49ers signed Baylor WR KD Cannon.
Cannon (5’11/182) started all three years at Baylor before turning pro, leaving school with a career 195-3,113-27 (16.0 YPR) receiving line and earning first-team All-Big 12 from the conference’s coaches as a junior. While Cannon won with blazing speed (4.41) in the Bears’ wide-open spread, he is a chronic body catcher and one-trick lid lifter whose tape lacks nuance and any hint of physicality. He also showed unreliable hands, dropping nine passes in 2016. PFF College compared Cannon to Travis Benjamin, which is probably his ceiling.

    49ers waived WR KD Cannon.
The Niners are eating a $45K signing bonus they gave Cannon nine days ago. A big-name undrafted free agent out of Baylor, Cannon was cut immediately after rookie minicamp. Assuming he is healthy and not dealing with an off-field issue, we suspect Cannon will be claimed off waivers. A one-trick speedster, Cannon has drawn comparisons to Chargers WR Travis Benjamin.

Jets claimed WR KD Cannon off waivers from the 49ers.
The 49ers thought so little of Cannon they cut him eight days after signing him to a deal that included $45,000 guaranteed, but the Jets are taking a chance on his lid-lifting speed. Even in talent-bereft New York, Cannon’s best-case scenario is probably the practice squad.

    Jets waived WR KD Cannon.
Now cut by both the Jets and 49ers, the hyped UDFA’s outlook is bleak.
  • FA Wide Receiver #81
    Rams signed WR KD Cannon.
A priority UDFA, Cannon failed to make it to training camp with both the Jets and 49ers. He lands in a good spot with the wideout-needy Rams. Cannon will compete for one of the final receiver spots.

Cowboys signed WR KD Cannon, DB Marquez White, WR Brian Brown, S Jameill Showers, DT Joe Vellano, OT Jarron James and RB Trey Williams to reserve/future contracts.
A “name” UDFA out of Baylor, Cannon spent the year on the Cowboys’ practice squad. He was held without a catch in two preseason appearances. Cannon is a speedster (4.41) without much nuance to his game.
