ESPN’s Shams Charania reports the Trail Blazers have acquired Jrue Holiday in exchange for Anfernee Simons and two second-round picks.
One year after winning a championship and signing a contract extension, Holiday is on his way out of Boston. The 35-year-old point guard was traded back to the Trail Blazers in a move that saves Boston enough cap space to potentially get under the second apron. Holiday averaged 11.1 points per game, 4.3 rebounds per game and 3.9 assists per game last year. He was ranked 107th in per game value by Basketball Monster. The Trail Blazers were aggressive in re-acquiring Holiday, who should have a major role with the team next year.

Jrue Holiday finished Friday’s Game 6 loss to the Knicks with four points (1-of-8 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), four rebounds, three assists and one steal in 30 minutes.
Between the hamstring injury that sidelined him for the final three games of the first round and his inconsistent production when available, this was a disappointing postseason for Holiday. Friday’s performance was his worst, with the veteran guard shooting 12.5 percent from the field. Unfortunately, Holiday’s 2024-25 season was underwhelming regarding fantasy value, as he finished outside the top-100 for the first time since his rookie season (2009-10). Holiday’s fantasy prospects next season will be impacted by Jayson Tatum (Achilles) likely missing a significant amount of time, but that may also mean an expanded role for Payton Pritchard. Pritchard finished Friday’s loss with 11 points, two rebounds, four assists and one three-pointer in 28 minutes.

Jrue Holiday (hamstring) is off the injury report for Game 1 against the Knicks on Monday.
Holiday fully participated in Saturday’s practice after missing the final three games of the Celtics’ first-round series against the Magic. He’s absent from the injury report for Monday, so Boston will have its full rotation available to begin the second round. Due to Holiday’s return, Al Horford will come off the bench.

Jrue Holiday (hamstring) was a full participant in practice on Saturday.
When asked about Holiday’s recovery, head coach Joe Mazzulla said, “He was able to do everything that we worked on. He’s getting better everyday.” Al Horford has been starting in place of Holiday and will likely remain in that role for Game 1 against the Knicks on Monday if Holiday remains out. The injury report should provide a clearer update on Holiday, but this is a positive development for his chances of returning after missing Games 3-5 against the Magic.
  • BOS Small Forward #7
Jaylen Brown (knee) is available for Game 5 on Tuesday against the Magic.
Brown is available after the Celtics listed him as questionable on the initial injury report. The reigning champions will only be without one starter, Jrue Holiday, for Tuesday’s game as they look to close out the Magic. Al Horford will remain the fifth starter.
  • BOS Point Guard #4
Jrue Holiday (hamstring) has been ruled out for Game 5 against the Magic on Tuesday.
This will be the third straight game that Holiday has missed with this hamstring issue. With a chance to close this series out at home, Al Horford will remain in the starting unit once again.

Jaylen Brown (knee) is available for Game 4 against the Magic on Sunday.
For the second consecutive game, Brown has been cleared after the Celtics listed him as questionable on the initial injury report. He’ll take on his usual role within the starting lineup. Jrue Holiday (hamstring) is the only starter missing; Al Horford will remain in the starting five.
  • BOS Point Guard #4
Jrue Holiday (hamstring) is out for Game 4 against the Magic on Sunday.
Holiday will miss a second straight game with a strained right hamstring and is considered day-to-day, according to Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla. Al Horford will remain in the starting lineup as long as the Celtics are down a starter.
  • BOS Point Guard #4
Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla said Saturday that Jrue Holiday (hamstring) remains day-to-day.
Holiday sat out Boston’s Game 3 loss to the Magic on Friday with a strained right hamstring. While his status for Game 4 on Sunday has not been officially determined, the veteran guard will be considered day-to-day. Al Horford has been the replacement in the starting lineup, and that will remain the case if Holiday is unable to play.
  • BOS Small Forward #0
Celtics will start Derrick White, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Al Horford and Kristaps Porzingis for Game 3 against the Magic on Friday.
Tatum is making a return from a nasty wrist injury that forced him to leave Game 1 and miss Game 2. With Jrue Holiday out with a hamstring injury, Horford will get another start for the defending champions as they look to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the series.
