Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie caused a bit of a Twitter stir Sunday when he tweeted he’s “moving to FS,” or free safety. But the Jets’ interest in another free safety suggests Cromartie may not have to change positions.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that the Jets have shown interest in free agent O.J. Atogwe, who was released last week by the Redskins. While no visit has been scheduled, that may be a forthcoming step after the Jets lost out on Reggie Nelson to the Bengals Sunday evening.

Atogwe has been a free safety throughout his seven-year NFL career. The Jets also hosted free agent LaRon Landry for a visit over the weekend, but Landry is more of a strong safety.

Atogwe will be meeting with the Lions early this week.
