It isn’t often that a player on one team drops 48 points, and (a) his team loses, and then (b) you can honestly say an opposing player finished with a better game.

But that’s how things shook out in Utah on Monday, where the Jazz got a win over the Thunder.

Kevin Durant was indeed a monster, pouring in 48 points on 34 shots. But Gordon Hayward was even more impressive, scoring a career-high 37 points on 13-of-16 shooting, to go along with 11 rebounds and seven assists.

Hayward scored 17 of his points during a brilliant fourth quarter performance, while Durant finished the final period 0-for-6 from the field, and the Jazz came away with the 112-101 victory over one of the league’s top teams.
