The Cubs suspended Ian Stewart indefinitely after he angrily tweeted about his status within the organization. The team has amended that suspension to ten days, citing a violation of the loyalty clause in his contract, according to Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune. Stewart is appealing the suspension.

Stewart and the Cubs agreed to a one-year, $2 million deal during the off-season, coming off of a season in which the corner infielder posted a meager .627 OPS. The Cubs sent him to Triple-A to prove himself, but he has a .657 OPS in 133 trips to the plate in Iowa.
