Dave Hansen, already sidelined with a strained left quad, was a victim of food poisoning Thursday.
    Hansen remains day-to-day.
  • SEA 1st Baseman
The Mariners hope to deal Dave Hansen by Saturday’s interleague trading deadline to create a roster spot for shortstop prospect Jose Lopez.
There is also a strong possibility that Seattle will move left-handed reliever Mike Myers. If promoted, Lopez will get an eight-week audition as the Mariners’ starting shortstop. He should be watched very carefully.
  • SEA 1st Baseman
Dave Hansen made his second career appearance at second base during Thursday’s game.
Hansen’s primarily a pinch-hitter, so even if he’s eligible at second base in your league, he remains without value.

Cubs signed first baseman-third baseman Dave Hansen to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Hansen hit .245/.367/.349 in 106 AB while being used mostly as a pinch-hitter by the Padres last season. He’s still a decent use of a roster spot, but the Cubs won’t have room for him unless they opt to drop Jose Macias now that they have Jerry Hairston Jr.
  • SEA 1st Baseman
After taking over at first base one inning into the game, Dave Hansen went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI today.
Richie Sexson left with blurred vision. The home run was Hansen’s second of the season. He’s hit exactly two in each of the last five years.
  • SEA 1st Baseman
    Cubs released infielder Dave Hansen.
Hansen didn’t get much of a chance to make an impression after undergoing an appendectomy on March 14. Another team may want him as a pinch-hitter.
  • SEA 1st Baseman
Dave Hansen underwent an emergency appendectomy early Monday morning and will be out at least two to three weeks.
Now Hansen will definitely have to spend some time in the minors before the Cubs consider handing him a bench spot. He wasn’t looking like a very good bet to make the team.
  • SEA 1st Baseman
Mariners placed infielder Dave Hansen on the 15-day disabled list with left elbow tendinitis.
The Mariners will use Chris Snelling and Scott Spiezio as pinch-hitters until Hansen makes his way back.
  • SEA 1st Baseman
Mariners activated infielder Dave Hansen from the 15-day disabled list.
For real this time. Hansen will be used primarily as a pinch-hitter.
