The Raptors are expected to waive Robert Whaley after acqiring him in the Araujo-Humphries deal on Thursday.
It’s possible Whaley would be invited to play for the Jazz’s summer-league team and be given a chance to again make the roster.
  • Rafael Araujo was dealt to the Jazz Thursday in exchange for Kris Humphries and Robert Whaley.
After getting in some legal trouble early on with teammate Deron Williams, Whaley was in coach Jerry Sloan’s doghouse most of the year. He finished his rookie campaign averaging 2.1 PPG.
  • The Raptors, who traded for center Robert Whaley last week, have yet to ask the second-year forward to come in for an interview.
Whaley was thrown into the Humphris-Araujo deal just to match the salaries. “It’s hard for me to say anything about Robert being waived. They make that decision,” Whaley’s agent, Michael Naiditch said. “But if they are going to waive him, the sooner the better.”
  • The Raptors have waived center Robert Whaley.
They don’t need him now that they have Rasho Nesterovic.
  • Jazz signed second-round pick, forward Robert Whaley.
    No fantasy value here.
  • Robert Whaley is facing a possible suspension after punching Adam Parada.
Whaley might not even make the Jazz’s roster. “Robert is a rookie,” basketball boss Kevin O’Connor said, “and he’s got to learn his actions could cost the team something — and cost himself something.”
  • Robert Whaley has been suspended for two games for throwing a punch.
He swung at Adam Parada of the Lakers on Tuesday night.
  • Robert Whaley completed his two-game suspension Friday for punching a player during a preseason game but did not dress on Saturday.
With Greg Ostertag sustaining a calf injury, Whaley could get a few minutes as the No. 3 center next week.
  • Robert Whaley lied to the police and everyone else about his identity and how he cut his hand last weekend. Deron Williams gave the police a false name as well.
He originally said his son got ahold of a knife and that he was injured taking it away from him. The real story is that he and Deron Williams were in a Park City “establishment” late when some sort of incident took place that resulted in Whaley’s hand being cut open. Nice. It will be interesting to see if the Jazz or NBA take any action against the two rookies. For the record, Whaley told police he was Bobby Williams, while Williams told them he was Torry Ellis.
  • Robert Whaley returned from his one-game suspension tonight and had six points in 16 minutes.
He has no fantasy value, but at least he’s back with the team and not in jail for lying to the police.
