The Jets will be rolling with Geno Smith for the rest of Sunday afternoon and the question for the Jets is whether Ryan Fitzpatrick’s left thumb injury is going to lead to an extended run for the former starter.

Alex Flanagan of CBS Sports spoke to Jets coach Todd Bowles at halftime of their game against the Raiders and reports that Bowles said Fitzpatrick has a “ligament issue” in his thumb. Bowles didn’t give any sense of Fitzpatrick’s outlook for future weeks, but Mike Florio of PFT reported that the Jets have already started calling around in search of quarterback help.

Based on the way the game is going, there won’t be much reason for General Manager Mike Maccaganan to turn his attention away from the phones. Taiwan Jones broke several tackles to turn a short pass from Derek Carr into a 59-yard touchdown to give the Raiders a 28-6 lead early in the third quarter.
