Davis Bertans scored all 12 of his points beyond the arc vs. Atlanta, going 4-of-10 from deep with four rebounds and two assists.
Bertans didn’t have any defensive stats tonight, but that’s not why you own him anyway. The Spurs’ bench took 21 triples tonight, representing 75% of their total shot attempts, and if you need a 3-point gunner it makes sense to grab Bertans. He’s also helped relegate Dante Cunningham and Quincy Pondexter to the DNP-CD dustbin.
  • FA Power Forward #33
Rudy Gay (wrist) and Marco Belinelli (knee) will play on Wednesday against the Mavericks.
Both Gay and Belinelli looked good at shootaround, and with these guys back in the lineup, we’d expect fewer minutes for Jakob Poeltl, Dante Cunningham, Quincy Pondexter and Davis Bertans. Gay has missed the past five games, but there’s been no word on a minutes limit, so owners should feel confident deploying him.
  • Power Forward #33
Dante Cunningham chipped in three points, five rebounds and one assist in 28 minutes on Sunday.
The Spurs were playing without Pau Gasol (sore left foot) and Davis Bertans (concussion), but there are no real winners in their absence. Cunningham has always been a hollow per-minute stat producer, Quincy Pondexter only logged three minutes tonight, and Jakob Poeltl didn’t fare much better with four points and five boards in eight minutes.
  • Small Forward #3
Quincy Pondexter scored eight points with two rebounds and one 3-pointer in 15 minutes against the Rockets on Saturday.
Pondexter saw an increase in minutes to due Dante Cunningham being in foul trouble and Rudy Gay unavailable. Leave him on the waiver wire.
  • CHI Shooting Guard #44
Tony Allen (mouth) will miss Friday night’s game against the Heat.
Quincy Pondexter will start in Allen’s place and is only a recommended play for Allen owners in a pinch.
  • Small Forward #3
Quincy Pondexter started for injured Tony Allen (mouth) on Friday, scoring four points on 2-of-4 shooting with two rebounds in 23 minutes.
Pondexter doesn’t produce on most occasions, even when he gets minutes. He’s waiver wire fodder.
  • Small Forward #3
Quincy Pondexter’s role has been increasing for the Grizzlies recently, as he’s averaging 25.8 minutes over the past four games.
After one recent game, coach Lionel Hollins described Q’s play as “stellar both on the offensive and defensive end.” His athleticism and energy provide another weapon for the Grizzlies, though he doesn’t currently offer fantasy value in average formats.
  • CHI Shooting Guard #44
Tony Allen played only 18 minutes in Sunday’s victory, after playing 21 minutes vs. Phoenix on Saturday.
Allen recently dealt with a stomach virus, which could explain the dip, but we’re more inclined to pin it on the solid play of Quincy Pondexter. Allen is typically a solid roto-style fantasy player, but he’s a borderline option with his minutes this low and the return of Zach Randolph can only hurt him.
  • FA Power Forward #33
Rudy Gay showed signs of a concussion after Sunday’s game and he will be re-evaluated on Monday.
Gay finished the game with seven points on 3-of-13 shooting in 32 minutes. Hopefully the tests will clear him of any serious problems, but concussions are always tough to read -- we’ve seen Kobe Bryant miss zero games, while Jason Smith’s season is probably over. Quincy Pondexter figures to be the biggest beneficiary if Gay is forced to miss any games.
  • FA Power Forward #33
Rudy Gay has officially been diagnosed with a concussion.
Gay’s concussion is being called “mild” and he was able to finish out Sunday’s game. He’ll now have to pass the NBA’s concussion protocols and be symptom-free before being cleared to play. We can only consider Gay questionable for Tuesday’s matchup with the Lakers. Quincy Pondexter and O.J. Mayo are candidates for extra minutes if Gay sits.
