Diamondbacks acquired OF Brandon Jacobs from the White Sox to complete the Adam Eaton trade.
Jacobs batted .244/.320/.407 with 13 homers and 12 steals in 127 games this past summer between High-A and Double-A. The The 23-year-old was a 10th-round pick of the Red Sox in the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft.
  • Diamondbacks outfield prospect Brandon Jacobs went 2-for-3 with a double and two walks on Saturday for High-A Visalia.
He is hitting .271/.340/.479 with three home runs and a double on the season in his return to High-A. Jacobs is a tremendous athlete who has struggled to turn his athletic ability into baseball production. After a breakout 2011, he struggled for the next two seasons, which included getting traded twice (from the Red Sox to the White Sox to the Diamondbacks) in a five month span in 2013. If he can cut down on his strikeouts, he could turn into a middle of the order force with 25-plus home run potential.
  • Royals signed OF Brandon Jacobs to a minor league contract.
The 24-year-old had a disappointing 2014 season at High-A Visalia, slashing a mere .210/.291/.410 with 16 homers and 36 RBI while striking out 111 times in just 310 at-bats. He still has nice power potential, but the shine has worn off his once top prospect status.
  • White Sox acquired OF Brandon Jacobs from the Red Sox for LHP Matt Thornton.
Jacobs, a 22-year-old outfielder, was a 10th round selection by the Red Sox in the 2009 draft. In 81 games this season at High-A Salem, he hit .244/.334/.440 with 11 homers, 44 RBI and 10 stolen bases. He possesses plenty of raw talent, but has been slow to develop and is still a few years away from contributing at the big league level.
  • Brandon Jacobs went 2-for-5 and hit his third homer in four games for low Single-A Greenville on Sunday.
Jacobs was considered more of a raw talent after the Red Sox signed him away from an Auburn football scholarship last year, but he’s off to a fantastic start for Greenville, having gone 6-for-14 with a 3/3 K/BB ratio. Last year, he hit .242/.308/.411 with six homers and a 59/21 K/BB ratio for short-season Single-A Lowell.
