Another injury to the Giants outfield, as right fielder Hunter Pence suffered a strained oblique muscle during Monday’s game and has been placed on the disabled list.

San Francisco is already without center fielder Angel Pagan and left fielder Nori Aoki, although it sounds like Aoki is close to returning from the concussion disabled list. Given the typical recovery timetable for oblique injuries Pence could be sidelined well into September.

This is Pence’s third disabled list stint of the season, but when in the lineup he’s done his usual thing by hitting .275 with nine homers and an .806 OPS in 52 games to match his career norms.

As of right now the Giants’ starting outfield is probably Ryan Lollis, Gregor Blanco, and Justin Maxwell. Yeesh.
