Giants did not tender OG Kyle Murphy, making him a free agent.
Murphy was an exclusive rights free agent, so all the Giants had to offer was a minimum deal. The fact they declined is not a great sign for Murphy’s NFL future. Murphy missed all of 2021 with an ankle injury.

Giants placed G Kyle Murphy (ankle) on injured reserve.
The timeline for his return remains unclear. Murphy was injured in New York’s first preseason game against the Jets Saturday, rolling his ankle and getting carted off the field. It’s another hit to the team’s abysmal o-line, which ranked 27th in Football Outsiders’ Adjusted Sack Rate metric just last year. LB T.J. Brunson and S Joshua Kalu were also placed on IR.

G Kyle Murphy (ankle) was carted to the locker room during the Giants’ preseason game against the Jets.
Murphy signed with the Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2020 but never appeared in a game, bouncing between the practice squad and active roster as a rookie. His prognosis doesn’t look good given he was carted off and immediately ruled out. The Giants are lacking in the trenches, and this is another hit to their offensive line depth.
