Andre Johnson signed with the Colts this offseason after playing 12 seasons with the Texans, but there was another team he would have liked to join.
Johnson, who was born and raised in Miami and played his college football for the Hurricanes, told the Miami Herald that playing in Miami “was something I thought about.”
“I always had a dream of playing at home. I was a huge Dolphins fan. But they never called,” Johnson said.
Johnson said he isn’t surprised the Dolphins, who devoted a lot of free-agent money elsewhere this offseason, didn’t have room for him. And he’s happy in Indianapolis.
“I understand the business side. I have a good situation,” he said.
If Johnson wants to put up big numbers and compete for a title, playing in Indianapolis will probably be a better situation than playing in Miami.
