From Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports comes word that the Braves have agreed to terms on a minor league contract with veteran reliever Todd Coffey. The deal comes with an invitation to spring training, where the 34-year-old right-hander will look to prove himself worthy of a spot in Atlanta’s Opening Day bullpen.

Coffey hasn’t appeared in a major league game since 2012, but he posted a promising 1.93 ERA in 37 1/3 innings of relief last season for the Mariners’ Triple-A affiliate in Tacoma, Washington. Coffey owns a 4.10 ERA in 438 2/3 career big league frames.

The eight-year MLB veteran has pitched for the Reds, Brewers, Nationals, and Dodgers.
