Sasha Pavlovic (gluteal strain) returned to practice Wednesday, but coach Terry Stotts said he was not 100 percent.
Pavlovic is officially listed as questionable for Thursday’s game against the Nuggets. Given his reserve role, Pavlovic’s impact in most leagues is minimal, although he could steal some extra time should Wesley Matthews (hip) sit against Denver.

  • POR Small Forward #3
Sasha Pavlovic is experiencing “big pain” in his right foot, caused by an irritation of the nerve between his big and second toe.
The condition is not expected to keep him out of action. The rookie averages 5.1 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.
  • POR Small Forward #3
The Jazz are attempting to pursuade the Bobcats not to take 2003 first-round pick Sasha Pavlovic in the expansion draft.
The Jazz may offer Charlotte a draft pick and/or cash in an effort to keep Pavlovic.
  • POR Small Forward #3
The Jazz are prepared to lose guard Sasha Pavlovic in the expansion draft.
Pavlovic, the 19th overall pick last year, was left available because the team has Raja Ball and plans to re-sign Gordan Giricek.
  • POR Small Forward #3
Sasha Pavlovic started at shooting guard as Ray Allen missed his sixth straight game, but failed to score in 24 minutes.
He was 0-for-3 from the field tonight, and should be ignored, regardless of who is playing for the Celtics.
  • POR Small Forward #3
Sasha Pavlovic led the Celtics in scoring with 16 points and added one rebound, two assists, a steal, a block and two 3-pointers on 7-of-10 shooting in 23 minutes in Tuesday’s win over the Heat.
Paul Pierce started but played (poorly) for just 18 minutes, and the only other Celtic in double figures was Marquis Daniels, who had 13 points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block in 30 minutes. This game was a disaster for TNT and it remains to be seen if the Celtics are going to play their studs in Thursday’s finale against the Bucks. If they win and the Hawks lose against the Mavericks, the Celtics would have homecourt advantage in the first round. Watch for updates for their plans on Thursday.
  • POR Center #54
With the Celtics sitting Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen and Mickael Pietrus, big man Greg Stiemsma will get a rare start on Friday night against the Hawks.
The Cs are going with a very depleted lineup of Avery Bradley, Brandon Bass, Keyon Dooling, Sasha Pavolic and Greg Stiemsma. Stiemsma offers some very interesting upside, as the last time he started he had eight points, five rebounds, six blocks and four steals in 27 minutes. Those are very valuable stats from a player not owned on many teams. He is a very viable pickup for any owners dealing with the injured Celtics, especially if you need blocks.
  • TOR Shooting Guard #20
Mickael Pietrus was taken off the floor in the second quarter of Friday’s game on a stretcher after what appeared to be a neck or head injury.
Pietrus leaves with four points, two rebounds, and a steal in 12 minutes of action, and we’re still hoping to get a positive report on his health as it looked pretty serious. It will be up to Keyon Dooling, Marquis Daniels, JaJuan Johnson, Sasha Pavlovic, and E’Twaun Moore to pick up the slack. None of them stands out as an emerging fantasy option if Pietrus’ injury is serious.
  • BOS Small Forward #34
Paul Pierce’s (toe) status for Sunday’s game against the Bobcats is uncertain.
Pierce “jammed” his big toe in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s win over the Nets, and the veteran admitted to discussing the possibility of taking Sunday’s game off against the lowly Bobcats in order to rest. Owners in daily leagues have to keep a careful eye on this situation. Mickael Pietrus or Sasha Pavlovic would likely draw the start if Pierce is sidelined on Sunday.
  • NBA Point Guard #1
Rajon Rondo (back), Ray Allen (ankle) and Mickael Pietrus (knee) are all out for the Celtics on Wednesday against the Magic.
Rondo’s injury is fresh from Tuesday night, while Allen’s and Pietrus’ have been lingering. The only good news to report is that it looks like Paul Pierce will play through his sore thigh. Avery Bradley will slide over to point guard and Sasha Pavlovic (yikes) will start at shooting guard.
