Astros third baseman Yulieski Gurriel smacked his first big league home run in a losing effort Wednesday against the Indians. The blast, a two-run shot, came off of an Andrew Miller slider in the top of the eighth inning with a runner on second base and one out in a 2-2 count and helped cut the Astros’ deficit to 6-5.

Gurriel finished 2-for-4 on the evening. Now with 14 major league games under his belt, he’s batting .318/.340/.455 with six RBI in 47 plate appearances.

The Astros signed Gurriel as a free agent out of Cuba in July earlier this year, agreeing to a five-year, $47.5 million contract.
