From the moment the Bulls fired Tom Thibodeau, Fred Hoiberg has been the favorite to replace him.

Really, Hoiberg’s favored status existed long before Chicago officially axed Thibodeau.

The Bulls and Hoiberg even reportedly had the parameters of a five-year contract set. It was just a matter of negotiating the particulars.

Apparently, there have been no hang-ups.

Gary Parrish of CBSSports.com:

It must be pretty easy to negotiate a deal when both sides knew it would happen for, what? Weeks? Months? Years?

Honestly, I’m surprised it’s taking this long to complete.

Hoiberg and/or the Bulls must have wanted to relax over the weekend.
