ESPN’s Tisha Thompson reports former Cardinals HC Steve Wilks said under oath that former GM Steve Keim and owner Michael Bidwill forced communication with Keim during his suspension.
Keim was jailed and suspended by the NFL in 2018 after being arrested for a DUI. Wilks testified that Bidwill and Keim gave Wilks a burner cell phone to continue to communicate with Keim during his suspension. Keim left the organization in 2022 to focus on his health. Wilks alleged racial discrimination against the Cardinals after being fired by the organization following one season.
  • Former Cardinals executive Terry McDonough brought an NFL arbitration claim against Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill for “gross misconduct, including cheating, discrimination, and harassment.”
McDonough claims that his career opportunities dried up after he and then-Cardinals coach Steve Wilks objected to going along with a scheme to communicate with former Cardinals GM Steve Keim, then on a league suspension for DUI, via burner phones. He also claims that Bidwill “created an environment of fear for minority employees” and “reduced two pregnant women ... to tears after screaming at them with ‘abusive and bullying mistreatment.’” The Cardinals responded to the arbitration claim in a statement calling it “wildly false, reckless, and an opportunistic ploy for financial gain.”

  • Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill was released from the hospital Sunday after being diagnosed with COVID-19 last week.
Bidwill, 55, had been traveling on the east coast for a few weeks before coming down with symptoms and being admitted to a Rhode Island hospital. “I learned first-hand just how serious COVID-19 is,” Bidwill said. “My immense appreciation for all those on the front lines of this pandemic has only increased and I am particularly grateful to the tremendous nurses and doctors at Newport (R.I.) Hospital. ... I’m very fortunate to have this experience behind me and strongly encourage everyone to continue practicing the important measures to avoid it themselves.” Bidwill thankfully seems to be on the rebound from the virus.
