The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jeff McLane believes a decision by the Eagles on keeping or trading A.J. Brown will be made “in the next 10 days” ahead of the start of the legal tampering period.
McLane has talked to several sources about this at the combine and doesn’t make a real guess on if Brown will be traded — the article is full of Mike Vrabel quotes, if you want a sense of a lean — but also mentions the Ravens and Bills as teams that could use a Brown to get over the championship hump. He notes that if Howie Roseman doesn’t get the compensation he wants, he’ll simply keep Brown. Brown’s 2026 team will determine a lot about the next few weeks in the NFL, but it sounds like it will simply unfold based on how willing the market will be to give Roseman the kind of premium draft assets he’d desire.
  • PHI Wide Receiver #11
The Athletic’s Chad Graff believes the Patriots will “be active” in trade discussions for Eagles WR A.J. Brown.
It’s one of the most sensible fits out there given that Mike Vrabel coached Brown in Tennessee. But Graff adds that it seems doubtful that the Patriots would give up their first-round pick for Brown, and if they aren’t willing to do that, it’s hard to believe Howie Roseman would sign off on a deal. It’s clear that Brown’s future will be one of the big offseason dominos to come post-Combine.
  • PHI Running Back #26
The Athletic’s Zach Berman reports Eagles OC Sean Mannion is “expected to install more zone-blocking concepts that originate from the Shanahan tree offensive philosophies.”
Mannion is expected to lean on run game coordinator and tight ends coach Ryan Mahaffey in installing a zone-blocking scheme reminiscent of the one used by the Shanahans and their acolytes over the decades. Eagles head coach Nick Sirriani said he expects Saquon Barkley — coming off a down 2025 season — to be “exceptional” in the team’s new rushing scheme. “He’s been highly productive in many of the schemes,” Sirianni said of Barkley, who had 28 rushes of more than ten yards in 2025 after having 46 such runs in 2024. The Eagles in 2025 used zone rushing concepts on 45 percent of their carries, the 13th lowest rate in the NFL. They were efficient with zone rushes, logging a 50 percent success rate, the tenth highest in the league.
  • PHI Tight End #88
Eagles GM Howie Roseman said they’ll talk to Dallas Goedert’s agent in the coming days.
That’s not necessarily a guarantee something will get done, but it’s not like the Eagles have better options on the roster than Goedert after his 11-touchdown regular season. The 31-year-old should be a decent bet for low-end TE1 status in a return to Philadelphia, should it happen.
  • PHI Wide Receiver #11
Eagles general manager Howie Roseman did not dismiss the possibility of trading A.J. Brown this offseason.
Roseman, who offered an “emphatic no” to teams looking to acquire Brown at the trade deadline in 2025, was more circumspect when asked this week if the Eagles would listen to trade offers for the superstar wideout, who appeared miserable in a lifeless Philadelphia offense last season. “We’re always listening,” Roseman said. “I don’t think you can go into any conversation with anyone and just shoot things down without hearing what they have to say — because you never know. ... You never know on any player. If someone’s going to give you something you didn’t anticipate and you won’t even have the conversation, I don’t think you’re necessarily doing your job, really servicing the team that you’re with.” Brown, 28, who is signed through the 2029 season, could end up elsewhere this offseason if a receiver-needy team is willing to part with major draft capital to acquire him.
  • PHI Quarterback #1
NFL competition committee co-chairman Rich McKay said the committee has received zero requests to ban the tush push thus far this offseason.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts fumbled on a tush push attempt in Philadelphia’s 24-15, Week 13 loss to the Bears. He told reporters after the game that it is “becoming tougher and tougher” to run the play. Teams are having more success against it, defensively, than they did previously, while others have begun successfully running it themselves. Several teams turned to using it with tight ends, most notably Seahawks TE AJ Barner moonlighted as a tush push quarterback this season. Barner picked up one touchdown and nine first downs on 11 rushing attempts across the full NFL season. Connor Heyward (Steelers) and Cade Stover (Texans) also ran the play a non-trivial amount of times in 2025. It is still possible for teams to submit a ban proposal, but at this point, McKay does not “envision it” happening this offseason.
  • PHI Tackle #65
Eagles RT Lane Johnson announced he will return for a 14th NFL season.
Johnson told The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jeff McLane the news on Thursday morning. The potential Hall of Famer missed the second half of the 2025 season with a Lisfranc injury, though it shouldn’t affect him for the upcoming season. The 2026 season will mark his first without offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland, who stepped down from the role at the end of the year. With Philly’s 2025 season going down as a bit of a dud, 2026 might be a one last ride situation for the veteran tackle. The hope is that a change at offensive coordinator revives the team’s explosive plays on the ground and through the air.
  • FA Defensive Coordinator
Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer believes Jim Schwartz could come back as the Eagles defensive coordinator in 2027.
Schwartz, who resigned from the Browns defensive coordinator job in early February after Todd Monken was named head coach, is set to take the year off with all defensive coordinator chairs filled. Vic Fangio appears to be very “year to year” with the Eagles at this point and contemplated stepping down this offseason. Schwartz’s deal with the Browns has a club option for 2027 that may require compensation in return, but Breer believes he will be the “belle of the defensive coaches’ ball” in 2027.
  • PHI Coaching Staff
Eagles hired Mike Pellegrino as their new defensive backs coach.
The former college lacrosse player entered the NFL’s coaching ranks as a coaching assistant with the Patriots in 2015. He was promoted to cornerbacks coach in 2019 and held that role through 2024. He served as the Bills’ nickels coach in 2025. Pellegrino, 32, takes over a talented, young Eagles secondary.
  • MIA Offensive Coordinator
Dolphins hired Eagles coach Kevin Patullo as their pass game coordinator.
As NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero notes, Philly retained Patullo after demoting him from offensive coordinator. The uncomfortable arrangement was not long for this world and Patullo will now head to South Beach. Patullo served as the Eagles’ OC for one year. The team went from seventh in scoring in 2024 to 19th in Patullo’s lone season on the headset. Between Patullo and offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik, who was also fired as an OC at his last stop, the Dolphins are putting together an awfully underwhelming staff under first-time head coach Jeff Hafley.
