With the status of yet another key linebacker in question, the Bears have called up one more linebacker from the practice squad.
The Bears promoted second-year linebacker Terrell Manning to the roster on Saturday, the team said on Twitter.
In announcing Manning’s promotion, the team disclosed that starting middle linebacker D.J Williams (neck) is now questionable for Sunday’s game at Atlanta. It’s another dose of unwelcome news for Chicago (2-3), which has a host of injury concerns at linebacker. Outside linebackers Lance Briggs (ribs) and Shea McClellin (hand) have already been declared out for Sunday, and second-year linebacker Jon Bostic is questionable with a back injury. Williams had been listed as probable on the club’s Friday injury report.
Manning (6-2, 237) played in Weeks Three and Four with Chicago, playing 20 snaps on special teams. The 24-year-old Manning previously spent time with the Packers, Chargers, Vikings and Giants.
In addition to Manning, Williams and Bostic, the Bears have rookies Christian Jones and DeDe Lattimore and veteran Darryl Sharpton at linebacker.
To open a roster spot for Manning, the Bears waived rookie safety Shamiel Gary.
