Good news Knicks fans — Madison Square Garden is open again, in plenty of time for John Wall to come to town Friday and shred your defense.
The Knicks announced today that the building is open again, according to Howard Beck at the New York Times. The next scheduled event is the Knicks hosting the Washington Wizards Friday night.
Tuesday night’s game against the Magic was cancelled after construction work in an attic area above the playing surface knocked down debris that was thought to contain asbestos. A statement by the Knicks said the building was cleared by “city and environmental experts.”
Tests showed know asbestos had been released into the arena. Whether or not asbestos was part of what was knocked down remains unclear, and with the Knicks penchant for secrecy we might as well try to find out what’s in Area 51 while we’re at it.
But the doors are open at MSG. No date for the makeup game between the teams has been set.
