the Browns could void the guarantees in Watson’s contract.” We may not have any closure on this situation for a few weeks, but it does appear the Browns have a chance to get out of his disastrous contract.
  • GB Quarterback #10
The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported that Jordan Love “has not been medically cleared to play.”
This shouldn’t come as a major surprise since Love’s knee injury was initially reported to be a multi-week injury; however, as Russini points out “The Packers are trying to keep all competitive advantages intact, which includes forcing opponents to prepare for all their QBs.” In reality, Russini believes that “The most optimistic timeline would have him back for Week 4 against the Vikings if there are no snags.” When he does come back, Love is expected to play with a knee brace for protection and function which could impact his overall mobility. Fantasy managers with Love should expect the quarterback to miss the next two or three games.
