Paul Pierce signed with the Clippers this month after one-year stints with the Wizards and Nets. He’s hinted in the past that this coming season will be his last, and he made that clear again on Tuesday afternoon, in his introductory press conference along with the team’s other free-agent signees this summer:
Paul Pierce: "This is probably the last ride of my career. I think this is where I'm going to end it."

In many ways, ending his career with the Clippers makes sense. Short of going back to Boston, which has never really seemed to be on the table, this situation gives him several opportunities. He gets to play for a contender, he will reunite with Doc Rivers (the coach with whom he won a championship in 2008), and he can end a Hall-of-Fame career in his hometown of Los Angeles.
