Alejandro De Aza out this weekend with back injury
White Sox center fielder Alejandro De Aza made a premature exit Friday night after injuring his back on a slide into second base and is not action Saturday.
Sunday isn’t looking very promising either.
According to beat writer Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times, De Aza was walking “gingerly” before Saturday’s game against the Royals and did not participate in any part of the pregame workout due to lingering soreness near his left oblique.
“It was something that was cramping up on him,” White Sox manager Robin Ventura said of the injury. “I think it’s more of being on the turf in Toronto. DeWayne [Wise] has filled in great, so we’ll give him a couple days.”
De Aza is batting .281/.346/.398 in 111 games this season while serving as Chicago’s primary leadoff man.
